Tod Maffin warns that scammers are impersonating him to ask followers for gift cards and cryptocurrency. Over 100 people have reported these scams. He will never contact you via direct message or ask you to move conversations to Telegram, WhatsApp, or Signal.
With the good news comes the bad news. My social media accounts have gotten big, and this weekend, especially with the Nanaimo infusion, they are rolling. And that means that there are scammers. I will never ask you to talk in Telegram or WhatsApp or Signal or anything like that. I will never ask you to send— I will never ask you to send me gift cards. I will never ask you to do crypto. Anyone you're talking to, if it doesn't come from the account Tod Maffin, No numbers, no extra letters. If it doesn't come from that, it's not me. I've heard from more than 100 people that this is happening. So this is a thing, by the way, with, with all platforms. But so yeah, I will never DM you out of the blue. I will never ask you for gift cards. I will never ask you for money. I will never ask you to go to WhatsApp or Telegram. I don't even have them. Um, I will never ask you about crypto. I won't ask you about PayPal, none of that stuff. I might ask you about your cat if you've got a cute cat. Fair warning.
