So it turns out the Americans were not negotiating in good faith after all. I know, shocker, right? After months of negotiations, and after demanding and us conceding to remove the digital sales tax, they're still going to charge American companies a 35% tariff on Canadian goods. It's not ideal. It's not the whole picture either. Remember, the vast majority of what we export to the US is still protected under our free trade agreement. Those are not tariffed. That hasn't changed. And if you're looking for a bit of perspective or reassurance, look to the back of any Quebec car, the license plate. Je me souviens. I remember. We've been through free trade fights before. Softwood, dairy, steel. We adapted, we held our ground, we moved forward. This is just another moment to do the same. Keep avoiding American products in the stores. And as the Dead Dog Cafe taught us, stay calm, be brave, wait for the signs. Canada's ready. We're prepared. And unfortunately for the Americans, we remember. This weekend I'm releasing my comprehensive audit on 9 grocery stores and how much American food they still stock. It might change where you shop, and you can get it by going here or by tapping the link in my bio.
