Hello, Sean. Hello, people. Wow, you're fast. Good evening, Christine. Hello, welcome, welcome, welcome. I'm just putting socks on. It's gotten cold in here. Very exciting, you know. Hello, welcome everyone. Welcome, welcome. Does this work? Does viewer count? Oh, it does work. I think it does. Eh, it doesn't really say much about what's going on though. Anyway, welcome everyone. Hello, thank you for coming in. I see TikTok people here, I see Facebook people here, I see a whole bunch of YouTube people here. Excellent. Where's my lovely wife? She is in Vancouver. She is at a work— at a work event in Vancouver. And that is why you have me, because I'm bored. Bored and lonely. Um, oh, Port Alberni, very close to me, but welcome. Can we start a petition for you to become ambassador to the US? I mean, like, it— as much as I tweeted that I wanted to be ambassador to the US, I would be a terrible ambassador. I would not be able to keep my mouth shut. It would be— I would be pulled from the office in a day. I, I'd go to Washington, I'd tell someone to fuck themselves, and the Prime Minister would be like, you know what, you just come back. It would not work out well. -7 in Iowa, mild wind chill of -35. How's the weather in Nanaimo? This is the thing that people don't understand about Canada. All right, we're gonna do this right now. We're gonna go outside right now, and I'm gonna point out that I'm in short sleeve shirt. Right now. Okay, I'm gonna go outside right now. There's a guy there. Like, look, do you see— do you even see any breath? Do you see breath from me? Hang on, let me put the camera— do you even see breath? Like, I'm trying. Hello? Like, it's not cold. It's not cold at all. It's— I'm in a short sleeve shirt. Where you can't see breath. It's like 10 degrees Celsius. Like, I get that there's this mythology that Canada is cold, and some parts really are cold, but we're on Vancouver Island and it's beautiful here. So don't let them tell you lies. Wait, let me plug this back in again. Las Vegas, oh, we used to like Las Vegas a lot. We still like Las Vegas, but we can't go down right now while shit's going down. Google Speaker tells us it's 8 degrees there. There you go, yeah. How many healthcare professionals have you recruited to date? I don't know for sure. Like, we don't— Jocelyn and I don't ask them to report to us when they accept a job because these people are leaving authoritarian regime already, and we don't want them to feel like they're being tracked. So we don't know for sure, but I will tell you that it feels like, as far as we've been able to tell, it's about 30. It's about 30 healthcare professionals. Which is great. A drop in the bucket compared to what the province is doing. The province has got like $1,400 in or something like that. But still important. Communities are really important still. Sorry, I have teeth things in. That's why I sound a little weird. Danielle's in Nanaimo. Hey, there you go. See, Danielle can vouch for the weather. It's warm. I mean, I wouldn't call it warm, but like, it's mid-December in Canada and I could stand out there in short sleeves for like an hour and be fine. So I don't know, are veterinarians included in the search for healthcare workers? So it depends on what you mean by the search for healthcare workers. Does Canada need veterinarians? Oh my God, yes. And we need plumbers and we need contractors and we need stage managers. Like, we need any skilled profession, not because we're losing a ton of them, but just because that's the demographics. Um, our healthcare infusion in Nanaimo and Vancouver Island is focused on professionals in the public health system. Veterinarians are outside of the public health system because they're not for the people public. But do we need them? Yes, yes, we absolutely do. Hey, Nova Scotia, hello! You folks haven't— have one. Edmonton, hello, welcome! Just watch people playing golf from my hotel in Victoria this morning. Exactly. Exactly. Trying to figure out if my great-grandfather was born in Canada. I'm making an entry. I hope, I hope that works. Vancouver Island is the place to be. Absolutely. It's the warmest in Canada. I shouldn't say the warmest all year round. It's the warmest in the wintertime, which is when you want it to be warm, and it's temperate in the summer. It's lovely and temperate in the summer. The VA just laid off almost 4,000 healthcare workers. Oh, hey Sue, how are you? Sue, I recognize Sue. Sue is a member of my YouTube channel. That's crazy. 4,000 healthcare workers is ridiculous, and the VA of all things. Like, like, fucking honor your commitment to your veterans. If you make a promise like we will put you in harm's way, but if you survive, we'll take care of you. Fucking honor that promise. If it's the last thing you do, honor that promise. It's— oh my God. I just— and Republicans, I thought Republicans— like, I don't know a lot about American politics, but from what I understand, Republicans, aren't they like the pro-military, pro-veteran party? Like, what is What is going on? Your younger brother lives in Chemainus. I hope I will not— I— oh, hey Sean, I recognize your name as well. Um, Chemainus is a lovely town, great theater town, by the way. Please tell Jocelyn I am— how jealous I am of her hand bike. I want some one so bad. Yeah, so she's getting a, um, um I forget the name of it. A newer model. There's a kind, um, and we have been saving up for it for 2 years. We have a special bank account in like our joint bank account, um, that is for the hand cycle. A Bowman? Bowride? Bowhead? Bowhead, I think it's called. If you're in the hand cycle world, you might know what I'm talking about here. Um, and we've been saving for 2 years because that bicycle is $30,000. It's $30,000 for her mountain bike because it's a hand cycle. Because Jocelyn, if you don't know, Jocelyn's paraplegic, so she can't use her legs to pedal, so she has to use a hand cycle, pedal with her hands, and those are expensive as hell. Yeah, 30 grand. So we've been saving up for 2 years. We're at— we're like halfway, more than halfway there. But it's a lot, it's a lot of money. Excuse me while I get some smells. I love the smells. Jocelyn doesn't like the smells as much as I do, so I only— ah, it's so nice. I am breaking up, I'm sorry about that. Delta, hello Delta! When you say Delta, do you mean North Delta, or do you mean Towasson, or do you mean Ladner? I grew up in Ladner. Silly Hillies here! Yo, we have royalty in the channel! Silly Hillies is here. The Sims 4, man, why don't they come up with The Sims 5? I'm like, I get that they keep adding expansion packs and stuff packs and things, but like, just give us a new, a new thing. Did you see there's like a new game that's similar? Bowhead, yes. I would build my own before paying that craziness. Apparently they're really good bikes and she loves mountain biking, you know. So, so we have been— she hasn't been spending money on yarn, I haven't been spending money on video games. We have been saving for 2 years so she can get a Bowhead. Uh, Milo, you haven't missed anything. I just started. Grasshopper. It's not an— well, it is an e-bike actually, but it's hand— it's a hand cycle. Jocelyn's paraplegic, so she can't use her legs for pedaling a bike, so she pedals with her hands. And there's just not that many companies that provide that, so they're expensive. Do you hang with Jon Stewart by any chance? No, I've never met Jon Stewart. I would love to, but I've never met Jon Stewart. I'm not purchasing anything from EA. Everything I've got for— yo, what cheat code do you have where you're getting— but you're not getting new expansion packs, are you, for free? Don't know if you thought I'm gonna be a new Canadian. I have a ceremony this Thursday. Oh, that's so good. Welcome home. Welcome home. It is also an electric bike. It is also an electric bike. Um, Sims 4. Yeah, Sims 4 is a free download, but all the cool shit is, is, is paid, right? Like, you know, if you want the— I don't know what it is— the laundry pack, you got to pay for it and all that jazz. But yeah, you're right. I mean, the basics are free now. How do I get some nurses to relocate to Castlegar, BC? You You start a healthcare infusion. Go to healthcareinfusion.org. Healthcareinfusion.org. And you click at the very bottom, there's a thing for Canadians. You click that. And I have not seen anyone from the Castlegar or Trail area, so claim it. Start one. Start one yourself. That's how. Did EA sell to the prince? I don't know, I'm not— maybe Sims 3 plus expansion packs plus mods way better. I don't know, I like— I, I do like The Sims 4. Yeah, no, Rika, you're right, disability doesn't cover these bikes at all. We're— we are paying, you know, and, and rightly so, you know, normal people, ABs, don't have their Mountain bikes paid for us, so we wouldn't, we wouldn't try to get it written off or anything like that. Do you play BG3? I don't play BG3. I play Overwatch. I'm a support. I'm a support in all, uh, in all games that I play, Crystal. Uh, I'm a support character. Uh, I play Overwatch. I'm mostly old school heals. I have 2,000 hours on Mercy. I play Zen, Bap, Moira. Uh, Lucio. I play a lot of Lucio. I also play Siege, and I could use— I could use a squad, frankly, on Xbox. I think BC is fast-tracking people under the provincial nominee program. They are. I mean, the PNP program is a federal program that provinces all have access to. Um, they have a small— you know, they have a certain amount of people they are able to nominate, but yeah. It's great. My husband's a critical care nurse working in Nunavut. The staff come from all over the world. I'm sure they— oh my gosh, I would love to get more people into Nunavut for sure. Have you considered a GoFundMe to help with the bike? I'm sure the community would like to help. I wouldn't want to do that. It's not a— you know, we are not a charity. You know, it would be lovely that people want to help, but I would rather they put their money toward people who— this is a bike, this is recreation, it's not a need. There's so many needs out there. So we'll pay for it ourselves, but thank you. Have you ever played Brain It On? No. When is Canada going to annex New York State? Soon, I hope, man. It would be cool. My brother is a paraplegic. He was a professional athlete, so he has lots of money and can afford the latest. He had a bike These straps to his legs to exercise his legs. Uh, yeah, yeah, there are some cool things for sure. Have you played RimWorld? I have not. I'm on Xbox though. Yo, yo, if anyone's on Xbox and you play Overwatch or Siege or even Fortnite, hook me up. My gamertag is LowEffortDad, okay, on Xbox. I'm gonna put that on the screen. My Xbox is low. Forget this, forget this. We're not looking at the merch store thing. There are more important things to deal with than the merch store. Come on, how do I edit this? Edit, edit. No, hang on, bear with me. How the fuck do I edit this? Okay, I don't care, I'm gonna create a new one then. If I can't figure out how to edit it. Text. Yeah, add me. You know, it's— thank you, thank you, Neela HG. I like it too. Um, I was gonna be— before all this Canada stuff started, I was gonna be a Twitch streamer. That's what I was gonna do. I put this here and I still don't know how to edit this. Transform. Um, and that's how— that's what I thought my retirement was going to be, was that I was going to do— I was going to be a Twitch streamer. And I may yet. I may yet, bro. How do I get to edit? Oh, properties. Oh, there it is, there it is. Okay, add me on— uh-oh— add me on X. Box. Low effort dad. There we go. There we go. This is what I built my platform for. There we go. Add me. Sorry about the bike questions. Last question: do you guys use a hitch rack or dismantle for inside your van? Uh, we put— we— so we, we have not— we don't have the Bowhead yet, but her, her current hand cycle, we just throw it right in. We got an SUV specifically to handle the size of her bike, so we put the whole bike in. We have to take all the seats out, of course. Um, but yeah. Do you like the handle? I like the handle too. Low effort, Dad. In fact, I'm so low effort, I don't even have kids. I'm not even a dad. That's how low effort I am. Hello, Gabriola. Do you know about Varna Handcycles on Gabriola? No. Makes custom adaptive handcycles. Thank you for telling me, Doris. I'm going to screenshot this and send it to Jocelyn right away. I did not know about that. We need doctors in Kitchener. How can I help? You go to healthcareinfusion.org. Healthcareinfusion.org. And, and Cheryl, and how are you? And it's a long time. I was gonna say old person. Long time friend. Fellow old person now. I don't have a PS4 or PS5, Ryan. I don't have one. I'd love to have one because I want to play, like, um, The Last of Us. But yeah, love Fallout 2. Thank you, Juliana. WKRP for the win, right? Our bathroom does rock. Yo, I heard from— how do I say this without breaking confidentiality? Someone on the Fallout 76 team reached out to me the next day. It was very cool. They're not giving me anything or anything like that. They're just— they just reached out and they loved it and can I share this with the team? Of course you can share with the team. Which I felt bad about because at the very end I make kind of a joke about Bethesda having lots of bugs in their games. But if you're a gamer, you'll know that this is on brand for Bethesda. Everyone knows that there are bugs when they first release and we look past it because their games are so great. But, uh, yeah, thank you, Carmel. Yeah, my Xbox is on right now, so if any of you people add me, I will see it pop up. I will see it pop up when people add me as a friend, just FYI. Do you want a PS5? I desperately want a PS5. I desperately want one, but You know, we don't spend a lot of money. You know, we like to keep our money for savings for retirement. "Did you play The Sims Castaway?" No, I didn't. Hi, Lucien. "Have you played World of Tanks or World of Warships?" I'm aware of them. I haven't played them. They're the free-to-play games, right? I, you know, I do worry about free-to-play games because I'm not very strong when it comes to my ability to not just buy my way to the top. I'm better now that it's gotten like so offensive, but like in the early days of micro— microtransactions, Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 1 for instance, I straight up bought my way to the— to level cap. Level cap is 313 in Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare. And I just bought my way. I just, I just fucking bought my way to level 313. I level capped with money and I felt really dirty about it. Windsor needs doctors and nurses. I mean, everywhere does. Has anyone contacted you? They don't even need to contact me. They just go to healthcareinfusion.org, register get into the Discord of Infusion hosts and start working on it on their own community site. My role is very minimal in this. It's to get attention to it and, and to help people if they need help, but like they don't have to do anything through me specifically. Just got a PS4, which mounted on the wall because of cats. Fair. Thank you, Ray. It was nice to see you. Thank you. I, I love Chicago. I love Illinois. You want a PS4 but you need to save for the hand bike? Exactly. Thank you, Iris. Yes, we've only been in Nanaimo since 2018. Maybe cheaper to get an engineering firm to make you a one-off bike. Not really, not really. Like, it might be about the same, but going with a particular brand, it's got like a community of people. Yeah. I'm in Atlanta now, but my grandparents and ancestors are all Canadian. Oh, great. I'm too uncoordinated to play the video games. I will sue. I doubt that. Try Kingdom Come: Deliverance, great RPG. I've heard that actually. I should. That's, that's on Xbox, isn't it? I should actually. I do have another YouTube channel. I do have another whole channel, Facebook, YouTube, everything that you see me on. I have like a secret gaming channel. And it's Low Effort Dad. So if you go to like facebook.com/loweffortdad, tiktok.com/loweffortdad, instagram.com/loweffortdad, like all of those, you'll get my, my gaming stuff. But I haven't really done anything in about a year. Like, all of this started in February of this year. So you'll notice, you'll see, like, last December I was like trying to do stuff, and then like February just dropped off. Because of all this Canada stuff. Game Pass, if you have— we do have Game Pass, we do. Okay, good, good to know. I will download it. Please do a piece on North Preston, Nova Scotia. All right, I'll Google it. Uh, what, what is there about— what is it about there that's interesting though? A Brit who got the LPR and then became a US. Holy crap, I wish my parents had immigrated when I was born. Yeah, there are times when I'd play Red Dead Redemption for hours only to play poker. That's a sign of a great game, you know, when it's like you're in the game but you're— but you play. Yo, check this shirt out, by the way. Am I right or am I right? This is so lovely. Someone in the community dropped this off. At our house. That's very cool. I do like Minecraft. I'm a little bored with Minecraft, but I do like Minecraft. Yeah. With the constant news cycle, you are my daily source of sanity. Thank you, Dina. I'm, you know, like, I want people to find some respite from the doom for sure. Are you going to join Gander Social or A or any of those Canadian social media platforms? So, I'm on A already, just Tod Maffin. I don't use it that often, and the reason why is that they don't have a desktop app yet. I do most of my posting on desktop because I'm fucking old. It's just not in my routine, so if they get desktop, you'll see a lot more of me on A. Gander Social. I will— I have some— I'll be honest, I have some concerns about Gander Social. I have not seen Gander Social yet. I haven't seen their interface yet. They might have one out publicly. I assume they do. But the only thing I've seen of them is fundraising. Now maybe it's— maybe I'm just— the algorithm is only sending me that stuff. I don't know why. Maybe they've posted stuff that I'm not aware of. But the only thing I've seen from Gander has been like them raising money and getting money from people. I have I'm, I'm on the waitlist. I've emailed them and asked if I could get in to kick the tires to see what it's like. Um, but I have not seen what it even looks like on the inside. I don't know if it's a Mastodon, uh, server that they've just skinned. Uh, I don't know if it's some other open source thing. I don't know if they've built their own. I've yet to see it. So until, until they start showing it in operation or they start letting people in, um, I'm hesitant to recommend Canadians use it. At least the A social network, which is essentially Twitter, you know, it's like a Twitter, very similar Twitter clone. At least they're up and running and, you know, you can go and get there and so on. Arlene Dickinson involved in Gander? Well, at an investor level, I would imagine. So, yo, whoever Papatitis86 is, you made it to my Xbox. See? You just have to add me on Xbox and I will shout it out. The Xbox is right in front of me, that's why I can see that. Oh, I've got, I've got a hell of a big world in Minecraft for sure. Genders in beta. Yeah, I know, but like, they should be showing some people some stuff by now. Maybe they have, I don't know. Made the mistake of introducing to a friend to Stardew Valley. Cynthia, Jocelyn spends hours every day on Stardew Valley. She plays it while we're sitting here in the living room. And then we have a hot tub. Angel Fish, thank you. I saw it. You're in. See? All you have to do is add me on Xbox. Low Effort Dad. Um, and then she plays it in the tub as well. When is your tour? I have a tour? So you might be one of my subscribers who's been told some things. So if you're a subscriber to my channel on YouTube, if you're like a paying member or an Instagram or TikTok or Facebook subscriber, like, you know, you pay the $7 a month to be a member, you get a behind-the-scenes thing from me every week where I talk about sort of future plans. So I think that's what this person's referring to. They know some shit that the public doesn't know because I've talked about it. It's not a tour yet. It is a one-city potential, but I will say that I am now in touch with a production company. Yeah, that's all I'm gonna say about that. I don't want to get— I don't want to— I don't want to like get ahead of my skis, as we would say here in BC. But is there a potential that we might have a national tour of a show with music and comedy and commentary about Canadian identity? Maybe, maybe in the new year. Video games in the hot tub is paradise. Uh, it's pretty good for sure. I mean, you know, it's just on my phone. I don't— I usually just watch TikTok in the hot tub. I'd be honored to shake your hand when I come visit my father. Yeah, Sean, absolutely, come by all means, come visit. I've been watching the Assembly interviews. I haven't. I don't know what that is. Pepetite is here. That was almost instant. Yeah, it comes— it comes up like instantly. Stardew Valley is fun. It's not my thing, but Jocelyn loves it. She has like 4 different characters going. She just married a blue-haired girl, or I assume the blue-haired girl. You probably know who I'm talking about. Um, so I was very excited because blue-haired girls— what's not to love about blue-haired girls, right? She come back to Yellowknife and bring that hand cycle. True that, true that. And they should get you on This Hour is 22 Minutes. I'm not, I'm not there. I don't think, I don't know, like, I'm not, I'm not funny the way that they are. They're so— this hour is so funny. Like, they're so funny. Um, I can crack a good metaphor once in a while, but like, those people are professional comedians who like are So good at entertaining. I, I am not in their, in their caliber. Would you tour the US, please? No. The short answer is no. And it's not because I don't like the US, but because your president has threatened to annex us by economic force. And so we are boycotting the US right now. So I'm not gonna go to the US during this administration. I'll go digitally, I'll go virtually, but I won't step foot in the US while, while this is happening. I will also say this, and that they probably wouldn't let me in anyway. Like, I know the— this new 5 years of social media history doesn't apply to Canada as a broad, as a blanket thing, but they would absolutely ask me for that if they did a cursory Google search. Like, you just have to do any basic Google search, or Kaggle, which is better than Google. Stop using Google, use Kaggle, it's better. Um, you just have to do that. You just have to like realize that like they would just Google me and they'd be like, yeah, this motherfucker's not getting in. Uh, thank you for standing by that, the US boycott. It's— I feel really strongly about it, you know, like our potato chips. I didn't know that Old Dutch was Canadian. Now I know. Now I know which ones. Like, this is the thing that a lot of the US has not figured out, is that Canadians in the last year have learned which brands are Canadian, which brands are not Canadian, and we are buying the Canadian brands. You know, you are a product of what we produce in Canada, I guess. Oh, Kaggy, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. Here, maybe I'll— maybe I can type it into the chat room. I don't know if this will work. I don't know if that worked or not, but I typed in Kaggy. K-A-G-I. K-A-G-I. I'll try and post it. I'll try and post it in the chat. So it is— I'll warn you, it is a paid search engine. It costs money every month, but you can customize it. And it's not— they don't use any of your data at all. They don't track you at all. They have no idea what you search for. They don't know what you search for. And then you can customize it. So, like, for instance, you know, have you ever had this experience where you're like, you're typing, you're searching for something, searching for something normal— Pepsi Buster! I got you Pepsi Buster on the Xbox, thank you. You know, you're searching for something like, I don't know, whatever, shoes, and like, all the results are, are, um, all the results are like from Pinterest or Instagram and you're like, obviously this is not what I'm looking for. You can just ban Pinterest. You can just say, you know, for now, don't ever show me Pinterest lists, uh, links in the search engine results again, ever. Fox News. If you don't ever want Fox News to come back suggested, you just say no, out, and you will never see it again. And then you can do the opposite too. You can say If Wikipedia would come up normally in a search, put it at the top. You can customize all of it. Kaggle is great. I'm gonna do a video on it at one point. Shady Craig! Shady Craig on Xbox! Yo, I got you. If any of you people play— actually, I should add this to my little description here. Add me on Xbox. I need— why is it so slow? There we go. Oh, sorry, that went off the screen. I did not mean to do that. There we go. Wah! Wah! How did that happen? White Shirt, Mr. White Shirt, what is up? I got you. Glowstick Vixen! There we go. Alright, now I'm just straight up begging. I need an Overwatch or a Siege squad. Sadly, you're right, Keggy is an American company. That is true. That is true. I wish that we had a Canadian alternative for it. Sphinx, Sphinx, I got you, I got you. Um, yeah, you know, I mean, there's some things you can't buy in Canada. Celery, apparently, for some reason, is one of those things. I don't know why, but we just— I have not been able to find Canadian celery. So if there's a Canadian alternative, we buy it. If there's not We go with what we need. Old Dutch is Canadian, Monkey. Calgary, Heartland, New Brunswick, and Winnipeg. The company is based in Alberta. Canada has a population clock. Oh, interesting. Love the Buy Beaver app. Ah, yeah, you know what, uh, so I think it's possible that Old Dutch has like— there might be another brand in the US called Old Dutch. I don't know, maybe. I don't know. Yeah, this time of year it's a little bit harder to find Canadian products for sure, but you can. It's possible. Not everything, but you can. Yeah, we just got like all lettuce and salad kits came out of the blue, right? They all used to be American, and then like 3 months into it, at least here in BC, we started getting tons of them. It was great. Um, Anka, No Man's Sky, good game. I need to get back into it. Every time I go back into it, I'm always— what a story, that game. Hey, that game, which was like super hyped, and then it launched and everyone was like, this is not what we were promised. And then for years they just kept on, and I don't think they've charged for DLC yet, have they? Like, I think it's all been free. They just keep improving it and improving it year after year. Month after month. And I think in the Game Awards 2 days ago, didn't they just win like the best recurring game or ongoing game or something? Like, that's great. Skip cilantro in my recipe because it was US. You can— there is Canadian cilantro. Hopefully the lettuce farm in Abbotsford is in underwater. Oh yeah, man, I think Abbotsford's okay, but yeah, it's— the flooding is pretty bad for sure. Welcome, welcome everyone. Can't grow celery anywhere near Canada. The temperature cold snaps. Because maybe I should do that. Maybe I should try to grow celery. That could be a video. Thank you, Arlette. Welcome. I apologize to those of you on Instagram, I'm not able to see your comments. I have yet to be able to see any Instagram comments. Maybe I can look up here. I can see— I know I'm live on Instagram, but I just Instagram is just so bad. All I see is like the number, the names of people who've joined. So-and-so's joined, so-and-so's joined, so-and-so's joined, so-and-so's joined, and it clutters up and I can't see the actual comments. Like, I hate that. Todd the Gardener, I don't know about that. Okay, uh, if you guys give me like 60 seconds, I will be back, uh, in just a moment. Alright, I'm back. Thank you kindly. Ah, trash at Siege and Overwatch. That's okay, it's easy to be trash at Siege. Siege is kind of a tough game. Have to tie the celery up. Okay, alright. And you know, like, also, I, I don't fault people who, who, like, that's all they can afford. There are a lot of, you know, there's a lot of food that's cheap from the US. It's cheaper to buy American food than it is Canadian food in a lot of places, and a lot of, like, packaged food, especially especially. So I— you will never see me ever bitch about someone who— damn it— the only way they can feed their family is by using American products. That's fine if that's what you can afford for your family. That's what you can afford. Family first, as far as I'm concerned. Fix Freak Stingray, I got you. Welcome. Thank you. Thank you for adding me. Did you hear about the rubber duck museum moving from the US to BC? I did. We put it in our newsletter actually. So I have a newsletter called fromfarandwide.com. I'll put it up on the screen. Um, shop. Hang on. This should actually say Xbox. So we have a newsletter. Can I not just duplicate this? What— how does this— why is this so difficult? Copy and then paste, maybe? I see. Okay, okay, okay. Hang on. Newsletter. So, ah, I'm so bad at this. All right. And now how do I change the color? Apparently I can't change the color. That's fine. So this is my news— whoops. Don't know what happened there. This is my newsletter. And that is what we, um, we, we did a whole, we did a story on it actually on that, uh, on that thing, on that, uh, rubber ducky museum. It was our lead story, in fact. What is PlayStation? Is it PS5 now? PS5 is latest. Yeah, Sue. I'm a social worker in the US. I'm considering applying for Canadian citizenship. I have several policy— do first social workers count as healthcare workers? I mean, there's no— we— there's no— Canada doesn't have like a special category for healthcare workers. It has a category for like, what do we call, what do we call them? Um, like skilled workers essentially. So it's fine. And your second question, I assume about CP, is fine. As long as you can work, it's fine. There's no penalty about you having CP. Also, I will say that the CP people that I know are the funniest fucking people I've ever met in my life. I don't know whether it's gallows humor or whether— like, I don't, I don't know why, but people with CP are the funniest fucking people I have ever met in my life. I don't know why. It's so funny. What's the funniest story you worked on with CBC? Hmm, that's an interesting question. I mean, I made a really big mistake once. I, um, CBC at the time when I worked there used this system called GroupWise. Which was like an email. It was like Outlook kind of thing or Exchange, but it was prehistoric. It was awful. And but one of the things it could do is it could create groups like you could create like a little category for everyone to, to have access to like a folder, a shared folder, and you'd use it for buy and sell or for like people who all want to do yoga together, whatever. But no one ever used them because people at the CBC were pretty, pretty not technically savvy. But I was technically savvy and I created one called BC Buy and Sell, and I basically made it available to everyone who was in the CBC in British Columbia. What I didn't know is that this is that GroupWise, when you create one of these group folders, is it will— it sent an email to everyone who had access, and the email was very not helpful. It, it made it sound like I had access to their email. All it was saying was, Tod Maffin has created a folder called BC Buy and Sell, and you're welcome to participate or not. But the way it was worded, it sounded like, Tod Maffin has gained access to your email account and is putting folders there randomly. So people freaked out. And this happened right away, as soon as I created it, like within— I was on C-level in Vancouver. The Vancouver CBC building, most of the studios are under— less so nowadays, but at the time they were— a lot of the radio studios were underground, C-level and L-level and so on. So like the national shows like The Roundup or Sounds Like Canada, which were produced from Vancouver, or, well, I worked on The Roundup, or Freestyle, which I worked on, all underground. And my studios were also underground. And I sent this thing, and I could hear about 3 minutes later people starting to come downstairs because it's all cement. It's an Arthur Erickson building. So I could hear echoing of people coming down to talk to me. Why are you in my email? What the hell is this that I received? I was so bad. I felt so stupid. And I said, um, look, it's— I'm not in your email. I'm not in your email. I just created a folder that you can access. And IT called me, and bless their souls, and I said, I'm really sorry, I didn't realize that GroupWise would send that to everyone. I will remove the folder. Surface Mist, I got you. Thank you. I see your thing on Xbox. Um, so I said I'll delete it. I'll delete it. I'll delete the shared folder. Well, guess what fucking GroupWise does when you delete a shared folder? It sends an email to everyone who has access. And this email was even worse. This email was like, Tod Maffin is in your email and is removing folders from— like, which of course I wasn't. And poor IT had to deal with dozens of people who were like, why is Tod Maffin in our email? Which I wasn't. And so I went in and the next day I bought them a big— at the time, I don't think you can do it anymore, but at the time at Subway you could buy like a literal 6-foot-long sandwich. You had to order it ahead. I ordered it ahead and I bought them the biggest— this, this 6-foot-long sandwich. And I had 3 friends of mine from radio and we walked across the street and we picked it up and we brought it to IT as a peace offering. Hello, Los Angeles. We are short on teachers. It's true, we're short on all skilled workers. Tod Maffin be hacking. I wasn't though, I wasn't though. We love IT. We do love IT. IT people have to deal with a lot, you know. With this merch store that I set up, luckily I have, I have some help. I have Sarah in Vancouver, I have Steph in you may have seen on my channel. Um, Steph's worked for me for 4 years, um, so I have help. But it's remarkable how, how many people don't know how to operate a basic website. Like, honestly, most of the support, most of the emails that the merch store has gotten has been people who are like, I don't know how to delete this from my cart. And so Sarah has been like Did you click the delete button? And they're like, oh, I didn't know I could do that. So yeah, I'm sure they did appreciate the sub. They did. They were very— they were lovely people. And I felt very bad that I had caused this. To be on there. Ah, I felt bad. Hi, DA Bruiser, I hope you're well. Your wife is well. I had a cancer scare myself. Luckily it wasn't cancer, but Around the time that we were doing the first Nanaimo infusion in April, that whole time I thought I had cancer. That whole time. I, I had— I was showing signs of it. I had an MRI. The MRI found lesions. This was all during the lead-up to the infusion. And I had a biopsy, and the biopsy was— it came back fine, so there was no cancer, but it was right around the same, all of that same time, which was troublesome. Why are t-shirts for a Victoria-based destroyer— why are t-shirts for a Victoria-based destroyer made in the US? "I don't know what you mean by destroyer. I'm sorry." If you mean— maybe that was a typo. If you mean, like, influencer— if you're talking about me, "Why are t-shirts for a Victoria-based influencer made in the US?" Do you mean me? I'm not in Victoria. I'm in Nanaimo, but it's on Vancouver Island, so I get it. I get it. That's a damn good question, and I wish it were— Bearshifter! I got it. I got you. On the Xbox. That's a damn good question, and I was also very disappointed to find out that some shirts were made in the US. When I first created the merch store— do I have the merch store thing up? I don't think I do. When I first created the merch store, I talked to this company— oh, distributor. Yeah, maybe. Thanks, folks. Yeah, probably distributor they mean. Um, and I said, I want to offer— I want to offer things to Americans. I want Americans, you know, like a lot of Americans support Canada. I don't want to just refuse that. So if it's an American placing an order, can you make it and fulfill it and ship it from America? And if you are— if it's a Canadian— yes, that's Ekbox. If you're a Canadian customer, make it in Canada using Canadian label labor, ship it from Canada. And they said, yes, we can do that. And what I learned is that that is true, they can do that. But there's a small portion of orders that when they get busy with their Canadian provider, they outsource it to a partner in the US. So some people, not many, like there have been more than 1,000 orders, significantly more than 1,000 orders. And I think I've heard from about 20, 20 or 30 that have come through the US. But I don't want any of my Canadian customers getting it from the US. And so that's why I shut the merch store down, or will be doing it on Monday. I shut it down because I, because I feel that strongly about it. Believe me, if I was gonna shut a merch store down, I would not choose 2 weeks before Christmas to do it. But that's why. Is it the shirts are made in the US or they're just being shipped from the US? If it's a— if it's a Canadian company, if it's a Canadian customer, if you're in Canada, then it is a Canadian provider in Canada using Canadian labor, shipping from within Canada. But like I say, unbeknownst to us, there was this random occasional 1-2% of the time when they couldn't fulfill it at that moment where they would send it to a US partner, and I did not like that, and neither did a lot of people. Any leads on new merch distributors? Yes, I have several leads. Um, it's, it's gonna be a while before the merch store goes back up. So the merch store is up right now. It's up until— I'm taking it down Monday at 3 my time. I can put it up. I can put it up. Hang on. Where's Xbox? And I can duplicate that. Paste, duplicate. And I'm going to copy this and I'm going to say, whoops. I'm gonna turn off the Xbox and I'm gonna change this. Hey, I know how to make this work now. What the hell? Sorry, folks. I, I I know that took forever. I don't know why this— this is not the best software in the world. Whoops. Anyway, there you go. Oh, that's not what I meant to do. Sorry, I'm bad at this. There we go, that's what I want. I guess I could put both on. Down. All right, sorry. Um, I point to Walmart and Canadian Superstore customers. Canadian choices, Heinz and French's, aren't even Canadian, but Primo is. Barry, you are exactly right. You know, there's a lot of positive sentiment in this country toward toward French's, which is great, but French's is just as American as Heinz is. If you want Canadian, support Primo. I am Randy. I am very tech savvy, but I'm also at the, at the, um, at the mercy of software. And so if the software is slow, the software is slow. I heard the Canadian boycott is starting to hurt a lot of companies now in Washington state. All the border— all the border states are apparently, uh, the Congress in the US just put out a report about it. They're all hurting. Oh, sorry, Trish. Will you be shipping to Australia in the future? Once we— once, once we get the merch store closed in a couple of days. And then reopened at some point in 2026, it will be open to the world. That is my goal. I have a lot of fans in Australia and I love the Australians, man. Jocelyn and I were in Australia just a few months ago. We loved Australia and we loved the people. So yeah, Australia and the rest of the world, big priority. Primo is Canadian medic. Yes, absolutely. Primo is Canadian. 100% Canadian. All right, hang on, we got to get some food. It's time to get some food. Both me and the animals. Do you know how to speak French? Un peu. Un peu. Un peu. Très peu. So like, like every Canadian of a certain generation, we were taught French in school. You know, if I were dropped, if I were parachuted into Quebec City, I could probably make myself understood. I probably wouldn't be able to understand most people, and I might be able to read most things. So, you know, we Anglophones are, um, we know enough to get by. Like, if you need to know where Jacques and Marie are, and they are, uh, they're You are looking for a pencil in the library. We know that. We know that sentence. Finding that part scares the bejesus out of me. Airlines are so nasty with wheelchairs. You're not wrong. You are not wrong. All right, what do I do? How do I do this? 4 and a half minutes. It is true that I eat— Hello, buddy. What's wrong? You want to say hi to the people? Come here. Let's say hi to the people. Yeah. Say hi to the people. Oh, thank you. There you go. That is Otis. Uh, he would like you to know that he's in charge of all of you. Why can't I open this? There we go. Okay, this 4 and a half minutes, I think it said. 4 and a half minutes. I do eat frozen food when Jocelyn is away. I know it's not good, but I do. Otis says hi back. Thank you for everything you do. You've been reinvigorated my Canadian roots. I follow you because your opinions are important, make me proud. I'm glad, I'm glad that it makes you proud. Otis with the brain cells shared by other cats. Yes, absolutely true. Can they help you? Come here, come here. Oh yeah. Oh, oh, there we go. Here, hi. What's with all the love now? Mm-hmm. You're so handsome. How'd you get so handsome? He's only being this way because he knows that it's food time and we adjusted his food time and he's a little upset. Hey, are you mad? Okay, I love you too. Thank you. Okay. You see all the people? Hi! You're drooling all over my face, it's gross. Okay, goodbye. Goodbye. Go talk to the dog. Ugh. Otis is adorable, yes. A low-effort cooking show? Milo, there was a low-effort cooking show actually, when I thought I was gonna be a a Twitch streamer. I actually did one. Um, when Jocelyn is away, I don't, I don't cook for myself. I just microwave things for myself. But when she's here, I cook. We made tacos last night, for instance. So thank you, Aged Caper. French's, Heinz, and Campbell's are made in Canada with companies that make food for lots of companies, but this does not bring jobs back to Canada. I mean, you know, for French's uses Canadian tomatoes. So does Heinz, for that matter. But Primo uses Canadian tomatoes, Canadian employees. The shareholders are Canadian. The money goes back to Canada. Like, you know, a lot of people will say, well, Heinz uses— or French's uses Canadian tomatoes and Canadian workers. Great, I'm all for that, but I'm going to spend my money, which uses both of those, and is also owned by a Canadian. You know, like, if there are multiple choices, let's go for the one which is the most Canadian. Raw supply, employee, and ownership. We can do that. Can we see the dog, please? Yes, you can. Hey, look up here. Look right here. Look up Look right here. There you go. Churro, hey, look up here. No, don't come to me. There you go. Oh, there you go. I'm trying to do it with— there we are. Hi. Hello. You're a pretty girl. That's true. Yes, Otis is absolutely in charge. Otis is absolutely in charge. Oh, I'm sorry, Barry. I have had to make that decision too, and it's no fun. It's always the right decision, but yeah. We don't know, Sue. We don't know what kind of dog she is. She's a rescue. Um, we're pretty sure that she has some Chihuahua in her, and we think that she might have a miniature Schnauzer in her. But she's a very good girl. She's very smart. She is good at fetch. You like fetch, don't you? She's good at fetch. Yeah. Do people name orange cats Otis? Or— Otis came— Otis was a rescue as well, so Otis came with that name. Um, so I don't know, it wasn't that— it wasn't our choice. That was his name when we got him. Otis needs a YouTube channel. Well, Otis would have a YouTube channel if I had time. The issue isn't whether or not Otis would have a YouTube channel. He would be happy to have one, but I would need to hire someone to make his content for him because he's not good at the whole opposable thumbs thing. Sushi is about 12 pounds, something like that. Thank you, Dimco. Thank you very much. Look at you people telling me the microwave is done. Oh my God, stop. All right, hang on, it's not actually done. I have to like move things around. It's a TV dinner, right? So I've got to like move the meat around and then like put it back again. Hang on, let's see. What do I have to do? Stir the potatoes and then another 3 minutes. Okay, I can do that. Okay, I'm not proud of my food choices when Jocelyn is not here, but there it is. There it is. How old are your animals? Um, they're pretty young still. What is the side eye? Can I help you, ma'am? Hey, can I help you? She's giving me side eye. Um, they're, they're both young. They're both 2 or 3. All 130 of us watching Tod microwave food, right? Yeah. Do you do weekly live chats? I, I don't, Barry. So what I do is if you're a member, like if you're a paying subscribing member, It looks like you're on Facebook. So like if you're a subscriber on Facebook, not just a follower, but like a subscriber, which I think Facebook charges like $6 a month or something. Um, once a month I do like a private, not public, um, uh, Zoom meeting basically, uh, where we all hang out together. Um, so it's not public like this, it's just for subscribers. And, uh, we do that. This I do when I'm bored. And when I haven't seen you guys in a while. That's about it. So this live stuff that I'm doing right here is not guaranteed. Sometimes it happens a couple of times a week. Sometimes I go 3 months without doing one. It's just when I feel like it. I speak fluent French. I wish that gave me a leg up in being able to come to Canada. As a disabled person who doesn't work. You can come to Canada as a disabled person, but if you are looking for a path to citizenship, like permanent residency, you not being able to work is, is a, is a problem. Um, like every country in the world, Canada is looking for people who work. And so, you know, there are lots to be, you know, you can be paraplegic, you can be a quadriplegic if you work, it's no problem. There's no, I personally know quadriplegics who have come to Canada from other countries and it's not their disability is not a problem. It's whether or not they can work is the problem. And you have to understand why. It's not that Canada doesn't, or every other country in the world doesn't want people with disabilities. It's that they need the balanced budget. They need the balance sheet to zero out. You know, if you're going to consume resources from the social net, which you would disproportionately as a person with a disability, and I say that as someone married to a paraplegic then the country wants you to be able to contribute to that social safety net. Same with retired people. It's why Canada doesn't have like a gold retirement, uh, visa or anything. If someone were to get a professional certification or license with the goal of moving to Canada for citizenship, which would you recommend other than nursing? I'm almost at my phlebotomy program. Jessica, I Don't know is the short answer. I'm not sure why you said other than nursing because nursing would be a straight in. Nursing is your best option. Phlebotomy is OK, but I will tell you that there are a lot of American— it's like everything, right? I mean, the easier it is to get the certification, the more people will get that certification. And the more of those people will flood countries with that certification because it's easier to get. There are fewer people willing to train as a nurse and get a nurse certification. And so as a result, there are more nurse jobs available. It's just— that's just the way it is. Tell me the best Canadian maple syrup. I will tell you. In fact, I will show it to you. Because there is a brand. My preference. So most maple syrup is not table syrup. Americans call it maple syrup, but it's just table syrup. It's shit. The best brand, as far as I'm concerned, and I'm a little ashamed, I will say this, to admit this, but Western Family. Western Family has some fucking grade A maple syrup, bud. I don't know, I don't know who their provider is, But the maple syrup that Western Family has is fucking good. It's just the right consistency, meaning it can be used on pancakes and French toast if you choose to use it that way, or it's light enough so you can use it in a recipe. And I've tried them all. I have tried them all, as every Canadian has, of course. Have you tried A social media? Hi, Rime. I have. I'm on A. I don't use it that often because I'm more— I do most of my work on desktop and they don't have a desktop interface. I'm not on my phone as much. Yes, thank you. I know the microwave is done. Thank you. Table syrup is maple syrup from Temu. Yeah, table syrup is awful. What the fuck? Who, who came up with that name too? Table syrup? That's so weird. I'm disabled, I could work as long as it's from my home. Background in small business development in rural areas. You'll probably be fine. You'll probably be fine. The only time a disability would just— would, would, would come into effect in this country is if you would be a significant drain financially on the Canadian healthcare system. And there's a dollar value, and it's something like $130,000 over 5 years. If your condition would cost Canada, like the social safety net, more than $100,000— whatever it is, $130,000 over 5 years, then there might be an issue. But very few conditions are like that. Very few conditions are like that. Where's my Xbox thing? I don't know. It's gone. Biff, how do I talk about the episode where you talk about addiction and depression? That's a good question. How do I— what did I call that one? I've only talked about it once, really. Hang on, let me look it up. Let me look it up for you. I have a database of all of the stories that I've done or the content that I've done, so I should be able to find it fairly easily. Maybe not. Courage— is it courage? It's not courage. Sorry, hang on, let me look for this. No, I don't even know how to find it. August 21st, I think that's before then. It is before then. I don't know, I'm sorry, I can't remember what I called that one. It might be, it might be Googleable. We can get addiction and depression in Canada. Yes. Have you ever been a, a guest on Midas Touch Network? Rachel, I have not. No, I have not. My face might be familiar because I used to work at CBC. Um, my voice is weird because I have teeth aligners in, but other than that, I don't know. Any progress in single-player pharmaceutical healthcare and mental healthcare and addiction? Um, Milo, so, so if you're— if you can't afford meds in this country, the country will now pay for it, either the province or there's now a federal Medicare system thanks to the NDP's supply and confidence agreement with the Liberals in the last minority government. So that's coming to more people. It's not perfect, but it's fucking better than the US has, that's for sure. Mental health care and addiction, you know, there's public— there is public addiction, you know, there's public rehabs and so on. They may not be as good as private ones, and private ones are available through a lot of employer plans, but There is help. The problem with addiction isn't necessarily that there's not enough help, it's that the people who need it the most aren't willing to get it, aren't able to see that they can get it, or aren't able to be convinced that they're worth it to get it. Do you think so? I'm a cybersecurity professional with a focus on energy companies. Would Canada accept that valuable professional for an expat? If you can get a job, yes. If you can get a job in that field in Canada, then you'll probably get at some point an invitation to apply for permanent residency. Why did you leave the CBC? A few reasons. I had been doing sort of less and less there. I'd been working more in marketing. I also got really sick. I developed a terrible addiction. To alcohol. I spent months in rehab trying to get better. I did get better, but, um, and then, yeah, and it just, it was just the right time to stop, stop working. I still do stuff with the CBC, just not, it's not as public, not as big. That's mostly why. I see. Bye CBC. Does CBC hire Americans? Uh, maybe. Yeah, like, there's probably— I don't think that there's like an— I don't think there's a policy that says no Americans, but the CBC is pretty focused on Canadian identity and an understanding of Canadian history and culture, and It would be hard for an American to understand those things, I would think. You might, you might be the outlier that could, but it would be— it might, that might be a little tough. Canada should annex the entire West Coast. There's a lot we would have to insist on before we annexed, um, the removal of guns, for instance. That would be hard. You know, like, or like Portland is very progressive, but there's a lot of Portland— there's a lot of Oregon, rather, and a lot of Washington State that would not want us to remove their guns. So it'd be tough. It'd be tough. The NDP is my heroes. Why don't they have more political power? Vote splitting. Vote splitting. That's why. Here on Vancouver Island, which Vancouver Island is a progressive area, okay, we have like, I don't know, 5 ridings, 4 ridings, 6 ridings, like those ridings are electoral districts. But, and, and, and, and Vancouver Island is predominantly left-leaning, right, progressive. But we have so many progressive parties federally. We have The Liberals— we could argue whether or not they're currently progressive. There's an argument to be made about whether they've shifted to the center-right, but I'm just going to say at the last election we had the NDP, we had the Greens, and in my riding, for instance, we had 3 left-leaning parties and 1 conservative party. So if you were left-leaning, left-leaning, you had to pick one of the 3 parties, and all 3 of those parties split the vote. Almost perfectly, almost evenly. And guess what we got? We got a Conservative in this riding. Did the majority vote for Conservative over Progressive? No, the majority voted for Progressive. But because there were 3 Progressive parties and 1 Conservative party— 2 actually, but only 1 that actually mattered— They snuck up the middle. This is why the Green Party needs to stop running candidates. The Green Party needs to merge with the NDP. I hate to say it, but in this riding in particular, the Green Party's presence running a candidate in this riding gave the Conservative Party the win. You could— by math, this is not an opinion, this is mathematical. You can look at the way the numbers came out. Who is your MLA? Who's our MLA? Is Sheila Malcolmson. In my writing, I really enjoyed Charlie Angus. Charlie is good. Charlie's good. I, you know, I've had invitations to appear on political channels and I've turned them down. And it's because I don't want to be a political influencer. There are plenty of those. There are enough voices on both sides of the spectrum. I want to be the person who provides a break from the politics and doom in your feed. So it wouldn't make sense for me to be part of Medios or whatever it's called. Called it, or any of those. That's how Nanaimo ended up with a conservative. Exactly. That is how— is because we split the progressive vote 3 ways. We do not have proportional representation. We have first past the post, and it sucks. The Green Party would stifle the NDP. The Greens are so green, they— yeah, yeah, it would be, it would be a hard merger, but they have— something has to happen. We can't keep running 3, 3 left-wing parties against a single right-wing party because the progressives, which will be the majority of the vote, will lose. And that's not, that's not democratic. Thank you, Medic. Yeah, Guard the Leaf is cool. They've— Guard the Leaf has sent me a lot of followers. All right, I think I'm gonna go. My food is, is ready and cooling, and I'm gonna get offline. I might play some Xbox. I might, um, add some friends and people who have messaged me, which I appreciate it. Um, I'm going to, uh, yeah, I'm going to get offline. If you're not on my newsletter yet, go to join.farandwide.news. And I'm closing my merch store on Monday, so if you are interested in, um, in any merch, it's there until Monday at 3 o'clock Pacific. And then it is closed until I don't know when. Next year sometime. So thank you all again for coming out. It was good to see you all. Um, and the next one I'm sure I'll do with Jocelyn at some point in the next few days. So thanks.
