trying to do my makeup with my LEAST DOMINANT BIONIC ARM... this was stressful.

Tilly Lockey does a full makeup look using only her left prosthetic arm while her right bionic arm is being repaired. She applies a purple cut-crease with glitter and eyeliner, but drops brushes, smudges eyeshadow, and struggles with the fatigue and awkwardness of her weaker arm throughout.

Hi everyone, it's Tilly. Welcome back to my YouTube channel. Today, as you would have seen by the title, we're doing quite a different video, but I'm going to be attempting to do a full face of makeup using my least dominant arm, which also happens to be a prosthetic. So first of all, just a little bit of an explanation. I actually at the moment only have my left arm. My right arm has been shipped off to well, not shipped off because it's still in the UK, but we've sent my other right bionic arm to Open Bionics in Bristol at the lab that makes these bionic arms because my right arm got stuck with the middle finger up. Don't ask me how, definitely do not jump to conclusions. I was not just running around flipping like my sisters off or anything. The string that connects the fingers to the palm got a little bit frayed, and if I close my hand then the strings will like pull inwards. So if this string is frayed, then it causes the middle finger not being able to go down, and obviously that's not good. Every time I do an interview, I don't want to be flipping off everybody, even when I'm doing a YouTube video. So we just thought it was best to, um, go and get that fixed. So I actually only have my left arm, and I could have just done a normal makeup tutorial today, but I had the idea since I don't have the other one and this is my least dominant hand Why not try and do my makeup with my least dominant left arm? So here we go, I hope you enjoy. I also purposely chose quite a complex makeup look. We're going to be doing a purple cut crease with like glitter and eyeliner and everything, just because I thought it'd be funnier for you to watch me struggle with one left arm because my left arm just isn't very good. It's not as like precise or anything, so I really don't know if this is going to turn out at all like good. But let's just see. As you can see, I've already got my eyebrows done and I've primed my face, so let's just get straight into doing some eyeshadow. I'm using the Maybelline New York SuperStay Full Coverage Concealer, and I'm just gonna like draw out and set my eyelid for everything that's about to happen. So I'm just gonna like draw this out and underneath my eyebrow, hopefully without ruining it, just so all my eyelid is the same tone and color, so it'll be easier for the eyeshadow to go on. Just to let everyone know, I am actually trying for this video. I want this makeup look to be nice and work out, so fingers crossed it will actually work. So now I've got that all set and ready, I'm gonna go in with a kind of fluffy brush, this one here, and I'm gonna go in with a light purple. This is really strange, I don't even know how to hold these. I'm like fully twisting my arm around. To be able to do that. Okay, ignore any facial expressions I make, please. Honestly, I'm poking myself in the eye doing eyeshadow, so just you wait until we get to mascara. Okay, so as you can see, we have a hint of pink there, and you can't really see a huge difference now, but when I add all the other colors, you definitely will. There we go. Next, I'm going in with a buffer brush like this one here, and I'm gonna go in with a light purple. Can I just say, my arm is really, really tired in here. Like, my left arm is so weak just on its own. My right arm, I can like carry a bionic arm and do everything. But my left arm is just so weak because I usually a lot of the time only wear the right arm, so my muscle has not warmed up at all. And my— these are the Alita arms and they're heavier than my just normal Hero Arms, but it's fine. Next I'm gonna go in with a smaller buffer brush like this and go in with the darker purple. Palette that I'm— oh, never mind, I dropped it. Wait, I think I have this in the wrong way. Hang on, let me try and sort this out. I'm not used to everything like being inverted. I think I need to flip the brush around. Hopefully this will be better. Okay, I think that's better. Okay, I feel like this video is just gonna be me completely just raging. I dropped it again. If this brush doesn't stay in place— do you see that? It's like wibbling about. I've just got to kind of trust the process attitude towards this look because maybe it'll be better once I've added everything else, because at the moment it's just a mess because I'm using my least dominant arm and I'm not used to doing it this way. Okay, now I'm going in with a flat brush like this right in the darkest purple shade that I'm gonna use and making that the outer corner. Kind of look like I've just been punched, to be honest. This isn't going too well, not as I'd hoped, but exactly what I had expected. I'm such a perfectionist as well, so this video is really gonna stress me out filming it. I can already tell. But now I'm gonna just ignore this and try and move on to the cut crease. Trust the process, Tilly, trust the process. Okay, I'm gonna go in with this flatter brush and put on a little bit of foundation and— oh, that's a lot of foundation. Okay, and just try and cut this crease without making it absolute state of myself. Okay, okay, concentration is real. Okay, it's not perfect, far from perfect, but we can work with it. But I'm just gonna try and make it a little bit better. Can you hear that screeching outside? Doesn't sound like social distancing to me. Okay, that's what I'm gonna do, and now I'm just gonna chuck some glitter on it. I can't— oh my gosh, I literally say, right, that's all I'm gonna do, and then go back in with a brush. Okay, now I'm gonna leave it. Yes, I'm gonna leave it. And I've got this really, really pretty beautiful glitter from Shrine. Oh, I dropped my thing. That I'm gonna use today is like my favorite part of any makeup look, is glitter. Of course, have you met me? Are you regular to this channel? You should know that this glitter can save us or break us, because I could go overload and put far too much on and it fall everywhere. It's already flying everywhere, and I'm just gonna dab this This is really difficult, like twisting the arm. I feel like I'm moving my face more than the actual hand. This looks an absolute mess. There's like no hiding it. I'm not gonna argue, that's always the answer. Okay, I think there's my cut crease, the best it's gonna be, and I'm really, really scared for this next part. Part because I need to do like purple eyeliner. Let's see how it goes. And I've ditched the tape, we're not using the tape today because I want to see the steadiness and the skill I have just in my weak left arm. And we're going to try and bring it out a little bit. I don't really know what I'm doing here, folks. Okay, that's, that's alright, I guess. Okay, now I'm gonna take that same concealer and just try and do a cross like this, which sounds like an easy task. It's definitely easier said than done. Let's ignore that. So we're going That's okay. I mean, definitely not the best makeup look I've ever done. We're not quite finished yet, guys. This is the part that I was really not looking forward to, and I'm gonna be— dropped on the floor. Okay, this is the— what does that say? This is the ColourPop Too Faced eyeliner. It's actually peel-off, which I think is quite cool. What I'm gonna do with that is I'm gonna go like kind of like this sort of thing, which I've never actually done before, even with my right arm. So I mean, wish me luck. This is the part where it all goes wrong. Well, it's already went wrong, to be honest, so whatever. Let's just YOLO. I think what I'm gonna do is literally just be like and hope that it goes well. I mean, you can't— okay, uh, okay, so it's a bit all over the place. I think, I think we might be able to fix it. Oh my gosh, I've just looked in the mirror. Ew. Okay, okay, after quite a long time of contemplating what to do, I'm thinking I might just try and cover the whole eye look up with my eyelashes. Luckily I was blessed with naturally quite long lashes. Well, when you put mascara on them, they go quite long. I'm thinking that could be a plan, you know, just to like— and cover it up. Kind of defeats the point of the video, but you gotta do what you gotta do. This is a mascara primer that I'm just gonna put on to make my eyelashes even longer, to cover up the mess that we have made. I do not trust the almond inside this in the slightest. My arm inside of this. You can't forget the bottom lashes. I do want to just like try and carve this out a little bit around my eyebrow to make it a little bit more polished with this little brush. And I think there's far too much on there. Hang on, I've completely just colored in my eyebrow. Yeah, that has not went well at all. Oh my gosh, I swear I'm literally just making this worse and worse for myself. Now half my eyebrow's gone. I highkey hate this, like fully hate this. I literally look like a 6-year-old kid has found their mom's makeup for the first time. My face is looking terrible right now. Someone please remind me why I thought this would be a good video to film. Right, I'm just gonna hide it. I'm gonna run away from my misfortunes and cover it up with some mascara. But this will probably end up making me cry, like, because it'll not go well. I mean, that's just guaranteed at this point. The true eyelashes are the only thing that is going for me at this point. Yay! That is literally the best that my eyeshadow is gonna get. So yeah, that's kind of the main thing that I was probably gonna struggle with. I mean, I say that now, but I'm gonna try and do the rest of my face using my left arm as well. Not enjoying this. Hopefully the rest of my, like, face makeup will be easier to do than the eye makeup. I really hope it is because I'm not prepared to go through that again. But I'm just gonna stick this foundation everywhere, try makeup for my ugly eyes. Usually I have to be really, really careful, and I always get really worried that I'm gonna take some of my eyeshadow off, but at this point, I can go. Next, I'm going in and doing some contour, so I'm just gonna dip into some of this. And I feel like this wrist is a lot more harder to turn because I don't wear this one and turn the wrist half as much. As I do the other one, so it's a bit rusty. This is why you should never skip arm day at the gym, y'all. I could literally get proper guns from— guns as in muscles, not actual guns. Now I'm gonna dip this little brush here into some powder and try and like set my face. I just fell out and it like ruined everything. Attempt 2. That just made a mess everywhere. I hope I caught that on camera. It just flung all over us. As you can see, I haven't done this other eye. It was too stressful. I'll do it once everything's done to show you like the full complete look, but I'm not prepared to record that as well because it'll just be me raging and being really annoyed. You can actually see the powder all over my arm. It just exploded on me. Okay, now I'm back after like 15 minutes, and I'm just gonna swipe this all off, you know, watching out for the eyeshadow that we all love. Okay, next I'm gonna go in with this brush here and get some blusher. Blusher literally can solve all of my problems. I feel like everyone seems to think that I'm such a patient person when really, if I wasn't recording right now, I would have rage quit a long time ago. Highlight in my eye, highlight in my eye. Okay, last but not least, I've never been happier to complete a makeup look other than this eye I've got to do. Um, I'm gonna add some lip gloss. Lip gloss. Okay, I'll see you in a sec. I'm gonna do this other eye again using my left arm, and then I'll be able to show you the finished look. Okay, I've just completed the other eye, and I do actually think that was a lot easier than this one for some reason. I don't know, just went a little bit more smoother. Still, I'm not claiming that they're good because they're not. Still use my left arm, but I'm gonna show you up close look of what they look like. They do not look symmetrical at all as well, but I tried my best, okay? So as a result, I do think doing the face makeup is a lot easier than doing eye makeup because because it's a lot more precise. And yeah, I just can't wait to get my right arm back, and maybe I would have done a much better job. And I think I definitely would have. But anyway, I hope you enjoyed this video. I hope you like the makeup look, I guess. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe, and I will see you all next time. Bye!
