In this vlog‑style voice memo, Tilly Lockey recounts traveling with her father to Dubai for a speaking engagement at an AI event. She describes choosing her dad as a chaperone, the anticipation and slight fear of flying, and the details of their Emirates economy flight—a 7‑hour‑50‑minute nonstop journey that included a fancy menu, curry and tea, and in‑flight entertainment. The highlight was watching the film We Live in Time together, which moved both of them to tears on the plane. After landing, they headed to Dubai Expo City where they will stay for a few days. Tilly hints at a series of post‑arrival mishaps—being taken in a VIP limousine instead of a regular taxi, a declined card, and losing her burner cards at breakfast—promising to share those stories in a follow‑up segment.

Catch a flight with us to Dubai. I'm doing a speaking event in Dubai, and as my chaperone of choice, I chose my dad, so it was bound to be an adventure. I told him we were making a vlog, so I wanted him to film me, but clearly he was more interested in the plane. I'm not gonna lie, with all the flights I've seen crashing recently, I was kind of scared to get on this flight, but thankfully it was all good as I'm here now filming a voice memo. I made it back alive, woohoo! We were flying with Emirates economy class because first class is a thing of dreams and I cannot afford that. I wish. The flight was about 7 hours 50 long, one direct flight, thank the Lord in heavens above, because me and my dad trying to get a connected flight was not going to end well. We had dinner, which was actually really nice. They give you a menu on the Emirates airline, which is really cool, feels proper fancy. So we ended up getting this curry, shortly followed by tea. They had so many films on this flight to watch as well, and my dad was watching We Live in Time. I was literally only watching his screen, not even looking at mine, and I was bawling just looking at the scenes. We were crying together, like sniffing on the flight, and everyone was looking at us. But mate, it was We Live in Time, like, can you blame us? Finally, we were landing. I mopped up the tears and got on our merry way to Dubai Expo City, which is where I was we'll be staying for the next couple of days. Spoiler alert, plenty of things went wrong from this point onwards, including us getting into a VIP limousine rather than a normal taxi cab, which yes, my card did decline, and me leaving my actual burner cards at breakfast. Not even— yeah, okay, yeah, I'll save that story for the next part. Stay tuned.
