Hey, it's Mark Podolski, the lane Geek with thelanggeek.com let's have another virtual cup of coffee together. So I was just reading Clayton Christensen's book, how will you measure your life? And Clayton Christensen is a Harvard professor. He's built a bunch of companies up. He's the author of the Innovator's Dilemma, which has had a profound impact on a lot of Silicon Valley companies, especially Apple in particular, Steve Jobs quotes that book all the time. So Clayton Christensen is also interesting because he's a cancer survivor and he talks a lot about work life balance in his book how will you measure your life? And the takeaway that I got was that we only have so many hours in a day to allocate our resources and we almost have to treat our life as a business because a business only has so many resources as well, finance, marketing, your personal energy, etc. Right. But what is interesting is that most high achievers really focus on their careers first and they end up neglecting what really makes us happy in life, our friends and our family. And he makes the argument that you can make a million dollars or get a big raise at your company and it's not going to make you happy if those long term investments in your friends and family can get neglected. Right. And the way that he says to handle this is that every day you've got to work on those relationships. And this is why I love the land business so much. And I'll give you an example of Jeff Axton. He works two hours a day on the land business, ten hours a week. The rest of the time he's working his full time job as a firefighter or he's with his family. And I'm calling Jeff all the time and I'm emailing him. He never misses any of his children's activities. He's there all the time. And that's what the land business can afford him because now he's making six figures a year working part time in the land business, passive income. And that's what I want to stress is that this is a vehicle for you to really focus your resources efficiently so that you can spend time doing the things that that are ultimately going to make you happy.
