Mark J. Podolsky coaches a student paralyzed by fear of creating ads. His fix: adopt the mantra "If I'm not failing, I'm not learning." Failure isn't the opposite of success. It's how you get there.
Hey, it's Mark Podolski, the land Geek with thelandgeek.com let's have another virtual cup of coffee together. So I'm on with a coaching student, and he gets. He's getting amazing deal flow. And so I'm asking him, what's going on with your marketing? How are the marketing pieces going? Have you sold the property yet? And he hasn't created the ads yet. And basically, you know, I kind of put it out there like, you're procrastinating, right? And he's like, yeah, I'm procrastinating. What are you afraid of? He's like, well, it's just not right. So basically, procrastination is essentially saying, I fear failure, and if I don't try, then I can't fail. But along the way, it feels terrible. It creates all this anxiety and all this stress because we know we need to do this at some point. We just don't want to do it. We don't want that deep, deep back of our mind in our gut. We just don't want to feel, well, what if it doesn't work? And that failure? So you've just got to reframe it. And your new mantra has to be, if I'm not failing, I'm not learning. Say it with me. If I'm not failing, I'm not learning. The only way to learn and grow is by failing. Embedded within the structure of success is failure. I'll say it again. Embedded within the structure of success is failure. It's almost like those people that are skiing and you see them falling. And the whole cliche is that if you're not falling when you're skiing, you're not skiing hard enough. The same thing applies to the land business. If you're not feeling, if you're not falling, so to speak, then you're not working hard enough, you're not trying hard enough, and it's pretty important. So there you go. Say that mantra with me.
