Excerpt from a YouTube interview with Dr. Beth DuPree in which she describes integrating psychedelic-informed therapeutic approaches alongside conventional cancer treatments. Dr. DuPree emphasizes that while surgery, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and radiation address the physical tumor, underlying factors (the “root problem”) can remain and contribute to recurrence; psychedelic-informed care is presented as a complementary approach to enhance overall patient care.

That is what I do. And I'm still a damn good surgeon. But it means that when I look at someone with cancer now, I look at really, how am I going to help that person's physical body? Because I could help physically remove cancer. I can cut it out. We can give the right chemo, we can give the right anti estrogen, we can give the right radiation therapy.
But the root problem may still be there.
Bingo. And so that's where you walk between the worlds, because I see the benefit of the work that I'm doing and that I've learned to do through my psychedelic training to be bringing our care to another notch. This is where people talk about, this is not alternative medicine. This is a complement to what we already know can treat the physical body. But we know that people's cancers recur against our greatest dismay, that we can't cure everybody.
