SOUTH AFRICA MAKEUP - SAFARI STYLE! | Makeup

In this video, Tilly Lockey combines a makeup tutorial with a travel vlog from a safari lodge in South Africa. She introduces animal‑themed Revolution eyeshadow palettes and demonstrates a warm, neutral "safari" look while seated outdoors among deer and warthogs. Tilly narrates her recent trip, detailing her role as a speaker at the SingularityU South Africa Summit, the subsequent bush trip organized for summit participants, and the unforgettable wildlife encounters—including sightings of the Big Five, a rare hyena‑lion confrontation, and a herd of elephants at sunset. She discusses conservation challenges such as rhino horn removal to deter poaching and highlights the endangered status of white rhinos. Throughout, she promotes her Instagram (@Tilly.Lockey) for updates on her travels, modeling work, and future trips, and encourages viewers to like, comment, and subscribe.

Hi everyone, it's Tilly and welcome back to my channel. I'm on a safari lodge right now in South Africa and there's literally just deers walking around me right now. And I just, I bought some makeup palettes, eyeshadow palettes that were all like animal colored themed and they're by Revolution. So I just thought I wanted to buy them and make a makeup tutorial with them while I was out here because it kind kind of fit the theme a bit. So yeah, this is going to be a makeup vlog and it's going to be a bit more, you know, like warm tones, neutral, like a safari kind of look. And I just thought it would be fun, so here we go.
Hello everybody, it is time for the voiceover. This is the makeup look, and if you didn't know, I was recently in South Africa and I saw these makeup palettes by Revolution. It's like a set and I saw them like 3 weeks, maybe 2 weeks before we went to South Africa. And as soon as I saw them, I was just like, oh my gosh, I'm going to South Africa, I'm going on safari, I need these to make a makeup look while I was out there. And I could probably have just done it at home and been like, this is inspired by Africa, but actually being there is just amazing for me to be able to do it in such a nice environment. Because we literally just sat outside our little kind of hut. It was the Waterside Lodge we were staying in, and there's just all these little huts that everybody has, and they're like hotel rooms but all like little different houses basically, because you have your bathroom, you have your— well, you don't have your kitchen, but you have your bedroom, all them type of things, like a hotel room, but there's millions of them. So that was really, really cool, and I just thought What better place to do it than just sat outside there with the deers and the warthogs just roaming around the background? Because as you've probably seen a lot already, there's just— they just walk around behind the camera, so you really get a feel for what it was like. And it was absolutely insane, my time in South Africa. It was amazing. Uh, you probably not know what I got up to if you don't follow my Instagram because I haven't said anything about it on here. But it's all over my Instagram. I haven't shut up about it because it was such an amazing experience. But if you don't follow me, follow me on there, then definitely make sure you do. It's pretty easy, it's just Tilly.Lockey. That's Tilly full stop Lockey. That's my Instagram. So if you want to stay up to date with all my travels or just my day-to-day life, modeling shoots and stuff like that, definitely make sure to check me out on there and give me a follow because that's where I'll usually post things like this. But yeah, if you don't follow me on there and you don't know exactly what I was doing in South Africa, basically I was speaking at the SingularityU South Africa Summit. And again, if you follow me on Instagram, you'll probably know that I do a lot of stuff with SingularityU. They have a lot of different universities and summits held across worldwide, so I've done 2 or 3 3 in Amsterdam, one with the Dalai Lama, so that was pretty cool. I did one in Canada, in Edmonton, and now South Africa. So it's really been a lot of fun working with them. I love attending their events and speaking at their events. It's just always so much fun because they have all the speakers, and their speakers are always amazing. They get really interesting, amazing people with incredible stories that are just really nice to listen to. And it's basically like a lecture, so anybody can go there and just learn, or it's for big investors, so people who are trying to make a difference. They call them the changemakers, which is really suiting. And so yeah, it's just basically a chance for us to be able to share our stories with everyone. It's always a lot of fun because they have a lot of activities and stuff going on upstairs. So in this case, they had a bunch of virtual reality to try out. I did have a go. It It was amazing. We also met the dudes who work for HP and they were pretty cool as well. We just got talking to them. And then afterwards, which was amazing, because usually I'm just at these events, do the convention, and then go home. Just on the flight, speak, and then fly home again. And that's always quite sad because people are like, so what did you see? What are these, all these famous landmarks? Did you see any? Pictures and all this. But it's usually like you get there, you speak, and then you have to go. And that's kind of what a lot of the speakers did do, but they didn't just go home. They had other events to attend to. So they did this event, then they got on a flight to the next event in another country. And that is insane. I don't know. I love speaking and I'd want to do that for a living, but I don't know, flying to a country every single, like, every 3 days or so and given that speech, that presentation, I feel like it would be a bit much. So huge respect to these people who are literally country hopping and doing their presentation and inspiring people all around the world. That is amazing. But what us speakers that we didn't have to jet off to another location, what Singularity Youth South Africa organized for us was a little bush trip. And that's where I am right now in this video. Well, not speaking. I'm at home now and I'm really sad about it. And I know I'm being a typical British person here complaining about the weather, but in South Africa the heat reached— the highest I think was 40 degrees, and we're not used to that. But it was amazing. I'm not complaining about the heat, I'm complaining about the weather here. Now I'm in Newcastle, it's like rain, it's autumn here. I think it was the beginning of summer, end of spring in South Africa. So it was really, really beautiful. They had all the jacaranda trees, the purple ones. It was amazing. And then to come home to Newcastle like this, it's like, okay, I want to be back right now. But yeah, they organized a bush trip for us all and that was really amazing because for the people who stayed, it was almost like— it's cool when we're actually at the summit, but that is considered work for us. And I'm really grateful that that is my work because it's incredible. But being able to go to the bush trip afterwards and just really being able to talk to people over a meal about what they're doing is insane. Like, just nice being able to chat to such interesting people, it's amazing. But yeah, I can't express how much I love the bush trip, and I brought my sister along too and she adored it. But we did luckily manage to see the Big Five, so we saw elephants, we saw rhinos, we saw leopards, we saw lions, and we saw buffaloes. So we saw all the Big Five, and we were really lucky about that because we were only there for 3 days, and it was mainly this one morning we just got up. And that's another thing, you had to wake up at like 4 AM every day, and I'm not a morning person, so this is very rare that you're hearing me say this, but we were actually excited to wake up because you got outside It was 40 degrees. You gotta watch the sunrise and get on this huge vehicle, and it was really cool. Like, the tires were huge, there were no roofs, so you just got that breeze and you were just driving around in this vehicle seeing all these animals in their natural habitat. And the birds were singing and you were watching the sunrise and you were just talking. It was just amazing. So if it's not already on your bucket list or if you've not already done it, definitely you need to make a bucket list where you stay, having a bush trip in South Africa if you can, way at the top, because it's such a life-changing experience. And I can't express to you how much we loved it, and I definitely hope to be back soon. So I really, really, really, really, really thank you to Singing Out with You South Africa for organizing this for us. It was really incredible to be able to experience the company while we were there. But yeah, this morning we just woke up and we just saw absolutely everything. The rhino was the last thing we got to see, and it was a really shy rhino. Unfortunately, what they're having to do now at the lodge is they're having to kind of remove the rhino horn from the rhino because of all the poachers that go in and they kill it to take their horn for medicine and stuff like that. And that's unfortunate that they're gonna have to try and remove these horns from these animals now. It's for their safety so that they aren't killed for their horn. So it's really sad for the rhinos because it's part of them, but it's protecting them. So these species of the rhinos, the white rhinos, are endangered now. There's like, I think said, 8,000 of them left. So it is starting to get getting a bit more serious and now starting to really have to take care of these animals and take it into their own hands because people are just wanting to take this from the animals. So it is really sad, but it was— they were the hardest to find because they're so endangered. But it was this one morning where we just got up at 4 again, so it was really nice, and we just saw like everything. We saw these hyenas that took down a female lion, and that— our driver said he would never seen that before. He had never seen that before because it's very rare that a hyena would try and take on a lion. But they were, they were like, there were loads of these hyenas all eating this lion. And that's the thing about these bush trips, you don't know what's gonna happen. So if you are sensitive to that kind of thing, you've just got to remember that it's all circle of life, and they all have to do it to survive. So, you know, but that was insane because it's nothing in all the years of working there anybody had ever seen before. But there were about 15 of these hyenas who took out this lion and they were eating it. So that was crazy. I didn't think I'd seen that. It would just, just kind of reminded me of The Lion King, to be honest, the hyenas and the lions. So it was cool though. And then further along the line, we saw two brother lions and they were eating a buffalo that they had taken out. So it is all really just animals eating other animals, but it's always being able to— like, there's a bunch of elephants and stuff. And we were just— one day we were in this herd of elephants and the sun was starting to set, and it was just beautiful because all these elephants and the baby elephants, and they're all walking in the same direction. And the sun's setting and you're amongst them and they're all just there. It's incredible. Like, you need to go and see this. I'm being serious, it was amazing. So yeah, they were just walking around, just minding their own business while I was filming a video, which I don't mind. They can come in the video, it's okay. But we've got a couple more places to go, and, uh, before Christmas, a couple got postponed till next year, but I've now replaced them with another trip so we're not missing out. But I've got 3 more trips, so it's gonna be a lot of fun, a lot of exciting things to come. So definitely check out my Instagram and follow me on there if you want to stay up to date with everything, and I'll try and pre-record some videos so we're not missing out on— yeah. But yeah, this is the finished look. If you did like this, make sure to like, comment, and subscribe, and I'll see you next time.
