When I started doing those Buy Canadian videos— see these? These are new, they're everywhere now— I had a lot of Trump voters in my comments who were saying, "Sure, Canada's gonna stop buying American products for a while, but you know, you'll start buying them again." Here's what they don't understand. Can I help you? And side note, I own a social media moderation agency. All their hate comments, I don't see, they never even get to the platform because my system screened them out, but hey, whatever. There's a whole science of consumer behavior, and one of the things that has been proven time and time again is when a product or a product category becomes unavailable for an indeterminate amount of time Consumers, almost without exception, do exactly the same thing. They look for alternatives. Sometimes they find an alternative that's better or cheaper, and then— and here's the point— they never go back to the original product. That is the moment when brand loyalty is most at risk, and marketing science has proven over and over again that those consumers will never return. So sure, will the tariffs hurt Canada? Yeah, for a while. Will it hurt America? Also for a while, but also more long-term than I think most MAGA people realize. Canadian consumers are finding alternatives that, frankly, we didn't even know existed, and they're better and cheaper. And so we're switching. We're not going back to the American products. America fucked around. It's about to enter the find-out phase. It's not gonna like it.
