Hey Cafe is all-Canadian, and everything that social media should be

Hey.Cafe is a Canadian social media platform with no ads, funded by optional $35 yearly memberships. It runs on Canadian servers, uses volunteer moderators, and organizes users into interest-based groups called Cafés. You can join for free and find communities around topics like LGBTQ or Fallout.

Today I am teaching you how to use one of my favorite Canadian social media platforms, Hey.Cafe. Now, just like Facebook, there's a feed of stuff from people that you follow. Unlike Facebook, it doesn't jam crap in there like AI slop or suggested posts or angry rants from your uncle even though you unfollowed his nonsense years ago. Now, here is how you're going to remove the ads. Oh yeah, you don't have to because Hey.Cafe does not have ads. It's funded by donations from individual users. A year's membership is just $35, but you can also use it completely free if you want to. It has an iPhone app. There'll be an Android app too, but remember, you can use this on any phone or computer by going to your web browser and going to hey.cafe. On the top left and the top right, there are two little buttons that open panels. The left button opens a pretty simple menu to help you get around. The right button opens a list of friends you have online and groups that you've joined. They call these cafes. I usually hang out in the LGBTQ cafe, the cafe for Fallout fans, and there's even one for people who like my content. And both of those people are in there. Now we should talk about how to remove your content from the US servers. Oh yeah, you don't have to because none of your data is stored in the US. Don't worry, Americans, you can join too, unless your state has decided that you can't be trusted with the internet. Hey Cafe is made by one guy in BC. Its moderators are real human beings, they're volunteers. The community is welcoming, the whole place is surprisingly chill. It's basically Facebook if Facebook were Canadian and not run by sociopathic billionaire sick fans. It's at hey.cafe. Now, your feed will be empty when you join, so open up the Cafés panel on the right and click Find Cafés, start typing the name of a topic you're interested in, and join it. And if Twitter was more your jam than Facebook, I also recommend the Aaay app and website, and let me know if you want me to do a video about how to use that one. You can find me on both of those platforms.
