In this video, organizer Tod Maffin (with co‑organizer Jocelyn) addresses Mid‑Island/Nanaimo residents about the upcoming TŌSŋ NĀIMO infusion event on April 25, 2026. Approximately 700 visitors, many of whom are healthcare workers scouting BC for work, will be in town. The speaker outlines three ways locals can help – wearing stick‑on name‑tags that state a personal interest, joining the event Discord and posting in the “adopt a visitor” channel, and engaging with visitors identified by red lanyards. He also stresses two prohibitions: do not bring a booth or table to Maffinio Sutton Park on Saturday, as it could violate the park permit and insurance, and do not plan to park at the noon event; alternative parking options are provided on the event website. Additional details, including a family photo at noon and a link to 2026.nanaimoinfusion.ca, are given.

The TŌSŋ NĀIMO infusion is in less than 2 weeks, and if you are a local who lives in the Mid-Island, this video is for you. Now, it looks like we might get like 700 or so tourists. Half of the groups have healthcare workers in them coming to check out BC as a place that they could work and live in. Jocelyn and I could use your help. 3 things you can do and 2 things please don't do. We're gonna start with the latter. Please do not bring a booth or a table down to Maffinio Sutton Park on the Saturday. We're sharing the park with the Qi Gong group, and our park permit is very specific about what we can set up. I cannot say this clearly enough: please, please do not bring a table or a booth. It could shut down the event or invalidate our insurance. Second, do not plan to park there on Saturday at the noon event. We have parking options on this webpage for you, or you can walk from downtown or something. It is going to be a gong show. Okay, now on to the things you can do. We are going to have stick-on name tags that say "I'm a local, ask me about," and then you can write what you're passionate about. So if you want to meet fellow bowlers write bowling. If you want people to come to Port Alberni, write that. Second, join the Discord. Introduce yourself in the introductions channel, and then if you're willing to pick someone up at the ferry or join them for lunch or show them whatever, your favorite hiking trails, you can post something about yourself in the adopt a visitor channel or read through that channel and find a visitor who is looking. And finally, when you see people in town with red lanyards on, that's them. Chat them up, ask them how they're doing, where they're from. Last year's event was crazy. We are expecting at least double this time around. You can get more information at 2026.nanaimoinfusion.ca, and we hope to see you April 25th at noon for the big family photo.
