ditch that comfort zone! time to get uncomfy.

In this vlog, Tilly Lockey updates viewers on a hectic two‑week period during which she traveled between Kent, London, and Bristol. She recounts attending a Yungblud concert at Wembley, a Panic! at the Disco farewell show, and spending three intensive days in a recording studio despite initial fear. Tilly also describes filming segments for a US TV piece, a BBC feature, and a Young V&A Museum interview, highlighting her role as a user of the Barnacle Arms prosthetic. Throughout the narrative she reflects on deliberately pushing herself out of her comfort zone, using anxiety as a growth opportunity, and emphasizes gratitude for family, especially after her mother’s birthday and time spent with her grandparents. She encourages viewers to follow her on Instagram and TikTok for more frequent updates, invites video ideas, and closes with a message about balancing ambition with appreciation for home life.

This is a very makeshift tripod right now, um, a suitcase which has just been unpacked and I'm trying to slide my phone. Ta-da! Hello, my lovelies, it's Tilly and welcome back to my YouTube channel. It's been— let's check— it's been 3 months. That is like ages ago. I'm so sorry. First things first, let me give you a little rundown of where I've been, specifically over the past 2 weeks, um, because I've literally just got home. I was away from home for like literally 2 weeks. The suitcase was struggling, absolutely huge and heavy as. And then I was away for another like 9 days all at once the week before that. So I haven't been able to sit down and record at any point, and I'm really sorry about that. I'm sorry. But I don't want to dwell too much on that. I actually just want to give another video, like new upload, new content. So it is currently the 11th of March, Saturday the 11th of March, 2023. And I left my house on the 24th of February and I only got back like 2 days ago, 3 days ago maybe. So let me tell you what all that trip was about. Basically what we're doing is we're just hopping from Bristol, London, Kent, Kent, Bristol, London. It was just Kent, Bristol, London has seen enough of me, that's all I can say. And although I've been away from YouTube for a little bit because I haven't had the opportunity to sit down and film, I have been very active on my Instagram. So a couple of things I'm gonna say you might have already seen on there. And if you don't follow me on there, it's @tilly.lockey, and you'll feel like I'm a lot less ghosting you if you follow me on there because you'll see what's happening. So first things first, on the 24th of February, I went down to Kent on the train, and that's because I was going to a Yungblud gig on the Saturday. That was so, so, so, so, so good. The Saturday at Wembley, and I was actually standing like a raven for the first time. I mean, I've done like festivals and things, but I've never been like stood on the concert floor, like a big concert. So that was really fun. I was kind of like, am I gonna get trampled on and how am I gonna cope with this? Um, but literally the first, the first thing that happened when we got to like our spot, as close as we possibly could, there was like another girl who was about an inch or so taller than me and her mum, and her mum was like, see, you're not the shortest one. And I was like Yay! But at least we related to the struggle of literally not being able to see the stage. Oh, but yeah, that was a lot, a lot, a lot of fun, and I actually surprised myself. Turns out I am the life and soul of the party. And yeah, forget the stalls, we moved on. I'm 17 and wildin'. But after that being on the Saturday, I went back home with my boyfriend in Kent, and then on the Sunday we went to London where we all met up with Oscar and Amanda from Got What It Takes, and that was super fun. We went to a lovely sushi restaurant and I ended up eating George's food by accident because they put it on my plate. So yeah, I felt really bad about that. I'm sorry, babe. I'm just gonna speed on through this because we want to get on with stuff. We stayed over in a hotel, just me and my mom, and my mom met me there, and we stayed over in a hotel just outside London a little bit because I actually spent 3 days in the studio making music, which seems wild. It seems like— honestly, it was something I was really, really scared to do for a really long time. It was like coming up with ideas and melodies and everything on the spot and recording, and it was like 3 days. As soon as he was like, yeah, I want to see you for 3 days, I was like, oh, this is legit, like, I need to pull myself together. But I went there and I was really, really scared because I was just like the fear of the unknown. And I'm going to talk about this a little bit later. That's what I want to talk about in this video today. But I was really, really nervous, and that was definitely me getting way out of the comfort zone. But I'm super proud of myself, and 3 days was successful, I'd say. Being a bit cryptic. After those 3 days in the studio, we went to Bristol where we did something in Bristol. We did some filming for some TV companies who were coming to have a tour of the office, and I was there obviously demonstrating as a user who wears the arms that are created there, and I was also answering questions. So you might see that go up on TV. It was one for America, so if you're American, you might see that at some point. It was like a news for America. And then there was also something for the BBC, which is something I'm really proud of, of my legs for doing right now. So at this point, that was Thursday, and on that night, we drove drove back to Kent. Oh no, I didn't. Hang on. Then for that— so that was Thursday, and then on the Thursday night we drove to London again because I did some filming for the Young V&A Museum. They have the Boy in the Thorns featured in there, so they wanted me to do like a little sort of like the science museum that I documented on this channel not too long ago, just the National Science Museum in London. It was a bit like that sort of thing. So I was doing an interview in a really cool neon room, and I'll attach any stuff that I can share so you can see that because that was super, super fun. And honestly, the nicest team that I think I've ever worked with. They were so lovely, like everyone. And we got sushi, it was a great time. Saw floating pool, went to the park for a bit. Honestly didn't feel like I was working that day, but that's good news. After that filming, we went from there straight to Kent on the Friday night. Honestly, it just makes a lot of sense to stay there than to come all the way back home because if you don't know, I'm from Durham, sort of Newcastle area, and it's just so far. So it's really, really handy. Thank you for having us. Us. Thank you so much. Otherwise we would be— the miles on that car is already not looking too good. Spent the weekend in Kent, that was a lot of fun. Then on the Monday, me and George went to London because I wanted to see Panic! at the Disco on their last ever tour as Panic! at the Disco. I think he'll come back and do some cool stuff like solo, but it was their last ever tour, so that was incredible. And so, so glad we bagged tickets. We literally got those tickets like literally like a whole year ago to the actual event. So it was crazy that I finally came around and we got to go, and it was so, so, so much fun. We're having a great time. Went back home, slept, then on the Tuesday we came back to Upland Barnacks. We drove to Upland Barnacks at Bristol, slept in a hotel that night, and then on Wednesday we went back to the lab and we did a sort of open day and expressing gratitude to a group of people who've been really generous, like donors. So we just wanted to show our appreciation for them and and that was incredible. We went out for pasta and it was great and everyone was lovely. The people who donate make it honestly possible for people to have Barnacle Arms and make them accessible, so we really appreciate that so, so, so much. And it was so lovely to see everybody in the flesh. It was great. Then I just got home not too long ago. Friday? Literally 2 days ago. No. So yeah, I've been super, super, super, super busy, but all fun things. Honestly, I got to like maybe the 8th day and I was like, this is flying past, because we didn't stay in one location other than Kent like more than one night, and I felt like we were on the road all the time. So it actually didn't feel like we were gone for that long. But then by the end of it, on like the 13th day, I was reflecting on that Youngblood gig that I went down for, and I was thinking, that feels like ages ago. As much as I really do love traveling though, I'm such a home girl. Like, I love home. I love my family so, so, so much. It was my mom's birthday yesterday and we all got to go out for a meal together, and my granddad came down earlier in the morning, and it just made me think, like, I love my family so much. Like, I'm so lucky to have every single one of them, and I never ever am gonna lose sight of that because they mean the world to me. They really do. But yeah, I've been really, really pushing myself outside of the comfort zone, and that's honestly my rule for life this year. Like, my New Year's resolution, whatever you want to call it, it's just my mission is to— if I feel uncomfortable about it, then that's usually a good thing. Like, there was a quote that says you only grow outside your comfort zone, and as much as you don't want to do it because it feels so scary and the unknown and everything, not only number one is it never as bad as you think it's gonna be, but number two, that's genuinely where you grow. And I've even been feeling that over the past couple of weeks. It's also really helping me to deal with any sort of anxiety I have around anything as well. Just like, because you, you can feel anxious about things, but if you have this mindset of, you know, that, that anxiety and that nervousness and the shyness is an opportunity for growth, and I find myself looking at it that way has really helped me quite a lot. And like I say, it's always— it always turns out better than you think it's gonna be, so it's a win-win. So yeah, just trying to stay outside of that comfort zone, honestly. Try new things, stop procrastinating, and just like do it, even if it scares you, is the main message I want anybody to take away from this video because it's so important. And I think once you adopt that mindset where like you welcome fear instead of run from it, it changes everything. You feel so much better in yourself because you feel that productivity, you feel like you're pushing yourself. And it's so easy just to sit and like stay in what you're comfortable with. And don't get me wrong, I'm very— I do that all the time as well, but I think the past couple of weeks have taught me like stepping outside that even just for a day and challenging yourself is the most rewarding thing ever. And I'm really happy with myself, like I'm proud of myself for pushing it out. And I feel like I learned a lot. I'm always learning nowadays, it's great. But I think because my life is so full-on, especially at the minute, sort of vlogs and things are sort of challenging to do. Like even just explaining what I've been up to now has probably been like, whoa, that's a lot, and I feel like I missed out bits and I'm forgetting what I've done in the week. So honestly, I feel like videos like this where I sit down and it's very like, I don't know, just chatty, and this is what's going on and how I'm thinking and, you know, mindset and everything, is actually really nice to do. It's really, really grounding for me just to like talk about it. I always loved writing things down, but just to talk to a camera, I don't know, I find it really quite therapeutic. You can be here, there, and everywhere, like your emotions and your personal challenges and your feelings is something that you're still very much dealing with while all that's going on. So being able to talk about that and acknowledge that, I feel like, is really, really important and is a little reminder that we're all human, you know. And sometimes you need to, after a busy week, sit down and have this moment of reflection gratitude. Grateful for my family that I have back at home, grateful for the opportunities, grateful for the rest days. It's so easy to get caught up in it all, and I definitely have before. It's something that I wanted to help myself with and deal with better. So yeah, that's sort of where we're at. Busy girl but grounded girl. So things I've learned in the past week is it's important to push yourself out of your comfort zone, do things even though it scares you, because ultimately it'll be better than you think it's going to be and you feel great about yourself because you've challenged yourself and you've welcomed that instead of running from that fear. Number 2 is that you really should appreciate the break time and the home time just as much as the opportunities that you get because I'm sat at home now and I get to spend all this time with my family and I feel like I appreciate those moments a lot more when I get them now and I feel like that's really important even if you're not busy all the time, just to really appreciate the moments you have with with your family when you have them. And number 3, off the back of those things, is that it's really important to have that balance. And that's something that I'm trying to do a lot better recently, and I feel like I am doing quite well. So I hope this has been an all right little catch up with me. And again, if you don't follow me on my Instagram @tilly.lockey or my TikTok @tilly.lockey, you probably should if you want to be like in the loop with everything, because I'm much better on there. But do leave any video ideas you want to see down below because I do find it really therapeutic and I absolutely love doing it. I love you all so much. Thanks so much for watching and I'll see you next time. Bye!
