Christmas tree 2021

Tod Maffin and the narrator tour their 2021 Christmas tree, showing ornaments collected over years: handmade origami stars, a paraplegic Nutcracker, knitted gifts from Amy, and a child's photo. They debate whether a ship ornament is the Enterprise or a Galaxy-class vessel and describe animated light strings with rainbow and fireworks patterns.

Here is a holiday tour of the Maffin family Christmas tree and all of the June Mack Maffin artwork contained therein. Start with the oldest piece. I have no idea what year this card came to us, but it was from the Hans era, so, you know, it's been around a while. Beautiful green paper with red on the other side, kind of a rosette. Um, let's see, what else have we got? Um, there's more over here somewhere. We've got lots of like little creatures. Oh, here's one. This is from a craft market, I think. There's the tea clown dude. Elf, Elf, the T-Elf, and his little buddy, the J-Elf, over here somewhere. Oh, J-Elf has his head in the corner. There he is right there.
And, um, and this Xbox One that it doesn't come from, but no, we're, we're touring the June art.
I know, but not from June, but yeah. This is for June. All right, I don't know if you can see the tags there.
There's one, there's one over here.
Dot art tags. And I can't—
here, give me phone.
I just barely see it. Um, I think there's another one somewhere else. Okay, now we'll, we'll look at the friend art. Um, this is from our lawnmower, but but it was a nice card and I liked it. Um, this is a Christmas ornament that my mom had a couple of from when they went to Amsterdam, and so I just found some, so it's up.
And, um, Star Trek, Star Trek, Star Trek, Star Trek.
A Star Trek space shuttle. My brother gave me. It's a theme. He— this is a tache.
Please, it's not a space shuttle, it's the Enterprise.
No, it's the shuttle.
Okay, well, it's an Enterprise.
Enterprise.
It's an Enterprise class ship.
It's a Galaxy class ship.
Holy shit.
Um, and you don't want to have a Star Trek argument with me.
Um, is that actually true? Is it really a Galaxy?
Holy Galaxy Class Starship. Oh, this one's super cute. It's from my aunt Allie, and I really liked that card. And an owl with a hat— who does not want an owl with a hat? This one was from Amy. It is some knitting, of course, because Amy's my knitting friend. Um, this is a little picture of me as a child that was on my mom's tree. Tree, I'm pretty sure. Um, uh, there's a paraplegic Nutcracker. Well, amputee Nutcracker. What am I showing her?
Um, I don't know. Oh, you're, you're a star.
Oh, I made this star because we didn't have anything for the top of the tree. It's just an origami star with glitter paper. And it has a chopstick that holds it up. And we managed to get it— Tod got it way up there on the tree, and it looks great.
It looks good because it's right by the light. Okay, back up, I'm gonna show the light.
Okay, hang on. I'm gonna— and this one is from my niece Emily from when she was just a little girl. I like that you can kind of see her writing on it, which is cute. Um, so we gotta put that back. Carefully so we don't break it.
Okay, I'm good.
I'm trying, I'm trying. Sorry, dude.
Okay, ready?
Yes.
Okay, so that's one.
Oh, I love the rainbow.
It's the rainbow one. Um, what else is a good one? This one, I'm fond of this one. Yeah, uh, I also like, uh, this one's, this one's kind of cool.
I'm not sure I love the green, but I like the waveform.
Yeah, um, uh, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. This one is sort of loops around. But the really cool one, this that they came out with this year, is this one that moves and adjusts. Is it not going?
It doesn't seem like it is. Did you stop it? No.
Oh, there it goes, there it goes.
You can see the wave of pink.
It's very cool. And then it goes to like orange and then it comes back blue again.
It's nice. It's a little less disorienting.
Yeah, uh, and this is like a pastel light tree. It's kind of cute.
Well, rainbows, they're always the best. Uh, oh, so bright.
And then, yeah, and then there's just crazy ones like this one's like crazy.
Oh God, no, what?
That one's nice.
Ooh.
I like being able to control all— and then this kind of weird one.
I like this slow sparkle.
Yeah, this, uh, this one is supposed to be like a scanner.
It does look like a scanner.
And then this one is fireworks. Hang on, ready? Uh, let me find fireworks. Uh, oh, you can look at this one while I'm waiting. This one's cool. Whoa, fancy. And then it merges in the middle. Okay, fireworks, firework. Oh, you hear fireworks? It's gonna start at the bottom. Fireworks start at the bottom, get to the top, boom! And then sparkles like that.
And then the diagonal candy cane lines. That looks like— it looks really cool from back here. Is it the candy cane lines?
You know, there's like an American one in here somewhere too, which is And now you just leave the twinkly ones on. Yeah.
Um, I forgot to say, this is also from our friend Jen, from her Christmas card. We like a little four-letter word in our, uh, Christmas. There's a one— a card from Amy, and another card from Amy. Um, I think those are the only Amy— this one's some friends of ours. There's an otter from Coombs. Um, just lots of fun stuff. It's an eclectic tree this year. Uh, yeah, that's it. Merry Christmas!
