Tod postpones the Just One Town launch because the Minnesota and Northern Canada towns selected have under-resourced nonprofits, broken websites, and no working donation systems. Flooding them with volunteers now would overwhelm local partners, so the team is building sustainable infrastructure first. Help your own community's food banks and shelters instead.

Hello friends, it's Tod. I have an update on the Just One Town project. We are going to be pushing the launch date back a bit. As it got closer, it became clear that I had underestimated something really important. The towns with the deepest need often have the thinnest capacity to receive help. Their nonprofits are under-resourced, their websites are broken, or the donation links on them don't work. We did choose two communities, one in Minnesota, one in Northern Canada. But it became clear that sending hundreds or thousands of well-meaning people to broken links or overwhelmed volunteers would do more harm than good. What we want for this is generosity and not pressure. So over the next few months, my team and I are going to be working on a way to make sure that this all still works and that the people on the ground get the help they need without stressing them out. All that said, if you are feeling motivated to help right now, you do not need to wait for me. You can support a local food bank or shelter or school or clinic in a community that matters to you on either side of the border. Doing, doing this right matters more to me than doing it fast. So thanks for your understanding. I will report back in when things are ready.
