The Stanley Cup is NOT meant for palm trees and piña coladas

A comedian rants about why the Stanley Cup doesn't belong in Florida, arguing hockey is a Canadian birthright earned through brutal winters. He mocks the image of a Zamboni melting in the sun and compares it to skiing in Saskatchewan, framing the Cup in the tropics as morally wrong and absurd.

No, no, no, no, no, no, the Stanley Cup does not belong in Florida. It is not a sun sport. It is not a beach sport. It's not something you do between trips to the tiki bar, checking your phone for tanning tips. It's not supposed to be played in a place where the Zamboni might melt. Hockey in Florida is like skiing in Saskatchewan. Technically possible, morally wrong. Who even let the Americans into the NHL anyway? We kicked them out of the CFL, except for the teams we invited in because we needed the money. Anyway, my point is that hockey is for people who've had their eyelashes freeze together. Here in Canada, when the Stanley Cup rolls through town, you feel it. Kids wear jerseys to school. Every third lawn is an ice rink. There's one kid in the net, one pretending to be the Rocket with half a stick in a full-blown delusion. And if you don't know who the Rocket is, then you're probably not Canadian. Why are you even here? Shouldn't you be figuring out how to air-condition a parade float? Or as Vancouver calls it, a riot float. Look, let me ask you this: if the Stanley Cup was supposed to live in the tropics, Why does it have snow engraved on it? I mean, it doesn't, but it should. Who won last year? A Canadian—
oh wait.
Regardless, this madness has to stop. Hockey is not just a game in Canada. It's a birthright. It's a civic duty. It is something we earn by suffering through 6 months of weather that actively tries to kill you. No more Stanley Cups below the snowline. If your Christmas tree has ever been a palm tree, You're out. If your team's mascot wears sunglasses, disqualified. Let us have our cup, dammit. The only cup Florida should be lifting is made of coconut and has a little umbrella in it. But anyway, congratulations, Americans. Enjoy the cup. Deep down, we all know it's just visiting.
You go to the box, you know, 2 minutes by yourself, and you feel shame, you know, and then you get free.
