Moving to Canada

Tod Maffin debunks myths about moving to Canada: no $200,000 bank requirement, disability doesn't bar residency, and healthcare has no copays or out-of-network fees. Teachers, construction, and healthcare workers are in demand, housing is affordable outside major cities, and Canada welcomes Black, trans, and Muslim residents without affecting immigration eligibility.

Hello Americans, I'm Tod, your emotional support Canadian. The video I did last night about how Americans can find safety by moving to Canada went viral, and you had questions, so here are some answers. Does Canada need my job? Teachers, construction workers, office workers, whatever. Don't even bother typing this into the comments because the answer is probably yes. To know for sure, go to my bio link and watch this video. Isn't it cold in Canada? I mean, it depends on where you move to. Like here on Vancouver Island, we have palm trees. Some years the snow lasts 2 days. That's it. Is it true you burned our White House to the ground? That is true. We did that in 1814. Sorry. Are you okay with Black people coming? Of course we are, and trans people, and Muslims. Yes, yes, yes, all the rest, yes. What we want are decent people who want the best for their family and their community. That's it. We don't care who you love, where your family's from, how you worship. That's your business. I've heard you need $200,000 in the bank to come. Absolutely false. I've heard if I have a disability, I won't be approved for permanent residency. Absolutely false. Why is your milk in a bag? Because where else would you put it? Fucking weirdos. I'm a healthcare worker, I want to move to British Columbia. Go to healthmatchbc.org and click the employment opportunities link. There's almost 2,000 job openings for you to look at. Is housing expensive? Like, it can be if you have to live in Vancouver or Toronto. Yeah, it costs a lot there. But there are a million communities all over this country that need people. And if you're a healthcare worker, you'll even get bonus pay just for living there with your family and working in the community. Can we bring our pets? Of course you can. Are you single? No, but my wife is very understanding. How much political division is there in Canada? Like, we have division, but compromise and coalition building are baked into the governance system here. We don't have two parties that get nothing done. We have five parties that get nothing done. And nobody's storming the House of Commons because some Facebook group said the voting machines were woke. We don't even have voting machines here. How much are healthcare copays? Zero. We don't have them. How much are out-of-network fees? None of this is a thing here. We have one network, it's called Canada, and you get healthcare here no matter how much money is in your bank account. I got a felony when I was 19. Eh, it's not necessarily an issue. Like, it depends on what the felony was and how long ago it was. It's not an automatic no. Why does your money look like Monopoly money? Because colours are fun. The real question is why is your money so boring and the same? Isn't that a little communist? Is Canada really safer than America? Can I buy a handgun in America? By literally every measure and study, yes, by a mile, or as we'd say, 1.6 kilometers. Can I buy a handgun in Canada? No, you cannot buy or sell handguns in this country at all anymore. Does that mean I can't protect my home? Of course you can. Under Canadian law, the force you use to defend yourself or your family just has to be appropriate to the threat. You can't shoot someone in the face with a shotgun because they knocked on your door here. You'll go to prison for that. I heard you had drag queens. That is true. That is, that is true. Some of them are really hot. But do you guys have vaccines? Yes, we do. We believe in science here. We invented insulin. Look, if you're a healthcare worker and you're looking for places to move to, where I live on Vancouver Island, we would welcome you with open arms. Check out nanaimoinfusion.ca.
