Short YouTube video (voice/transcript) by Mark J. Podolsky (The Land Geek) giving a marketing tip: avoid overwhelming customers with too many product choices. He cites a candy-shop study (36 vs. 6 options) and the one-item-per-day model of woot.com to argue that fewer, simpler listings convert better, and closes with calls-to-action to his website and free resources.

Hey, it's mark podolski from thelandgeek.com so let's have another virtual cup of coffee together. So I'm working with a coaching client and we're putting together his landing page, a website, and we just bought a bunch of property. He wants to know, should I list all my property on the website? This is like 20, 30 listings. And interestingly enough, there's been some studies done, and the more choices we have, the more difficult it is for us to make that choice. And it ends up we tend to be less happy, we're more confused by them, and we're more likely not to buy. So there was like a study done of a candy shop. So this one candy shop had like 36 choices of candies, and the other one had six. So more people went into the candy shop that had more options and more flavors. Right, the 36 one. But more people bought at the one that only had six flavors of candy. So when you're putting together your listings, remember that site woot.com that Amazon bought? They just had, you know, one item per day and that was it, and they sold out like crazy. Keep it simple. Don't overwhelm your customers, your clients with too many choices. So that's my tip of the day.
