Hello, hello, hello people. Welcome. If you are watching this video and you are a fan of Mirror Falls, first of all, thank you for listening. Secondly, if you care about watching the plot or listening to the plot and have it evolve organically and naturally, do not watch this video. Press pause now, close your browser, close the tab. Because this has major, major spoilers in it. I will tell you a little bit about what the spoiler involves so you can make a decision. Essentially, there is, as you probably know from the promotion, it says, "Decent people, complicated pasts, and a secret hiding in plain sight." It is the secret that I'm going to be talking about today. So if you're not interested in having that spoiled for you, stop watching right now. Just stop. Just stop. OK. I'm going to assume if you're here, you're OK with that. So here is the plot spoiler. Mirror Falls is being watched by the military. For a reason that is not necessarily bad. And I'm not going to spoil that reason. But at the end of this episode, the next episode on Sunday, we get into a little bit of that. And I'm going to read you what I've written so far in this. And what I'm looking— what your advice, what I'm looking for from you folks And please let me know in the comments, is how do you feel about this turn, is basically what I'm asking. Part of the reason that people say they like Mirror Falls is because it's an escape from everything going on, which it is. But the plot's going to take a turn. Not dark, but surprising. And— that's OK, Jay Disney. And I'm just worried that people will not— I'm worried that people will stop listening because of that. Anyway, I'm going to read you— I'm going to read this to you as it's written right now. It may change. This happens at the very, very end of the next episode. I'm going to begin reading it. Once again, this is your moment to leave this video if you do not want to hear details on this twist. This, this will be revealed on Sunday, but okay. Here we go with the major spoiler. This comes at the very end of the episode. That evening, Master Corporal RJ Nails returned from town. She was exhausted. The forest walk had taken longer than planned, and whatever confidence she'd carried into this posting had thinned with every step. She'd been on mission for 2 years, and But this wasn't the assignment she'd imagined when she asked for the transfer. It was wearing on her. The whole thing. The only reason she joined Project 573 was she thought it'd be an easy sailing to retirement, maybe get a cottage back home in the Muskokas. She entered the base briefing room, sat down in front of one of the computers, and began to type. 1548: Residents of 573 Foxtrot observed discussing coordinated commerce with neighboring town. In the plot, the Mirror Falls and Ashford Bay team up on, on a farmer's market. Deviation from baseline monitoring ongoing. Nails clicked the button marked file observation report, closed the laptop, and sighed. She knew what a breach would mean, how it would all play out— the card, the phone number, how the protocol would be declared, how the minister would be woken up. But she couldn't shake it. The town. The signs. The easy trust. The way people spoke freely because they were alone. Or at least believed they were. It just wasn't right. And that night, deep in the forest, past the alert sirens set up on the base, past the domain of the Tzunahqua, a new timer started running. That is the end of the episode. Earlier on, there's a thing with the farmers market. That's what it's about. So we learn— again, if you just stumbled into this, this is a big huge spoiler— we learn that the base is being monitored by the military. You have not found out why yet, and you will discover that in season 2. It's not really bad. It's not evil. But I am aware that this takes a turn. And I would like to hear from you in the comments how you feel about that turn. Whether you feel this ruins Mirror Falls, or whether you are more excited to hear about this story. I promise you that nobody dies. There's no major, you know, that kind of thing. Yeah, I would like to know what you think of that. Jocelyn, my wife, doesn't want the story to go where it's going to go, I think, but it's got to go there. This is the story of this town. So anyway, that is the information. I will come back and take a look at this. I'm getting some of your comments now. OK, Donna, "More excitement than fear." Good. Do you all feel that way? Please help me. Please help me in the comments, whether you're live or whether you're watching this on replay. Did what you just hear make you more interested in what's going on with the town? Or does it make you go, "Oh, god, this is too close to the real world. I want out." "When does season 2 get aired?" I don't know for sure. It'll be a few months. So, I have to write it. I've written episode 1 of season 2, but it'll be probably this summer. Probably this summer. So, and I should mention that after this weekend's episode, which will have the part at the end that you just heard, There is one more episode. So this coming Sunday will be a regular episode about a farmers market with this thing tagged on to the end. And then the following week will be the big setup, will be the big reveal. "I'm intrigued to find out where it goes, but without you having told us it doesn't take a dark turn, I would have thought it was going to take a dark turn." I know. That's what I'm struggling with. Right? Like, I mean, I don't want— I don't want people to tune out. I don't want people to like go, "This is gonna go bad and I don't want to watch or listen to it." But if you've been like listening carefully, some of these things will begin to piece together for you. You know, like I've mentioned a couple of times, security cameras in the town do not shut off even when there's a power failure. Why is there a power failure? Why does Maureen always get the grants that she applies for? Why is Mary George so invested in keeping people out of the forest? You know, so like, I've hoped— like, why was the security code for the Gassing God 573? Why didn't they find Father Marcel's body? Like, I'm hoping that there's enough in it that people will listen to the season finale, which is in a week and a half, and want to re-listen to the whole season. All right, let's look at some of the live comments. I like the juxtaposition of the innocence of the "with the secrecy of the base." OK. "Can you give the audience some kind of non-spoiler spoiler that it's not going to take a dark turn? I would have thought it was going to take a dark turn." I know, that's what I would like to do. So what I am going to do is, at the end of the season, that's not this episode but the episode after, where a major fucking thing happens. And it does sound a little dark. I'm going to have, like, a bonus episode. You know how I do those bonus episodes? I am going to have a bonus episode where it's like a Q&A because people have asked questions about, you know, when is the next season, and where the characters come from, and how's the writing process, and stuff like that. And the very first thing I will address in this is, has Mirror Falls taken a dark turn? And then I can explain all of that. "New here regarding this story. Is it a podcast or television?" It's just a podcast. It's a fiction podcast that I'm writing. The fantasy feel is cleansing to the crap that's going on in politics. Okay. Okay. So yeah, I— so maybe— I guess what I'm asking is this: would you, having heard that, having been carried along, knowing that there's probably— like, I assume that all of you without me telling you have discovered or have kind of pieced together that there's something going on with this town. Maybe you haven't. I don't know. Maybe I didn't make that as abrupt as it should have been, but I'm hoping that you'll have recognized there are little hints in here. And I'm hoping that you will hear what I just read to you and think to yourself, "I need to know where this goes," instead of, "Oh dear, this is going dark. I'm going to stop listening." That's what I'm hoping for. That script, by the way, will change. I have a couple of people who work currently in the Air Force. The military is Air Force, by the way. If you want to know a bit more of a spoiler, you heard in that script that I read that the whole thing is called Project 573. You could Google what Project 572 was. That was a real thing. That'll give you some hint of where this is going. So that's what I'm struggling with. And so, sorry, what I was saying is that I've got a couple of people who have worked in the Air Force in surveillance and espionage and scrutiny or whatever, you know, that sort of stuff. Subterfuge. And I'm running the— I've run the script by them so that, you know, like, I'm sure I've written some things wrong. You know, like, like the sentence, "She'd been on mission for 2 years." I like— I don't think that's the way the military people would would say it. So dark turns to light, so I think just go with it. Don't make us cry sad tears. I won't, I won't. I will, I promise you, I will not make you cry sad tears without the reason for it being hopeful. Some of you may have cried earlier at a couple of episodes, but I'm hoping you did out of joy and that, you know, like when the town surprised the mayor with his own scavenger hunt. People said they cried, and I'm grateful because I'm hoping that. I figured it may be a bit— something a bit dark is coming. Okay. I'm here for the long haul. I'm mentally invested in how the spoiler is going to change the town. Okay. Okay, so I'm hearing from you that this would not scare you off of listening. Is that right? I just got here. I didn't hear the spoilers. I want to say I'm all in. I'm gonna read it again. I'll read it again. Because some of you have joined. Again, here's the disclaimer. If you do not want to know where— a bit of where this story is going, do not watch this video. All right. So here is what is going to be tacked on at the end of the upcoming episode, which is the penultimate episode. There will be one after this. That evening, Master Corporal R.J. Nails returned from town. She was exhausted. The forest walk had taken longer than planned, and whatever confidence she'd carried into this posting had thinned with every step. She'd been on mission for 2 years, but this wasn't the assignment she'd imagined when she asked for the transfer. It was wearing on her, the whole thing. The only reason she joined Project 573 was she thought it'd be easy sailing to retirement, maybe get a cottage back home in the Muskokas. She entered the base briefing room, sat down in front of one of the computers, and began to type. 1548. Residents of 573 Foxtrot observed discussing coordinated commerce with neighboring town. Deviation from baseline. Monitoring ongoing. By the way, if you want another spoiler, go search for Project 573 on Blue Sky. Nellis clicked the button marked File Observation Report, closed the laptop inside. She knew what a breach would mean, how it would all play out. The card, the phone number, how the protocol would be declared. How the minister would be woken up. But she couldn't shake it. The town, the signs, the easy trust, the way people spoke freely because they were alone, or at least believed they were. It just wasn't right. And that night, deep in the forest, past the alert sirens set up on the base, past the domain of the Tsunakwa, a new timer started running. So that is how the next episode will close, once I get the military wording right. And then the fall— oh, a poll is a great idea. And then the following week, you will hear what happens. Now, how do I— the question is, I'll start a poll. Isn't that smart? Would this plot— okay, bye. I love the people that are checking in. They're like, "I don't want spoilers. I'm out." Would this plot spoiler that I read How does this plot that I read— how will this plot that I read affect you? Good. Yeah. Leave if you don't want to be here with the spoilers. Or do you mean you would stop listening? Affect you listening to the podcast? "I would still listen." "I'm intrigued." "I'd nope out. Too dark." All right. The poll is up. I don't know, by the way, if you folks are watching on the replay, I don't know whether the poll will show up for replay people. This is This is just for live people, I think. So yeah. And next episode, by the way, is— next episode— so this episode is you hear a bit about Jocelyn, who runs the coffee store. You'll hear about the dark side of the moon. And you'll hear— and then the following episode, you'll hear Mohit. Mohit's story from the Gassing God. So every episode I'm going to try and tell the backstory of, of that. But yeah, that's, uh, that's one of those things. I'm enjoying this podcast. I have family history North Vancouver Island, Kwatsino. Oh good, I'm glad. Okay, so if you're able to do that poll— I only have one vote right now, or maybe that's everyone has voted. I would still listen. I don't know, it just says 100%. I don't think it's— oh, 14, 15 votes. Okay. Oh, okay, so you're all gonna listen. Okay. Alright, this is good. This makes— thank you. That is very helpful. Okay, I'm gonna end this video. Thank you so much for helping me with this. Deployed. Excellent. Thank you. I will use that. Yeah, I've got a couple of people reviewing the wording, which is gonna be helpful. Alright, thank you for watching. Thank you for participating. Thank you for listening as well. I really appreciate it. And yeah, stay tuned.
