Tilly Lockey tries Soft Girl, Grunge, and Dark Academia styles for a week, rating each look and borrowing pieces from her sister's closet. She gives Soft Girl an 8/10, Grunge a 5.5/10, and Dark Academia a 7/10, and asks viewers which aesthetic they'd like to see next.

This is cozy. Hey everyone, it's Tilly. Welcome to, or welcome back to, my YouTube channel. I am basically going to be trying out a bunch of different aesthetics every day this week. I put on my Instagram story asking what kind of aesthetics you guys wanted me to try, and I got a lot sent in, so it's gonna be a fun week, I think. I feel like especially on TikTok, there's this big thing around aesthetics And if I'm quite honest, I don't really know what mine is. Like, I just like what I like. I like different things from each label, I guess you could say. But I thought this would be a fun video just to try out all these different very extra out-there aesthetics, see which one I like most, just see if I can pull them all off. Unlikely. So the first aesthetic that I'm going to be doing today is the soft girl aesthetic, which I've seen a lot of. I just got my phone here and I've been looking on Pinterest a lot for the inspiration for everything in this video. But yeah, it would all Pinterest. Thank the lords and heavens above for Pinterest. So as you can see, under the soft girl aesthetic, there's an awful lot of pink, an awful lot of like pastel colors. And to be honest, to me this just seems really, really like girly and cutesy, which I think I can get behind 100%. I'm really excited for this. I'm basically going to be putting my heart and soul into all these aesthetics, and I'm gonna base my whole look around that. So that's hair, makeup, and fashion, everything that you can think of is going to be around this one aesthetic, and each aesthetic for a different day. Also, please do not come at me for that foundation. It is my mom's. I ran out of my own foundation, so I had to make do. But I did make sure to put on a bunch of powder, like so much powder, to try and just even it out as much as possible, because I'm aware that this was really orange for me. But this is how it turned out. I think it went pretty well. I just went for like a like a pink eye, lots and lots and lots of blush. I did some fake freckles. I don't think fake freckles are for me, but I'm glad I filmed this video. I probably wouldn't have tried it otherwise. The next thing I'm gonna do is my hair, and I found a soft girl— if you can call it that— kind of hairstyle that I want to recreate. So this is the hair that I want to recreate. It's kind of like half up, half down. I just thought this was really, really cute. And easy to recreate. So let's go do that. Okay, so here is my hair done. It's like really cutesy, very soft girl vibe, which is what we're going for. I think I definitely will be doing this hair more often. Now it's time to get me into a soft girl outfit. I'm heading up to my older sister's wardrobe bedroom for this because I know she's got some soft girl attire that I can steal.
Ta-da!
So this is what I'm wearing. I'm gonna stand up so you can see the bottoms as well, but this is my sister's jumper ripoff of Nike over here. I've seen this a lot, like, in the whole soft girl aesthetic. I knew my sister had this and I knew that I had to wear it for this— I was gonna say reincarnation, but that's not it. Like, recreating— the recreation of the e-girl soft girl— the recreation of the soft girl look. Whatever, you know what I mean. And then what I paired with this was some of my own trousers. I'll literally stand on the couch so you can see. I mean, they're really creased, but these are some blue denim trousers. They're like kind of wide leg at the bottom. It's kind of hard for me to show you. They're tied with this belt which goes right the way around. I definitely love this outfit so much, and this is an outfit I would wear as well. Tilly with the soft girl aesthetic.
I quite like it.
Can we just like not talk about how I look right now? I think it's really funny and ironic because I'm all like, oh my god, I love fashion, but in reality, most of the time I do look like this. I'm literally wearing joggers, Marvel socks right now, some Lucky Finn Project merchandise. Back in this spot again because today it is day 2. The aesthetic we're going to be recreating today is, drum roll please, grunge. What I get from the grunge aesthetic is kind of like that kind of skater vibe, and there's a lot of more darker colors rather than the pinks and pastels earlier. But overall, this just looks really, really cool. Okay, so my makeup is complete. I really like this, guys. It's like a kind of glam. Did some eyeliner, but I like fuzzed it out a bit. I actually just took my hair out of the ponytail that it was in, and I think it suits the vibe, the grunge vibe, pretty well. Like, the grunge aesthetic is pretty laid back. I've got no clue what I'm gonna wear for clothes, so I'm gonna have to go have a look.
Hi everyone, it is day 3 and day of the dark academia aesthetic.
Now I am familiar with this aesthetic, I love it so much. It consists of a lot of neutral tones and honestly I just get Harry Potter vibes, and who doesn't want Harry Potter vibes in their life? Okay, so here is my hair and makeup complete. I went for like a red kind of Renaissance look, and I then just like brushed through my hair a bit and stuck a hairband in, and I feel like this looks very academic. I love this makeup. For one, I wear this makeup like all the time. I think it's really, really pretty, really classic, which I like. I'm gonna try and show you my outfit the best that I can. So I'm wearing this black bodysuit which I wore for the grunge look underneath the t-shirt, but this time I'm just wearing the bodysuit. And then I'm wearing this little— it's a mini skirt. I think this is suede or something. I don't really know the exact term. With like a checky little skirt.
Let's take some photos!
Just now remembered, that I was supposed to be rating these, so I'm gonna rate everything up to this point. Soft girl, I think, was very me and something that I would like easily walk out the house in, like no big deal, and quite similar to a lot of the stuff I wear already. So I would probably give the soft girl aesthetic for me maybe like an 8 out of 10. Then the second one was grunge. Grunge was different for me. I did really, really like it though. Um, it's probably not one that I would choose to go out in, if you know what I mean. I wouldn't have a problem going out on it, like I would more than happily leave the house in how I looked yesterday, but I don't know, I just would— it's not my favorite, if you know what I mean. So I would probably give the grunge look maybe 5.5. Yes, we're bringing points in where I'm not indecisive. Yeah, so grunge is about 5.5 for me. And dark academia today, as I said, I've done looks like this before, and I really like it. I love the makeup and everything. So I would probably give this, ooh, maybe like a 7 out of 10, just because I feel like it's not really different for me. Like, whereas the soft girl was kind of a little bit different, whereas this is just— I feel like I'm just me. I do really, really like it, but I don't know, it doesn't excite me as much. Does that make sense? So I would probably give the dark academia aesthetic about a 7 out of 10. Hi everyone, this is just me editing right now. I'm editing this video and I was really debating whether to have every single aesthetic that I'm going to do in this one video or whether to split it into parts. And I was kind of unsure about that decision, but whilst I've been editing, the video is getting longer and longer and my storage is getting fuller and fuller. So I've decided that the best thing to do for me is to split this video into two parts. So next time I will be doing three more aesthetics, and it'll be coming next week. So I'm gonna wrap this one up here. I really hope you enjoyed this video. Definitely let me know which aesthetic out of these three that you liked best on me and which ones you want me to do or excited for me to do. Yeah, just let me know what you thought. Make sure to like, comment, and subscribe, and I will see See you all next time.
