Hi, my name is Tilly. I've been public speaking since the age of 10, and doing this, I've gotten to go to so many incredible places. I love learning and connecting with people doing amazing things all over the world. And in recent years, I've upped the game and tried not just presenting, but hosting, being the MC of the entire event. For the last 2 years, I've been the official host of Futureport Youth, a tech conference located in Prague that is completely dedicated to students. Bringing young people the wisdom and empowerment from young and old leaders in fields including technology, space, fashion, sustainability, and innovation. This is the third year I'm hosting, so I thought I'd bring you guys along with me.
Ooh, look at all the mochis!
Taro mochi, oh my god, we have to try some of that. Look at all these sweets!
I'm gonna have to try all these sweets. Bye. Thank you.
Thank you very much. Thank you.
Nice night.
It is so cold, my dudes, but I'm happy I've got snacks. We're going to do a little try, test, and haul. Hello everybody, we have made it to Prague and I actually haven't sat down and spoke to you yet, but yeah, we're doing a trip to Prague where I am hosting a tech event. This is the third year I've done it now, which is super exciting. We just got to Prague and in our hotel and I was like, I am actually so hungry, so So I had a quick look on Google Maps to see what was around. We just went for a wander and we found this little supermarket, so I want to show you what I got because I don't think that guy has ever seen somebody have as much fun in the supermarket as I just did. First of all, I got some tortilla chips because they had a, they had a shelf full of different salsa dips and things like that, so I just thought tortilla chips, they'll do me some good. And these are the salty ones.
Tortilla chips, pretty standard. Of course we have to get some salsa dip as well.
This is a salsa dip I got, and I actually didn't read it, but that says mild. I promise I'm more fun than that. I would have probably gone for a bit spicy, but also when you're in another country, you never know because their idea of what's spicy can be absolutely crazy. So yeah, I got some salsa mild dip, which we will try. Now these are the real gem of a find because I am a sucker for mochi. I love that stuff so so much, but tell me why they have the coolest flavours here. In this little off-license, I found these, which are Japanese-style taro mochi. Religiously, my order for bubble tea is the taro milk tea. I think it's absolutely unreal. So the fact that you're telling me I can have this in a mochi ball—
are you kidding?
I had to cop that. And also because this one just literally intrigued me so much along the line of mochi and bubble tea. This one actually, I think, has tapioca balls in it. Like, look at that. Got the tea and the tapioca balls like on the side there.
So I'm pretty sure there's a ball in this, a ball within a ball.
Thing is with mochi, like, I'll either get them in the super squishy or you also get the ice cream ones. But these weren't in the fridge or anything, so I think they are the squishy ones. But I will let you know. I also find in other countries the cans and the drink options are just so much fun. And so I can never get like a standard Coke. When I'm in another country. We've got to try something, and I've literally never seen these before. Here I have a Dr Pepper Cherry. I love Dr Pepper, so this is a win. And this is my drink, which I've just flipped on its head, so it's gonna really fizz now. I got this little Fizztyle fizzy drink, which is—
look at the little cat on it!
I was gonna get some fancy other thing, but I think it was an energy drink and wouldn't have done me too good at this time. Um, but then I saw this little cat, and I know I've been away from home for like what, not even a day, but I see a cat and I think of my cats at home and now I'm drinking this in honor of them. After I found all this and got attached to it, I found an actual just sandwich, so I thought I should probably get that. Seems though I went in looking for lunch and this is just— it's in the local language, but it looks like chicken and bacon to me, so I thought that was a safe bet.
Let's eat!
Oh, they're in like little cake tins. Okay, I really need to go to bed now actually, um, but I will see you in the morning. So we are currently day 1, I guess, like first full day in Prague. I've got a pretty busy rehearsal schedule today. We're gonna meet with Martin in a second, just currently at breakfast. And then I'm gonna go to the venue, check that all out, which I'm super excited for because they've really upscaled the venue this time, and the stage literally like spins. So I've heard it's really, really cool to see. I'm gonna feel like Ed Sheeran at Wembley, you know, if anyone's ever seen Ed Sheeran, he like goes round and round on like a circle stage. Um, I'm gonna be Ed Sheeran in Prague. Yeah, we're just having some breakfast now. I'm gonna have a mien, and then I will update you in a bit.
All around so that The speakers will sit here, um, and they will—
I somehow found a beanie and I've also spotted Swain, so we're gonna go chill over here. So we are walking to the venue for the first time, which I'm actually so excited to see this because it looks so pretty on pictures. The stage light moves and everything, so this rehearsal is actually going to be so much fun.
We just have to find it first. Oh, it's so cute!
I love them, they're like fairies.
Oh yeah, I know, that would be amazing.
This, I wouldn't, uh, I wouldn't post this because it's like a surprise.
All right, okay, I won't post it, it's just for me.
You can post it tomorrow, just for me.
Hello everybody! So yeah, here's me just doing a little bit of rehearsing. I also got some lunch. This Soup was unreal. It was like vegetable potato soup, but it was so nice. And as we were doing rehearsals, the acrobat also got up and did some rehearsals, like on this hoop in the sky with the drones. It was actually insane.
The strength you've got to have to do that is insane.
But yeah, then I was just running around with Martin going over any lines. We rehearsed some fireside chats with an actual fireside thing. Look how cute. Okay, we didn't set it on fire, but it was a bunch of twigs and it had like an orange light we shone on it. So, you know, gotta respect the effort. And then the speakers did their little rehearsals of all their presentations and things as well. And this was such a long day, but a very fun one nonetheless. I even found this poster with my face on it. I've now brought it home.
Rehearsal complete. Honestly, today has been so full on. I've spent like 9 hours or close to that at that venue, and we just got back into the hotel. It was really good though.
Like, I got to see all that, the acrobatics and the drones, and get a feel for the place. So that was really good. Also, me and Martin, who's like my co-host, we decided to take it one step further and we are literally like running around this venue as hosts. It's not just standing on a stage, not even standing on a stage that spins. We are running around this place. So it'll be fun, but I'm actually so hungry now, so I am going to go down in a little bit and get some dinner with all the other speakers. It was really nice to meet everyone as well. That's what rehearsal day and these speakers' meals are really good for, just like getting to know everybody. And as the host, I need to know quite a bit about people. The work never really stops, but at least it's fun work.
Please give it up to Maya! Woo! Lift off! Yay!
After So after what was an amazing 6-hour-long show, we eventually wrapped and I was surprised with some flowers, which I thought was so, so sweet. We got a group picture and then for the rest of the day I was doing interviews. I was interviewing the award winners who are doing absolutely insane things. I won't say too much because I'll talk about it in a little bit, but this is Laser Crew and yeah, they're epic. They won first place and then there's another guy called Aditya who also won third, and Vanya who won second. All of them doing incredible things, and I was so lucky to be able to interview all of them. Keep an eye on these guys, that's all I'm gonna say.
Oh, what a day! I have finished. We finished Futureport Youth Conference 2024. It went so, so well. Like, the speakers we had this year— well, even last year as well— the speakers we always have are just next level, but like they're so informed in what they're talking about, but they're also just next level humans. Like they're just so lovely. I've never had to deal with somebody who's not, so you know, that's nice. Everyone's just so, so lovely. But yeah, I would have put and slotted in some little things, or if I haven't, I will do that now. It was such a cool event, and like I said, they really upscaled it this year with the 800 student audience, and of course it was livestreamed as well to like thousands of others, and that is a big step from 120. The venue was new and everything. I loved personally the start, like the start me and Martin were like opposite sides like up the spiral on like the third floor, and it's all ramps all the way around so we literally were like running from like balcony to balcony to balcony delivering each line which was really really fun. And yeah, it was a good excuse for me to wear my trainers today because I was gonna wear boots for fashion purposes, but trainers are just comfortable. And I'm so glad I opted for the trainers because now I am so tired. But so I did the whole hosting and everything of like, what was it, like a 5-hour, 6-hour show, which is mad. And then after that, we did some interviews, um, I did some interviews myself, and then I did some interviews as the interviewer asking the questions. I got to interview the 3 award winners we had, who are amazing, by the way. It's literally like an award sort of thing for like younger people who are doing amazing things, and the inventions these guys have made actually blow my mind. Like, the winners made some sort of device to be able to communicate to the satellites in space, which aren't communicating, they're like unresponsive, and they figured out how to shoot like a laser beam to the satellite with enough energy to make it reboot itself. Like, what? Oh, and by the way, these people are 17 years old. 17! And they're doing that, and they've been praised by NASA and everything, understandably so, because that is wild. It's also just super interesting for me to get to talk to these people.
Like, it was crazy.
And they're going to have their satellite literally being launched into space in like sometime next year or sometime really soon, which is mad. So they're going to be there for the rocket launch and their device is going up to space and they're literal high school students. What? I must say, coming to events like this, especially when it's like young people doing epic stuff, it really makes me want to be like— it just makes me want to invent something crazy, like turn into Einstein for a second and go crazy. But I suppose that's the inspiration and the empowerment that a lot of students probably really benefit from. But yeah, we also had our Jedis who are legends. And now I get to see them all again for a speaker's dinner. I am starving, so I'm gonna get going. And also, this is me basically wrapped for work here, so from this point onwards it's fun time. Not that Futurepot wasn't fun, but you know, personal time to get trdelniks because I haven't had one of those yet. And if you follow me on Instagram, you'll know I cannot leave Prague without a trdelnik. We might even find one tonight. Okay, I'm going to the airport in a couple of hours. These are our last hours to explore Prague, so we're gonna get out and do that.
For my free day in Prague, we decided to head into town, literally around my old hotel last year, because it's just so pretty there. And last year as well, we got some advent calendars, which was so cute and traditional, so we were hitting every single supermarket to try and find them again. And along the way, we found that stunning bakery, like those donuts, unreal. And loads of like candy stores. This one was amazing. It's kind of like in the design of a pirate ship, and literally, if like you look up, you feel like you're in a ship. It was so cool. And I also found this other place, I think it was called The Playground, but it literally felt like I was stepping into a Comic-Con. Like literally, it was crazy. Giant gumballs, slides, giant other things like monsters, Iron Man, like Hulk. It was crazy. All these fun little mirrors. Upstairs was an arcade. There was a mirror maze. I just love these giant My Little Ponies, and I found Thor, so you know, that was a win. And the city center, if you've never been to Prague, is actually so lush. There's also this place called Palace of Books, which of course I was intrigued by and had to go on in there. But yeah, I just spent my time browsing, did a little bit shopping, saw some live music on the streets which were amazing, and got a coffee. Went for a little, a little cafe stop and tried some other local delicacies.
We've been given a traditional Prague shot, Becherovka, if that's how you say it. I actually got a bottle of it last year, um, and I gave it to some friends. I didn't have to try it myself, but this is a different flavor. It smells kind of sweet, like lemonade, and I've I heard it tastes a little bit like cough syrup, so I quite like medicine.
Let's try it.
It's quite big though, I can't do that all in one.
I'm gonna have to do it in half.
Yeah, quite nice, quite nice. It does taste like cough medicine, doesn't it?
It's quite nice.
Ever since my first trip to Prague, I haven't been able to skip getting one of these, but this time I actually learned the pronunciation, which I think is trdelník. Correct me if I'm wrong. And I also learned that they're originally from Hungary, which is interesting. But then it was time for me to go home, which was so sad. The scenery was so beautiful on the way back though. When I got on the plane, I realized that I'd been featured in Vogue Czech Republic Slovakia.
What?
Hello everybody, I am coming to you back in my flat in Bristol, and I just wanted to do a a little outro on this video because the whole event was actually amazing. And the fact I got on the plane and realized I'd been featured in Vogue, like, you've gotta be kidding. Like, are you serious? I think that's like anybody who does like modeling or anything's dream is to be in Vogue.
So I actually couldn't believe my life.
I kind of still can't.
That was just wild.
And I was just sat there on the plane being like, nobody knows I've just been featured in Vogue right now. But yeah, check that article out, especially if you speak Czech. Because it is all in Czech, but check it out anyway for the pictures. I'll put the link in the bio. But other than that, I just want to say thank you so much for watching this video. I really, really appreciate it if you've made to the end. If you have, then drop a little airplane emoji. Thank you so much for watching. Make sure to like, comment, and subscribe if you enjoyed the video. That is all from me, and I will see you in the next video.
Bye!
