In this vlog, Tilly Lockey documents a day in her life as she travels from her hometown to London to appear as a guest on the Jeremy Vine Show. The video opens with Tilly on a train, introducing the itinerary. Behind‑the‑scenes footage shows her meeting producer Sarah Frew and host Jeremy Vine in the studio, where they discuss her recent bionic prosthetic arms, their functionality, and her experience using them. The conversation also touches on makeup tutorials, the length of the segment, and logistical details for the broadcast. After the show, Tilly leaves the studio and heads to a second filming session with a German newspaper (Bild), meeting a lady named Monica for an interview. Throughout, Tilly shares personal reflections on her prosthetics, her health history (meningitis as an infant), and the emotional impact of public appearances, providing viewers with insight into both the technical aspects of her bionic arms and the media production process surrounding her advocacy work.
Chapters
Hi everyone, it's Tilly.
I'm on the train down to London right now because I'm being invited as a guest to be on the Jeremy Vine Show. In this video, you'll be following me throughout a day in my life and seeing what I get up to before and after I'm on TV.
So let's get into it.
I know the debates, I know the guests, but I don't know if I have to do anything particularly special. Do you like getting your makeup done, Tilly? Yeah, I love like seeing all the different looks people do. I heard upstairs that you do makeup tutorials online. Oh, hello everyone.
Hello.
Jeremy, this is Tilly.
Sorry, we were just in mid-eye liner.
So it just means that we've got a bit more stuff to do. So can we—
Tilly, do you mind if we talk about you while you're sitting there?
Yeah, it's fine.
Because it's quite good if you hear as well. So at the end of the news review, with 3 or 4 minutes to go, I stand up and I say, we've got somebody very special in the audience, Storm Johnson.
I don't drop anything. Hopefully not.
I introduced Tilly to Sarah.
Yeah, that's fine. Yeah, fine.
Okay.
I mean, I'm—
I feel like I should— I don't want to take away too much of your time.
Oh no, it's fine.
I don't know what happened to her.
And these— this new set of arms are 2 weeks only in the job, so they are really literally brand new. Okay, yeah.
How are you finding them, Tilly?
I love them.
Really? How brilliant. It was a big bit of a moment when you got them, is that right?
Uh-huh.
You can tell me about that.
Sorry, I know you can't talk at the moment.
Are they going to be in the front row?
Yes. Yes.
Okay, so, and Sarah, I'm guessing that mainly I just chat to Tilly? Yes. So I say you're here and, and we just go, isn't it amazing?
I just tag along. We've got some lovely footage of the Tilly made some videos of their beauty doing makeup, so we've got some lovely video of that.
And is it, um, is that time—
how long is that?
We've got it as you like, so I think we've got 2:20.
Now Nat is in charge, so Nat, you tell us what you need.
I'm about to say Tilly and Sarah Frew. Very good. Okay, that's lovely.
All right, really, really excited to meet Tilly here, who has— hey, who has? Just show us. The two bionic hands and arms. Had meningitis when you were about, what, 15 months or so?
Yeah.
Really, really small baby, and given 0% chance of surviving. And my goodness, you're just doing so well. And these are brand new, really, aren't they?
Yeah, I got them 2 weeks ago, and I love them.
And you control— so your arm ends about just below the elbow, and somehow your brain is transmitting transmitting instructions through just the stump of your arm?
Yeah, there's like the sensors here, here, and here, and they're just connected to my muscles. So when I squeeze, they close, and when I flex, they open. So it's really easy to use.
Okay, well, what a nice thing to meet you, and all the best to your mum Sarah as well. Cheers, Tilly. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you so much. Just left the studio now after the Jeremy Vine show. Now I'm away and meet a lady called Monica to do a bit of filming and a little interview for a big German newspaper. Oh, these feelings, I can't let them go. It's harder for me to explain. You would think that I would know how to make the sun shine when it rains, but it's all a mystery.
We both And that's the end of the video. I'm now in a different hotel because I'm going on this morning tomorrow.
