In this video, Tod Maffin provides a comprehensive update for the upcoming Nanaimo Infusion weekend event, occurring in four days. He outlines the key logistics: a family photo on Saturday at 10 AM in Maffeo Sutton Park, encouraging attendees to wear lanyards (not required for entry but useful for identification and possible discounts). He lists the event attractions—a food‑truck festival, a local market, a circus, and other activities—while directing viewers to tourism.nanaimo.ca for detailed information. Tod shares additional visitor resources, including curated playlists of Canadian music from the ’70s‑’90s, a travel guide video by Jocelyn, and a tourism phone number for assistance. He explains the event’s origin from a TikTok video, noting that over 2,000 people expressed interest, with even a fraction of that number expected to boost the local economy, especially through American tourists. He emphasizes the town’s resource‑based economy (farming, fishing, forestry, mining) and the importance of tourism amid tariff changes. The message concludes with an invitation to locals and visitors alike, reiterating the photo session details and expressing excitement to meet attendees.

If you are coming up to the Mid-Island Nanaimo for Tod's Nanaimo Infusion, which is happening this coming weekend in just 4 days, this is the video for you. I just sent out an email update. If it went to your spam, you're not on our email list, don't worry, I got you. Okay, probably the most important part of this email is this: Saturday, 10 in the morning is a family photo. It's at Maffeo Sutton Park. Also, make sure you're wearing your lanyards. They are not required for admission for anything, they're just a way for everyone to identify that you are here for the Nanaimo Infusion, and I understand some restaurants and stores are even giving discounts to people. Here is the events list. Pause if you want to. There's a food truck festival, a local market, there's a circus, there's all sorts of things happening. And then these links, which are on tourism.nanaimo.ca, have got all sorts of stuff. If you are a local or a mainlander, absolutely you are welcome. Please also wear a lanyard. I made playlists for you if you're driving or flying up. This is best of Canada's music from the '70s, '80s, and '90s. Some Mid-Island musicians as well. Some guy wrote this thing about Gabriel Island. Pause. It's Freaking hilarious. Um, if you get stuck, there's a phone number there for tourism in Nanaimo. Jocelyn did a bonus video about, uh, getting around downtown and all sorts of stuff. This whole thing started 2 months ago as a stupid little TikTok video that I made because I was bored waiting for an Xbox game to install, and hundreds and hundreds of people said that they were interested— Americans interested in coming up and supporting our economy. And I cannot tell you how much that means to us here. We are a resource town. We are farming and fishing and forestry mostly. Our roots were in mining. And so with all this tariff stuff going down, you know, it means the world to us that tourists, and American tourists in particular, are coming up. So, how many of you are coming? I have no idea. 2,000 people registered and said that they would be interested in coming. I don't think 2,000 are coming, but Even if a tenth of those people, 200, show up, that will make a big difference in the economy. So thank you. It's this Friday. Please come. Locals are welcome. And Saturday at 10 AM is the big photo. And by the way, people are already here. I've already— I've now heard of two different groups that have already— that are already in town from the US. So I cannot wait to meet you all Saturday at 10 in the morning at Maffeo Sutton Park for the family photo. I can't wait. Okay, thanks.
