NEW YORK CITY VLOG | Vlog

In this vlog, Tilly Lockey documents a multi‑day trip to New York City. She begins with a smooth Aer Lingus flight to Newark, shares her excitement as a first‑time visitor, and describes early sightseeing of the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, and Times Square. Tilly recounts meals at Planet Hollywood, Serendipity, Ben & Jerry’s, and highlights a memorable waitress named Peggy. She explores Macy’s holiday displays, shops for shoes needed for an upcoming awards ceremony, and visits the famous Kleinfeld bridal boutique despite not being engaged. The vlog captures a pre‑award party where she meets fellow attendees, takes photos, and networks. Tilly reflects on her double‑amputee prosthetic hands, emphasizing how they enable multitasking and personal expression. She mentions an interview scheduled with Maria, a planned speech at the award ceremony, and concludes with travel logistics for the next leg of the journey to Doha and Jakarta. Throughout, the tone is upbeat, conversational, and enthusiastic, showcasing both the tourist experience and the personal significance of the event for Tilly.

Hi everyone, so we are here in New York. We safely arrived and the plane was actually really great. We were with Aer Lingus and huge shout out to them because the plane was like really, really good. It didn't feel like 7 hours at all, it was great. Uh, but we're here now and we were just driving in from the airport.
We were—
came in at Newark and we were just driving to the hotel. In the traffic and stuff, but it was actually quite cool. Saw the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, all of that. And it's really cool, it is my first time here, so I'm really super excited. But we have just got in now, but I think we're gonna head out again to eat because I am starving. So I think we're going to Times Square where we're going to go to a restaurant or something. So that'll be fun. I'm really excited to be here, basically. And it's gonna be a good trip, I can already tell. Hi everyone, it's Tilly. I just realized that I didn't actually do the vlog last night when we got in. I was just really, really tired and I was gonna do it, but I forgot and then I fell asleep and now it's the next day. So basically we went out for a meal, as you would have saw, and we came home and it was really, really great. The day we went to Planet Hollywood for dinner and it was really nice. I had chicken and mashed potato, which was really nice. Sounds pretty bland, but it was lush. And there was this really lovely waitress, she was called Peggy, and she was like our waitress for the day, and she was just a really, really great person and really nice. She gave us a free cup as well, so that's nice of her. So if anyone ever goes to Planet Hollywood, say hi to Peggy for us because she's a legend. But anyway, yeah, we did that, we came home, we went to sleep, and now we have a free day. So we've had breakfast and we're gonna go around, do the old all the main touristy things like Statue of Liberty. There's this really great shopping center, or mall as you say in America. So we're gonna go there. I think I need some shoes for the award ceremony because I only have big chunky trainers, not anything fancy. So I think we do need some of them. We're gonna go see the memorial, I think, and just explore New York a little more because we did go to Times Square yesterday. But we weren't there for long because we'd only got there yesterday. And yeah, so we're gonna have a look around and do your normal average touristy thing, so it'll be good. We're in Macy's and just look at this. It's unreal. There's like 8 Christmas trees. In my element. I'm obsessed with Christmas, so you know. So I just came over to this tray like, is that bread? And it actually is bread. There's like bread ornaments on the tree. There's some egg and bacon croissant. Don't know about you, but I don't want bread on my tree. I'm good, thanks. I lied, there's a lot more than 8 Christmas trees.
Hi everyone.
So we just got back in from our second day in New York, or our first full day in New York, but it was really successful. We did everything that we wanted to do. We visited the memorial, the giant shopping center, we got a nice pair of shoes for the awards ceremony, and we went to see the Statue of Liberty as well on the riverfront. So it was a really great day, and then we also went to see Frozen at the theater. I couldn't really record that because it's strictly prohibited, but we went to see that and it was amazing. It was so magical. It was really, really cool. So now we're pretty tired, or I am anyway. I'm always tired, I swear. But we're home now and gonna go in the shower because I have something going on tomorrow that I can't talk about. So yeah, that's happening. But yeah, I'm gonna go in the shower and then go to sleep because I need an early night. But Bye! Been to Ben Jerry's, got myself a nice cream.
We're free for the rest of the day just to explore again, so here we go.
Hello everybody, it is day 3, I think, and as I mentioned, we thought we had an interview, but apparently not. So we are going out. I think we're gonna try— we're gonna go to Central Park, I think, and we're gonna try and get on a little horse and carriage. So that'll be fun, good for my vlog. So, well, this is the vlog that you're watching, so yeah, you'll probably see that. But here we go.
We're on the horse ride.
So we've just found Kleinfeld from Say Yes to the Dress, so we're heading there now. Because we sent them an email, asked if we could like come in and see things even though we haven't made a reservation or anything. I'm not getting married, but they said yes, so here we go. Hey everyone, so we're just heading down now. We're gonna— I think it's just like an evening little party, so we just meet everyone, say hi, shake people's hands and stuff. So this is gonna actually probably, I think, gonna be the first of the actual reason why we're here, like actually doing this event and stuff, because at the moment we've just been traveling around in Times Square, Central Park and stuff. That's what we did today, seen the pet shop, which is really cute, all the puppies. But now it's time for business.
So we're here at the party where we're meeting everyone, and we've just been—
as a photographer, we've taken loads of pictures, talking to people seeing everyone here who's gonna be at the event tomorrow. But we're just chilling, got some food, and yeah. Hello everyone! I think I like start every time I start speaking, I always start with hello everyone, but hello everyone. We are back, we have finished partying now downstairs and it was really great. We made a lot of friends, met a lot of new people who are going to be at the event tomorrow, so we'll have lots of friends there, which is good. And they're all really cool people. Met a woman who has won an award as well, and she was really, really lovely as well. Got a lot of pictures and it was great. We had a good time. It's now 20 past 11 or something, but we're just going to sleep now basically. But we have the interview that we thought we had today tomorrow morning at 9 AM, so we're gonna have the same plan— get up, meet in the lobby half 8, have a quick breakfast, and do this interview. Like we did today. Same thing, different day, it's fine. So we've got that, and then the actual award ceremony, which is at later on in the day, like the start of the evening. So that'll be fun. Everyone's really excited, I'm excited, and we'll see everyone we met here today again. But we've had some recommendations to try out different places here today from the local New Yorkers, so we're gonna check a couple of these places out. And yeah, that's about it. So we've got a lot done these past 3 days, and we've got a lot planned for tomorrow as well, so it's gonna be good. So that became our goal, and now these hands help me both physically, obviously, because they're prosthetics, they help me to be able to multitask being double amputee. I can express myself using them because they're completely personalized. It's one of my favorite things. Hello everyone, so it's day 4, I think, 4 or 5. But we've done the interview that was supposed to go on yesterday, we've done that today with Maria. And now we're down for breakfast again, and it's pretty busy today. It's like full, and our signature table's been taken. Bacon, so we've had to take the one next to it, but it's all good. Eating some toast, no waffles, so I'm going to go find some waffles later on. But now we're finished until like 6 for the award ceremony, but apparently it's a long night. But I'm excited.
How heavy is that? Oh, heavy.
So we found the photo booth and this is my Instagram, and it's really cool because you can like click on your photos. Here's my photo. And then you can like click one and do a border. So you have the New York ones, Dylan's Candy Bar, which is where we're at. It's really cool. And then you can basically print them out, so it's really cool.
Lots of sweets as well.
We're at Serendipity, the famous ice cream parlor, and I've just ordered the Forbidden Broadway Sundae. It's like fudge, ice cream, basically everything in an ice cream. So ordered now, let's see. So our food has arrived. I decided to get these potato things as well. There's like potatoes and then mashed potato on top and then cheese on top of that. And potatoes are really filling, so I don't know what I was thinking.
But then I also have my sundae. What you doing, true?
We are at the Rio Here is the award ceremony, so we're mingling a bit, so excited.
And then yeah, I've got to go and do a little speech, say thank you for my award. Really incredible. Should be up all night, probably.
He did this because he loved all the Spanish and he wanted their vote. And because of that, my grandmother, who grew up in Little Italy in Boston when she died at the age of 104. I want to help people face any situation in life, both young and old, and show them that anything is possible and never let anything stop help you fulfilling your dreams. It's an honor to be invited in New York and be given this amazing opportunity and award. It is my first time ever here in this wonderful city, and it's been one of my dreams to come here ever since I was really little. I've always dreamed of seeing the lights of New York, and every corner you turn looks like a film set, and I'm just really grateful to have been invited here an incredible reason. I hope to accomplish seeing people with differences being proud of who they are, with or without bionics. Because after all, the best thing about us humans is that we're all unique. Not one of us looks the same, so I think we should embrace that. I want to be the spokesperson that fights for driving technology forward to help people across the globe. Make an ability stronger than disability.
So heavy.
Hi everyone, so it's bright and early in the morning and we're currently in the airport and we're going to Doha first and then from there to Jakarta. So So yeah, we're just getting ready to go on now. Found some presents for people and stuff.
New York ones.
This is so cool, man. I love this shop.
Oh, wonderful.
Talk at the same time, Tilly. Hello! I decided to get these potato things as well. There's like potatoes and then mashed potato on top and then cheese on top of that. And potatoes are really filling, so I don't know what I was thinking. But then I also have my sundae, so gonna be very fat after this. We haven't made a reservation or anything. I'm not getting married, but they said yes, so here we go.
Here we go.
They said yes to Tilly.
