Well, thanks for having me, Todd. I'm super excited to be here.
Yeah, I think it's a really fascinating topic that I know a lot of people are intrigued by because if I understand correctly, the behaviors or the results that we're creating in our lives has a lot to do with our rewiring. And I know that you Work with sales teams and leadership teams and elite entrepreneurs to rewire their brain to cause them to transform their money or their business or your life. What's keeping people, like, what's keeping people stuck? Let's start there.
I'm going to tell you, the one thing that keeps people stuck is going to be the exact opposite of what you think it is, really. It's success. Your past successes is what's keeping you stuck in your current reality. I know it's kind of hard to believe when people listen to that. Like, wait, what, what does that mean? Exactly? And I'm sure we're going to dive into further. But the thing is that when we get stuck in our successes, people used to call it the arrival syndrome. It's not. It's a dopamine trigger. And what happens is that we always try to chase that same level, that same dopamine strike that we had before that keeps us stuck. And we always try to go for that again and again and again. It's the past success that prevents our future growth because we don't grow in a simple trajectory. Because, look, we're all on entrepreneurs, leaders, success, people on this call. We've had success. And then what happens after success? We crash, then another success, then we crash. We love to talk about their successes. We don't talk about our crashes. And so, which is a very normal thing for us to do. We don't look at that. But it's our successes of the past that prevent future big growth.
Okay, now I totally get this, and I see it in my life. And one of the quotes that's coming to mind right now is that comfort is the enemy of growth. So does that fit in here? Like, does our past success and us getting comfortable get us stuck using the strategies that helped unlock the first breakthrough but not the next ones?
No, it's not even about that. You got to think about it, right? The human brain and body is built in a balanced organism. It's not about the highs and the lows. Right? Excuse me. Not about. Just about the high, and then the next high, then the next high. Our brain is structured where we're building to be able to grow it. So we're going to get this dopamine spike after we're chasing something. We set this goal, we set this target. We go after we achieve it. And then once we achieve it now the thing becomes. Falls down and you're like, I don't feel good anymore. We are built on this stress cycle as entrepreneurs. That's why an entrepreneurial health which is what I focus on. I look at entrepreneurs and they keep throwing themselves into anxiety, depression, chaos, business success chaos, and all that because of that, because they're chasing the dopamine cycle. We have something, and something I've coined is a term called positive trauma. We have negative trauma that everyone associates and says that's bad. I don't have any, I don't want negative trauma. We also have something called positive trauma. And the positive trauma actually creates the negative cycle. Because you can't, if you can't go up, you're going to go down, right? You have to go up and down. It's going to be cycle that way. So in the past, when we become too elated, too unrealistic, too focused on a big successful adventure, maybe you hit it, maybe you get there, you hit it. Then what happened in your life is, I promise you with 100% certainty, there was some crash, some chaos, some business world challenge, some health challenge, some relationship challenge that happened. And in order to break that cycle, we as an entrepreneur have to realize that it's not about the next big, big thing, it's about balancing it so that you can achieve the next level of success.
Bro, you're like talking right to me. Like, I am. I've had some incredible success in my life. You know, I'm, as you know, I'm one of Tony's speakers and I speak now at every one of his events. Almost everyone, excuse me. And my book just hit number one on the best sellers list and like, but, but I still feel like I'm stuck operating out of survival brain like 99% of the time. Doesn't that make it very hard for me to change my long term patterns?
It is. And if I can be bold enough, since you're so vulnerable enough to share that it is what it's going to do and it's going to create anxiety, it's going to cause high blood pressure, it's going to cause adrenal fatigue. And this is the entrepreneurial game. Successes we reward in our society. These successes we go on. But then when you look at the health of an individual, you look at really what's going on. It's the successes that create the health chaos. And people don't talk about it. They say, hey look, I can just afford more things, I can buy more things, I can buy better health. Steve Jobs can probably argue differently, right? And so you're right, you've had all these successes, which is amazing, but our mind is disconnected from that. So we hit these achievement levels and Then what we do is that we have to have the downside. So what happens is you have norepinephrine and epinephrine, which are these neurotransmitters that are going to cause you stress and adrenaline inside of your system, in your body, and that is actually going to prevent you from having the next growth. And ultimately, not just you, Todd, but every entrepreneur, then what we do is we get the dopamine drive that in order to feel fulfilled and feel that rush again, I got to go after it again. I got to go after it again. You know what? Then the next challenge, Then you hit these next challenges. But what about the chaos that's going on the backside that you're not willing to look at? Not you specifically, but most entrepreneurs don't. Look, I got a client right now. I'm working with him. His business just hit a super high level for him. He went from like 30 million to he just crossed 75 million. And he did some amazing numbers. But now his marriage is falling apart, and I'm like, dude, you don't realize this is the balance. You have to look at the balance inside your business. And then why is that making. Why does that make any sense? Because your brain is always structured towards making sure that you stay in balance. The more off balance you become in your brain, the more your outside world is going to reflect that. And the more grounded you become in your brain and your health, the more your outside world is going to reflect that. So I like to sit and say that is that don't chase success. Which is why I wrote the first book, Chasing Success. Don't chase success. Actually attain it steady, gradually, so that you can manage the growth and. And actually live within it.
And is there a rewiring that can take place? Because I know that, look, there are people that are dealing with chasing success and the dopamine. There are other people that are struggling with. They've achieved success, but the financial impact hasn't caught up to the exterior success. And there are people that are still trying to figure out, like, how do they get to where their vision is and are stuck in, like, quicksand? You know, they're all different challenges, but something tells me that there's a rewiring element for each of them. Am I. AM I close?
100%. 100%. Right. I like to. When I. In my programs, my events, when we talk about. Is that in your system, if you manage the dopamine, you'll manage your success?
Right?
It's not about. Yes, you have to go Back to manage the successes. You also have to go back to manage the past emotions. I'll give you an example. Let's say, for example, someone listening on this podcast, they're a business owner, they've done successful in their business, they made lots of money, but they had a customer or an employee steal money from them. They're gonna have resentment towards that person, right? That's natural in that mechanism. But that resentment is gonna get locked into your nervous system and locked into your brain and. And then it's going to resist future growth. Because in the past, if you resented something, why would you want it again? So we call these things as limiting beliefs in our world, right? In the personal development world. But I'll tell you that there is no such thing as a limiting belief. Not one. It's not true. It doesn't even exist. Our brain is built on the mechanism to make sure that it's going to do everything to make you survive. And so we sit and say we have these limiting beliefs. It's not limiting. You've just had a past experience that has caused you resentment. So unless you go rewire that, you're always going to try and avoid that and you're going to say, why am I sabotaging myself? It's because you're limiting beliefs. It's not true. It's because your past that you haven't learned to heal and balance it and rewire that so that you can actually move forward with grace.
Okay, dude, I love this. So somebody that is struggling, which I think we all are, one way or another, somebody that's struggling is their first step to start reviewing where they got stuck in the past so they can release themselves so they can move forward.
Partly I would say that's one of the first steps to do to look at your past. But I would say, honestly, first step to do is breathe. Yeah, first step to do is breathe. Like I was in Maui, I was just telling you, I was in Hawaii on vacation with my family and we were stuck on a cliff and literally one lane highway we're going through because the roads were closed and we're on a one lane highway we're going across and literally we're stuck. If I opened my door and took a step out, Todd, I would have hit the bottom of this canyon. It was death defy. It was horrific. My family's freaking out. I'm freaking out, My driver's freaking out, right? And the local jumps in the car, takes the car and pulls it away. But we are like, this was going on for two hours. So our nervous system, our adrenal system, our brain was under this high amount of stress and literally the whole time, there's no rewiring in that experience. But what we're doing is we're breathing. We're breathing to try and bring our nervousness down. Because when you take a deep breath, you have two parts of your nervous system. And I'm getting a little geeky here, if that's okay with you.
Todd, please.
Do you have two parts of your nervous system? People have heard about the sympathetic nervous system, which is the stress nervous system, and then the parasympathetic nervous system. When you take a deep breath, the lower part of your lungs activates the parasympathetic nervous system. So when we're stressed, what do we do? Short breath, high heart rate, high intensity heart rate versus long deep breaths. We're activating the lower lungs and we activate the lower lungs, we activate the parasympathetic nervous system. So what I tell people is that before you jump into rewiring and start doing that, so start using your body as your format to be able to get the pathway to the brain open. And so start by breathing, Start by breathing. We all have a frequency of breath and typically four on the inhale, six to seven on the exhale. And if we follow this pattern, we hit a frequency of grounding ourselves, reorganizing ourselves. Then I would start asking myself the question and said, where in the past what emotions are? There's five primary emotions that I've basically deducted. In our world, we've created infatuation, we create pride, we create resentment, guilt and shame. These are the five primary emotions of every experience we go through. And every experience where you're holding on to resentment or shame, you're preventing wealth and income to come into your life because whatever you resent, you resist, whatever you have shame or guilt towards, you give away towards. In my, in my book Wired for Wealth, I talk about this specifically about making sure that we are taking. Because our self worth and our net worth are correlated, right? Like we can chase success after success, but is it really making our self worth grow or is it really, really there? Because here's what I found is that a lot of people are successful and they're successful and they're successful and they show their successes. They have cars, yachts, boats, all that great stuff, right? Fantastic. I love all that. Enjoy it. But what's their real net worth? And I promise you, if I look at their real net worth and their real self worth, the two very. There's a discrepancy inside of it. It's not what you show to the world. It's what's real to you inside. That's kind of what I'd say.
I know it's hot here, so it's not what you show to the world.
I love that.
It's, you know, I'm in Scottsdale, Arizona, bro. It gets warm here, you've got to keep a fan nearby.
Yeah. Not what you show the world. It's what your real net is at the end of the day. Because your net is your emotional state. That emotional state is going to determine your success or your failure. And we all, as entrepreneurs, we go through this, right? High highs, low lows. High highs, low lows. By the time you hit the third cycle, that's when people start. Stop doing things neurologically. When we set goals, most people are setting goals that are set so far, so delusional that they don't ever achieve them. And what it does, it causes them stress, chaos, and never achieve it. And what I call that is goal impotence. Right? It's goal impotence because you can't ever get there. And then, I know everyone says, think big, but look, if it's gonna think big, but it. Anyone says make it so big that it scares the bejesus out of you. Like, hold on. Wait a minute. What's happened to your blood work? What's happened to your chemistry? What's happened to your cortisol levels? What's happening to your cholesterol levels? What's happening. Your testosterone, your estrogen levels? These are the factors that you look at. Like, when I look at someone, Todd, I'll take their blood work. I'll say, you can tell me whatever story you want to. That's good. Give me your blood work. Because from your blood work, I can tell you your psychology. Rewire your brain and then change your blood work.
Wow.
That is the ultimate answer.
Yeah. Okay, so in a moment, I want to ask you, like, what types of. It's not limiting beliefs, but it is. Like, past trauma or what types of outcomes can you help people generate? I want to get to that in a moment, but I've heard you say that stress is an inability to changing to a changing environment. Or, excuse me, an inability to change to a changing environment. And that creates stress. And if you weren't getting stressed, that would mean that you were thriving to the changing environment and willing to adjust to it, and you'd be kind of chilled to it. Am I kind of on path here.
So what we as in society, we define stress as negative, right? We say stress is bad, stress is bad. It's not true. We have all types of stress. We have two types of stress. We have distress and then we have eustress. Right? And for the listeners, just to give clarity, maybe you know it, but distress is what's stopping you. It's in the way. What you stress is. It's helping you get what you want. It's helping. If it's helping you move forward, that's you stress. If it's distress, it's something that's in your brain, in your amygdala, and it's creating a charge and emotion preventing you from moving forward. So what I help people do is take people from distress to eustress to help them get more of what they want.
They can use it.
They can use it. Everything in life that's happening, it's happening. And as Tony says, right, it's happening for you, not to you. Right? That's Tony's thing inside that. But your brain, if it's in the way, it's blocking you from moving towards what's on the way.
Okay? I love it. What can rewiring of people's brains help them to accomplish?
Man, I've seen everything. I've seen people who are doing $200,000 a year jump to, you know, 1.3 million in a matter of 11 months. I've seen people, you know, marriages that were on the rocks change. I've seen people's health, their high blood pressure, I've seen people with ailments and diseases and lupus and diabetes reverse. Because you're changing the way that you're thinking inside of it. And literally, like we talk about, you know, all these, our health issues, our health system is jacked, right? You know this, I know this. Our health system is jacked. And so I've seen people with lupus, it's supposed to be an uncurable disease, rewired, gone. Autoimmune disorders, gone. I've seen people with diabetes gone. I've seen people with irritable bowel disease, Crohn's disease, gone. That's just the health side of it. Now, once you get that, then you get the X factor, which is the energy. Then I've seen businesses go from, you know, 500 grand to doing 5 million. Five million dollar businesses doing 100 million. I've worked with athletes who won gold medals inside this. I've worked with athletes who've won, you know, golf championships. The thing Is this as we talk about mental health as being a problem? 72% of entrepreneurs, Todd, really, this is really interesting. 72% of entrepreneurs deal with some sort of a mental health condition. We don't call it that, we don't call it that. We call it grinding it out, working harder, making it work. Because we're an entrepreneur, we take this badge of honor in that. And that's really not true. What it's doing to our body is breaking down. And I like to sit and say mental health is not a mental problem, it's a whole body. If you have a mental health problem, it's a whole body problem because 94% of the serotonin is made in the stomach. So as entrepreneurs, I know entrepreneurs are like, well, I don't focus on my health, I don't look at my health, you know, and they go home, they have a vodka tonic, and that's how they get over their stress of the day. Yeah, that's probably not the best way to do it in the long run because that over time beats us up. Or when we, you know, you go to these conferences that I go to as well. Right. And you walk in the room and this is a business conference and I look at people and look at their health and I'm like, I know, I'm like, it's just not right. And so I'm hopefully trying to make a dent in that world to say, guys, if we want to be leaders as entrepreneurs, we got to also take charge of our health and take the mental health, the physical health and combine the two rather than just think it's a physical problem.
Dr. Trivedi, here's something. As you were talking, it made me realize that this weekend I was at a friend's cabin up north and there were three couples that we've all known each other for a very long time. The two of us are entrepreneurs. Totally grind it out, guys that'll push through perseverance. A year ago when we all did the same trip together we had, the entrepreneurs were in the same exact problems and the non entrepreneur was the most relaxed. And yet we were all making the same amount of money. And it was so obvious to me that the problem that I was stuck in and the problem that my fellow entrepreneur were stuck in are the same friggin ones that we're recreating and trying to get out of, but we're just grinding it out and, and it's like, I can't imagine going on like this anymore. And I know that other people are struggling too. And when you and I spoke, spoke privately, I've confided in you, and I don't mind telling my audience because I've shared this, but for years, up Until I was 25, I struggled with attention disorders, dyslexia, visual and auditory perception impairments, and just multiple learning disabilities. And it pretty much fucked up everything in my younger years. But I rewired my brain, and I got help from somebody who is an absolute guru, my grandfather, an early pioneer of American metaphysics, who was patient enough with me to help rewire my brain. And it changed my entire life. But I think this is what you offer people. It's like you offer people what I've already got, but at this stage of my life now, you know, at 50, it's probably time again, and I'm sure there's more people that need to break through and rewire. What do you say to people like me?
Well, I say, you know, first of all, congratulations for you for doing the work on yourself and taking the courage to work on yourself. Right. And you're right. Right. We as entrepreneurs, when you look at it, are we living the life that we want, or we just addicted to the. Addicted to the chase? And I think more often than not, we're addicted to the chase inside it. Because the dopamine, it's just one. It's one simple neurotransmitter. It's dopamine. Because at some point when we were children, we didn't have the ability and the freedom to do what we wanted to do, and we didn't feel we were worth it. And so we went out to the world to prove it to ourselves that we can have freedom and be worth it. That's my experience. That's not a scientific fact. It's just my observation. After 400,000 people over many years and work with entrepreneurs, that's what it comes down to. We didn't feel like we were enough, and we wanted some level of approval for maybe mommy or daddy. At some level. We felt rejected and we said, you know what? Screw it. Our pride took us enough and said, we're going to show the world that we can make things happen. And congratulations to ourselves for taking that right. Congratulations. Edward Hallowell, who's a Harvard professor, he talks about that ADD is a normal thing for entrepreneurs. At some level, yes. But. But at the same token, it's okay to have drive, but when it turns into something that becomes an addiction.
Right.
That's something that is breaking our body down, start aging our body rather than actually living towards longevity. I know the world is doing all these cold plunges and hot plunges and saunas, and I do them too. But what the number one factor of health and longevity that no one is able to tackle is, the piece that we're talking about is the wiring of the brain and the emotional state inside that.
All right, so I'm sold. I know people listening are sold a couple things. I want to do an event with you. I know you and I have already planning it and we're going to announce it shortly where you're going to do a webinar. We're going to teach my audience. We're going to do that. And that'll be fun. And what I really wanted to do is get my followers aware of Dr. T so we can be planting the seed of how he can help rewire your brain so you can reach your ultimate transformation in life and really live the fullness of your destiny, which I know all of us are craving inside, and it's unique to all of us. But for people that are interested right now that can't go on another day, and I know these people and often it's me. Where do they go? What do they do? And how can they get help?
Well, look, there's several different ways. I'll make it really simple. You can go to. You go to my website, you know, drewire.com youm can get my book Wired for Wealth if you're interested in learning more. If not, I'm giving you my personal email address. And if you're. If you're an entrepreneur and you're on here and you're saying, hey, look, I need help. I need. I need to get on a call. I need to schedule something with you. Then I'll have you. I'll give you my email address. You're not going to talk to me directly. You'll talk to Alex on my team. And it's just DoctoralOkDoctorRewire.com and Dr. Loctor Rewire.com. you can email me and talk to Alex and he'll set up whatever we need to do and we'll jump on and I can do whatever I can do to help you. That's the idea.
Right? Beautiful. I absolutely love it. It's incredible honor for me to talk with you. I think being a liberator is amongst the highest services you can provide on this earth. I mean that with my entire heart. Like I see you as liberating people. And I know that that's like a wonderful mission to be on is to help free people and the path to freedom individually is just a, you know, we spend our life in that path. So I want to thank you. I want people to know that they can go and email Dr. Alok. I'm going to put his contact information in this podcast. You have access to it and also access to the books. But I would recommend that if you've got a pressing need, the fast path is always available to you and the fastest path is doing the reach out, sending the email, getting into a conversation, and transforming yourself so you can reach that next level that you've always desired for yourself. Dr. Loke, thank you so much for joining me on the Todcast and for unlocking this topic about how we can rewire our brains to live our fullness of our destiny.
Thank you, Todd. Thank you for having me. Thank you for, for allowing me to do what it is I do. I appreciate you so kindly.
