Hey, it's Mark Podolski, the land geek with another coffee talk segment with you. Phil, how are you?
Good. Let's have another cup of coffee.
Let's have another virtual cup of coffee. What are you drinking?
Black coffee? No, no, no acid. Very healthy.
You're healthy like that, aren't you?
Try to be.
Do you eat pretty clean?
I do.
No burgers, no fries, no fast food?
No, no. I mean, I go off the rails once in a while, but I try to stand with. I try to stay with meat, vegetables, and, you know, avoid dairy, grains, all that stuff. Many fruit too.
Really? And do you feel like you're more energy?
Oh, thousand percent, thousand percent. Yeah. It makes a big difference for me.
Wow. Okay. Well, we're not going to give a diet tip for our coffee talk tip, but let's.
That is a good subject, though.
It is a good subject.
It is a really good subject. Yes. Yeah, we can talk about that later.
Yeah. I wanted to ask you about Rich Dad, Poor dad, the Robert Kiyosaki book, which has sold like a billion copies. And every time I do the best passive income model podcast, inevitably somebody brings up that book as being a catalyst to get them into real estate. What did you think of Rich Dad, Poor Dad? I know it's been a while since we've both read it.
Yeah, it's been a while for me. I mean, I love the book. I love Kiyosaki. I'm not a huge fan of his going beyond that, but I think it's great foundational information. It's motivational. The biggest light bulb moment for me reading it years ago was, you know, buy assets, not toys.
Right.
It's the biggest thing I glean from it, and I think it's pretty obvious, so.
Right, right. And I think, you know what that was really what kind of kind of took me to that next level of getting over my fear of doing land investing was at that time, I think it was 2001, I'd read that book or 2000, and I thought to myself, what's the worst that can happen here? I own land, Right?
Yeah.
And the taxes were cheap. 10, 1500 bucks a year. It wasn't like I had to maintain a building that I couldn't sell, which could bankrupt me. So I think that if you are on the fence about getting into real estate investment, that's a great book to reread and pick up and dust off your bookshelf and get re motivated to get over your fear of investing in land or real estate or whatever it may be some type of hard asset. Like Phil said, buy assets, not toys.
Yeah, then you can buy the toys later.
Then you can buy the toys later. Yeah, exactly. That's that great Zig Ziglar coin quote. I love saying all the time, if you'll do for the next five years what other people won't do, you'll be able to do for the rest of your life what other people can't do.
Exactly.
Yeah. Like that. See, I'm like. I'm like a mini Tony Robbins with that.
I'm a huge Zig Ziglar fan as well.
Yeah, yeah, he was great. He was great.
Absolutely.
