Right, are we ready? Alexa, Lumos! That is so fun, I'm actually a wizard, I'm actually a wizard. Close the blinds. They're a bit slow but they're closing. Hey everybody, it's Tilly, welcome back to my YouTube channel. The first video ever in my very own flat. I moved out from home, which is kind of crazy. I see— actually, no, it's wild to say. It's completely wild to say because in my head I'm literally still 12 years old. So the fact that I can just live on my own now is like actually really tripping me out. Like, like, what do you mean I can actually just like live on my own and be trusted? Hello guys, it has been a little while. I have been on YouTube recently, but I've just been doing Shorts. It's been a good while since I've done an actual sit-down video, but I'm watching a lot more YouTube now. I've just moved out, I literally stick it on the TV, and it's so much more fun than TikTok. So I fancy just sitting down and doing one of those sort of videos and giving you an update, because clearly a lot has changed. I've been super busy over the past couple of months, literally doing all sorts. Like, if anybody's been following me for a while, you know that my life consists of the most random things. Like, I am that unemployed friend on a random Wednesday afternoon who's like hiking Mount Everest. That's sort of the vibe. And that hasn't changed whatsoever. But over the last couple of months, I've been trying to restore some order in my life. Not too much order because I do thrive in chaos, but I've been doing a lot with my band and we are working on some new original music, which is super, super fun. I've also been doing my first ever live gigs with the band, which is super exciting and so much fun. Like, that's definitely one of my biggest goals moving forward, is to work with the band, get like a sort of EP out, do more live performances, because like I said, that's just been the absolute most fun. I've also been doing a lot of songwriting as well. Like, I'm really into releasing original music. Songwriting for me was like literally like something to figure out. I was like, so what do you mean? Like, the ideas just come to me and I write them down on a piece of paper. And I used to be like, how— where do the ideas come from? Like, how do we do this? But recently, like, now I've changed so much and I'm literally writing like a song a day. And I love, love, love writing songs. So that's what I've been doing, working with a band and writing my own original music. So definitely stay tuned for that. But also I've been on my content creating grind, and especially my Shorts have been been doing really, really well. And I came back to YouTube one day and I realized we have like over 70K subscribers on here now, which is crazy because I swear the last time I checked we were on like 30K, and now there's like 70,000 of us, which literally means we're on the way to getting the silver plaque. Like, what? That is crazy. Like, my little dreams of being a YouTuber are actually coming true. Like, what do you mean? I could have a plaque? That feels so like legit, you know. Now I've moved out and I've got my own space, it's gonna be so much easier to just sit down and film. No disrespect to my sisters at home, but like, my house at home is absolutely heaving and it's always like chaos. That's why I am the way I am. But now I've got my own little space, like recording and sitting down and just chatting is going to be so much easier. And I just feel like I've got all this time now that I could actually do whatever I want with. Like, nobody's telling me what to do really. I could do whatever I want with this time. And YouTube is just such a— I genuinely have such a lovely community on YouTube. Like, some of the responses I've been getting on my Shorts and everything, and the long format videos, I'm just like, to be honest, I love this community. It feels like the one community where it's not just like quick attention grab videos. Like, I've got some of my favorite YouTubers who I'm just like so invested in their lives, and it's just fun, you know. It's one way to pass the time and feel connected to people. So in case anybody wanted to be connected to me and this new chapter of my life, I'm going to be documenting it and making a YouTube comeback, I guess. The main new chapter of my life, which is obviously moving out. If you don't know me, hi, I'm Tilly, I'm 19 years old, and I have now moved out of home. Been like maybe 2 or 3 days I've had like completely on my own now, commuting to London to work and things like that. And it feels really strange, like genuinely it's so weird, like the idea that I could just do whatever I want. I'm in my own space, I'm paying for bills, like it is mental. But the main reason I moved out is, I mean, I got a pretty good deal. I've moved to Bristol, which is an entirely new city, and I'm actually originally from like between Newcastle, like Durham sort of area. So it's actually like 5 hours away, like, well, on a train anyway. It's really, really far away from home, and I know that because I was trying to book a train to get back at some point, and not only are the train prices absolutely extortionate, but it's like 5 hours on a train. I'm like, how are we doing that? 5 hours on a train is pretty mental. And yeah, that's how far away from home I am. Like, I literally can get on a plane home That speaks volumes. But yeah, now here I am in Bristol. I love Bristol as a city, and the main reason I've moved here is actually because the company who developed our bonnet cams, Openbonnets— a lot of you might not know this, but they are based in Bristol, like literally around the corner right now. And the flat that I'm currently in is the CEO of Openbonnets' flat. They've basically went to America for like half a year, and originally they were like, come to America with us, Tilly Lockey, you can have the— we've got a spare dream in our flat, like come to America. But I was like, I don't know, like moving out for the first time across the Atlantic Ocean might be a bit far. But then the second option came about and they literally offered me their flat. So here I am in the flat and I am paying like my own bills and things like that. Yeah, they've basically just trusted me with the house for like half a year, which is super, super, super exciting. It's so exciting because like I said, I have so much spare time now just to invest into myself and just do whatever, explore to explore, but it's also so, so close to London and a lot of the events that I do and work I do comes from London a lot of the time and trying to get there from Newcastle is kind of a mare, I'm not gonna lie, and the fact that I'm just in Bristol now, I mean it's still like a 2-hour 40 train or whatever, but to me that feels like it's around the corner. Now I feel like I just have to go around the corner and I could say yes to so many more opportunities and that's sort of where I am in my life at the minute, like I just wanna grab every opportunity, say yes to everything, get outside that comfort zone. And yeah, this chapter is very much going to be all about that, which I was kind of scared for, but now I'm here, I'm like, I think I've settled in better than I even thought I would. Like, I had my first day completely alone and I was like, wait, this was my first day completely alone? Like, I was vibing, like, I was chilling. I didn't feel like this was the, the first day and I was adjusting. Like, I felt adjusted on that first day, which was kind of mad. The first night was another story. I think everybody feels that when they first move in, you know. I feel like I was really trying to just like hammer myself into that routine immediately. So I had to sit myself down and do a little journal entry and be like, Tilly, you've just undergone like a massive change. You're out here on your own. Like, you gotta be kind to yourself. You're not going to be able to just fall into that routine instantaneously. Like, this was literally on the first night. That first night I had to be like, chill, Tilly, we're not doing any work today. You're just gonna do some journaling, you're gonna watch a film, and it's okay. I relieved that pressure a little bit on myself, and that really, really worked. And now I'm chilling and so much better. So it's close to London for all those opportunities, but of course Open Barnex is around the corner as well. And so hopefully— I mean, I already work really closely with them But hopefully now I'm literally living in Theo's flat, I'll be able to test that tech a little bit more. And I've actually already got a date in the diary for me to go in and test the brand new Hero Arm coming out. I'm not exactly sure when, actually, not that I'd be able to disclose that information right now, but I'm able to— I'm going in to test that technology and things, and y'all know that's what I'm super passionate about anyway, so That's super fun. And yeah, I've literally just bombarded myself with so many plans. Like, this has been like my first week here and I've met up, I went, well, I went out for the first time, I met up with friends, I went to London, um, done some work, had a hotel in London, got back, sorted out all my logistics. I think that first like train journey logistics thing is like the stressful bit, but it wasn't even that bad. Like, it was really, really simple and now I feel like I can literally do anything. Which is probably a bit dangerous, but oh well. But yeah, this is just a little video to say that I am in this new chapter in my life now, and I do want to do some long-form content and kind of just document this for anybody who wants to see it, but also for myself, you know, to look back on and see how I settled into my first ever flat living on my own. And that whole experience is honestly something I didn't think I'd be doing for like at least another year. And it's funny because on the day that I was moving out, I got a flashback on Snapchat from a year ago. It was literally, I kid you not, a video of me, and I was talking about this goal that I had then, which I completely forgot about, that I wanted to be moved out before I was 20, or like by the age of 20. You know, everyone my age sort of went to uni, and because I haven't gone to uni, I feel like I had more of a choice in whether to move out and when to move out. But the way I've been looking at it is kind of, kind of like not treating it like a choice. Because at the end of the day, it would be more comfortable to stay at home and it is going to be uncomfortable and scary to move out, but you know, when people my age go to uni, they're scared too but you just bite the bullet, it's part of life. And I feel like by giving myself too much choice and the option to stay home, it could have been a case where I'm like, and I never actually just bite the bullet and do it. And at the end of the day, I feel ready and I felt capable to to move out. So putting that off was just going to be me putting it off due to fear and just sitting where it's comfortable. And if you watch any of the videos on my channel, I'm all about getting outside that comfort zone. So I was just like, you know what, this opportunity came up at the best time. I was nervous, yes, to move to a whole city, but I was just like, let's do it. What have I got to lose? It's scary for everybody, and I don't want to not take that sort of jump just because I don't need to. I want to push myself, you know, and this is what I'm doing by being here. But I mean, it's going swimmingly so far. I learned how to use the oven and make some chicken nuggets for the first time. And I know some people are gonna be like, for the first time? But I mean, I've used an oven before, but someone else's oven is a different deal. And pasta is my specialty at home, so there's not much use for ovens. For now, I've learned how to do all those adult things. Again, it just reminds me how much I'm actually capable of. You don't know how much you are capable until you move out. And I've heard that apparently the day you move out is when you become like a proper adult. So I guess I'm a proper adult now, guys. But yeah, I'm not here for long. I'm here for like half a year, like 5 months or something like that, which I also think is a really nice period of time just to like see how it is. And when that's over, I'm thinking of moving out with my sister anyway. So who knows, we might go back north, we might stay Bristol. Because I want this to be known as well. I still heavily back the Northeast. I will be back all the time because I love the North so much. Like, I'm not just going way down south and forgetting my roots. I'll always be a Northern girl at heart, and I've brought all my Newcastle merch up here to rep that in Bristol city center and London or wherever I go. But this is the first chapter of full-blown independence, which I want to document if you want to follow along. When I saw that video of me saying that I want to be moved out by 20 and like it was like a video where I was talking about being worried for the future. It was one of those moments where you just wish you could like go back to that moment, sit and have a chat with yourself and just be like, girl, you don't even know, you're going to be moved out and happier than ever in just a year from now. She had no idea but here I am in the future and that's the case and you just never know when the opportunity is going to arise, when you're going to level up. I took that as a really cute sort of sign that popping up on my phone literally a year ago to the day that I was actually moving out and coming here. It was like a little thing like, you accomplished that goal, a goal that I literally completely forgot about. And there was never any need to worry at all. Also, this is not to say that moving out at a certain age is like standard rulebook, it's something that you need to do. It's everybody's choice when they move out or literally do anything in life is completely your choice. But for me, I'm really happy and feel really energised by this move and this decision in my life. So I just want to say that, like, no pressure to do anything that you're not ready for. But I always encourage people to just take that step and just see, just take the step and see what you're capable of. But yeah, this is just a message to say hello, this is where we're at right now. I will hopefully be making some more long-form content as well as the shorts as well, because I do love my little short videos. Here I am settled into a new apartment and feeling good. I'm hosting a tech event in Prague, like pretty much all of next week. So that'll probably be the next video you see from me, like a little vlog like that, because I love this event. I look forward to it every single year. This is my third year hosting, which is super exciting. It's just a huge event which sheds a light on the people who are using technology for the good, and it's all about empowering the youth and how they can get involved in shaping their future, which is so exciting. I'm also thinking of starting a podcast, so let me know what you think of that. Let me know if that's something you're interested in or any guests you'd like me to get on. I think I would talk about just a lot of things that I want to talk about regarding like mindset, but also it would be really, really cool to talk about some techie things and get guests on. So let me know if that's something that you would like to see, and I will happily get on that in my new flat. But yeah, thank you so much for watching. Thank you so much for the endless support even though I've been in and out of YouTube. The fact that we now have like 70,000 subscribers on here blows my mind, and I don't want to leave you hanging. Thank you so much for watching. Make sure to like, comment, and subscribe if you enjoyed the video. It really helps push me out to the algorithm, so I'd greatly appreciate that. You can also follow me on socials for little behind the scenes of my life. I've got Instagram @tilly.lockey, Snapchat @tilly.lockey as well. And what else do I do? Oh, TikTok. Yeah, that's a big one. @tilly.lockey on there as well. So really just my name, you'll find it. I'm also on Spotify, Tilly Lockey, so you can be prepared and ready for the next EP. Yeah, thank you so much for watching, and I will see you in the next video when I'm in Prague.
