Mark J. Podolsky (The Land Geek) records a short coffee-talk style vlog advising viewers to abandon the "follow your passion" maxim and instead focus on developing skills and mastery. He cites the documentary "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" — noting Jiro hated sushi when he began but developed mastery over decades, which eventually produced passion — and urges viewers to get good at something; passion will follow. The clip ends with a brief promotional CTA to download an investor blueprint.

Hey, it's Mark Podolski, the land geek@thelandgeek.com let's have a cup of coffee together. So today I'm drinking an Americano with two honey and it's Starbucks. I know, I know, but I'm all caffeined up. It's great. What's wrong with the free black coffee in my office? Nothing. Nothing's wrong with it. Not a coffee snob, but this is good. So, tip of the day. Watch the documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi. Because here's a guy, he's 86 years old and he's the best in the world at doing this sushi technique to make his Sushi taste great. 70 something years he's been working at it and it's his craft and now he loves it. When he first started though, he hated it. So my advice is, when you first start something, don't think it needs to be your passion. Throw out the follow your passion advice. Just get really good at something and give yourself time and develop your skills. Because as you get really good at something and develop mastery, then the passion follows. It doesn't start where you wake up one day and say, hey, buying, selling raw land is my passion. I can't wait to do this. No one wakes up thinking with what their passion is. I don't know what my passion is, but I do know I like the feeling of being really good at something or great at something, or one of the best in the world at something. My tip of the day is a little bit motivational. Go watch Jiro Dreams of Sushi. It's going to inspire you that even the most mundane of tasks such as making sushi, if you're the best in the world at it, everything else will follow. All your dreams can come true from it. And as Jiro would say, you live a life of honor. Anyways, please go download the Investors passive income blueprint@thelandgeek.com and thanks for sharing a cup of coffee with me. See you later.
