Your home, whether big or small, should be your sanctuary, your haven, a place where stress is left at the door and peace and organization welcome you in. If that sounds nothing like your living space, I understand. Then listen up. Tisha Morris, who is an author and feng shui consultant, has some tips on how to create a sanctuary in your home. Good to have you with us here on Talk of the Town today. All right, for folks who are watching right now and this mind-body home or feng shui, and don't, don't totally I understand that. Explain more about that.
It's about having your home feel good and look good as well. Okay. So it's a combination of both. And so, you know, our home should be a supportive environment, not challenging. Okay. And so when you come home, even if you have dishes in the sink or laundry to do, there's some things you can do to have a sanctuary in your home.
Alright, so we've got a couple of ideas here, and part of it is as easy as dealing with a certain type of plants.
Yeah, plants are a great way to bring positive energy into your home. Anytime you can bring the outdoors in, it's gonna make is gonna have a better environment in general. And so plants are a great way to do this. They're great for hiding electrical cords. They soften electronics, you know, on the TV or things like that. And yeah, the different kinds of leaves are important. These are kind of a softer, a little bit of a round. These actually have even have a little heart-shaped look to them. But you want to avoid spiky plants, especially around when sleeping. The energy is a little bit abrasive with spiky plants.
Okay, alright. So things that we put on the wall, we love having mirrors in the house, but there is a place, a room place for the mirrors and kind of a do and don't on where to hang these.
Yeah, I have a lot of clients that always ask me, where should I hang mirrors? And mirrors, they can, they're called the band-aid of feng shui, okay? And there's some dos and don'ts if you want to bring some energy into a room, maybe it's a dark room, maybe a dark hallway, a mirror is a great place for that. You always want to make sure and notice what it's reflecting, what's reflecting across from it. If you're reflecting just clutter or like a cluttered bookshelf or something, then that's a no-no.
Okay.
You also want to make sure what it's reflecting, if your neck is being cut off or like if it's any kind of distortion, you want to avoid that.
All right, and then talk to us about the shells there. What do they do? Is it the ocean feel or is it just maybe something from a vacation?
Well, it's It's about taking things that mean something to you, and these are from a vacation. And so let's talk for a second about clutter.
Okay.
You want to avoid having anything in your home that you no longer love or that just doesn't— you just don't like. You know, just don't have things around the house just for the sake of having things around the house.
Okay.
And so bringing in items, whether they're from vacation or that have positive memories for you, and again, this is a great way, whether it's rocks or stones or feathers that you've found on a walk or something that you can decorate your home with, again bringing the outdoors in.
Alright, so some great information there. Thank you very much for being with us today.
