Hey, it's Mark Podolski, the lane geek. And for this episode of Coffee Talk, I am pleased to certainly introduce. If you don't know him, you probably know him because he's got, like, one of the biggest podcasts in the world. Jeff Steinman. Howtoquitworking.com Jeff, how are you? What are you drinking?
I am doing great, Mark. I am drinking actually, just regular old coffee from the office here out of my failure cup.
All right, great. I got the bulletproof coffee going on this morning. I don't know if you can see, it's all frothy, buttery, and fatty, but it's great. So, Jeff, what's going to be your tip of the day for Coffee Talk? Because if you don't mind, I mean, tell me a little bit about the new podcast, because I think it's really interesting the way that you've got this thing boiled down so that we can learn how to quit working fast, fast, fast.
Yeah, well, you know, I constantly hear from my audience, my podcast listeners. I have my how to Quit Working show. I've been doing for now two years. I constantly hear from them. Jeff, I don't have enough time. I don't have enough time. I don't have enough time. I work 40 hours a week. I got a commute. I've got kids. I've got church activities. I got this. I got this. I don't have time. I don't have time. I don't have time. So what I said was, okay, well, how. What, what can I do? Like, you know that whole pebbles in a jar analogy, right? You put the big rocks in and you can fit the pebbles in and you can fit this. I was like, how can I find some grains of sand and cram a lot of them in your jar to help you quit working? And the answer that I came up with to that was, well, what if I did a podcast every single day, but it was only five minutes, five minutes long, five minutes every single day, you get a tip to help you quit your job and start a business.
All right, great. So what's going to be your tip today?
Forget about failure. Just forget about failure. I interviewed Debbie Travis. She's a. She's a TV host. She has. She had a bunch of TV shows on hgtv. She's kind of like the Canadian Martha Stewart. She really. She really invented the home improvement home decorating television category didn't exist before Debbie Travis decided to take her products to the world and teach people how to make their homes look nicer. Now what she said to me was amazing. She said, I asked her, you know, what about failure? I was like, does somebody even successful in a multimillionaire like yourself, does somebody like you fail? And she just laughed and she said, well, of course, everybody fails. And then I said, well, what's your advice? And she said, you know, I wouldn't worry too much about failure because it's just part of the process. One of the things that I have been trying to work on myself and also talk to my listeners and my clients about is this idea of why don't we just get excited about failure? Why don't we just be like, hey, that totally went to hell in a hand basket, but that means that I am one step closer to success. Because we all know that. We all know it intellectually. We all know intellectually we're going to have to have some failures along the way because. But screw it, let's just get excited about it. That's my tip for the day. Just get excited about failure.
Yeah, I love it. I mean, in Silicon Valley, they celebrate it. It's like part of the culture. They say fail fast, fail often, fail forward. It's like a mantra there. So that's great, Jeff. I love that tip. And how can we learn more about you? Go to howtoquitworking.com and where else?
