We wanted the most Canadian merch possible. Turns out, it was just up the road from us.

Tod Maffin shut down his merch store when he learned production was outsourced to the US, then found a Vancouver Island family business that hand-dyes, hand-screens, and hand-sews everything from organic cotton. The relaunched store offers three collections with no dropshipping or AI involved.

I made a mistake. Last year I had a merch store. I found out after setting it up that the company I chose to make the stuff with was offloading some of that work to the US. I don't hate the US, but we're kind of in a boycott right now. So I asked you what I should do, and most of you said, "Close it down. Do the right thing." So I did. 3 weeks before Christmas, which by the way is probably the single worst time to stop selling things, and I promised that I would not reopen until Jocelyn and I could personally guarantee the most Canadian products possible and make it easier for Americans to order without getting gouged by the tariffs that their own government charges them now because something about freedom. I'm not sure why any of this is happening. This is Hannah and Martin. They own a small family-run apparel store just up the road from us on Vancouver Island. They make the shirts themselves. The fabric is organic cotton. It's dyed in Canada. They get it in huge rolls. Nicole here cuts the fabric, hand sews it. She walks it 30 steps into the production room. They hand screen it, prepare it, pack it, ship it all from their little store. Using sustainable materials and fair labour, all Canadian, no AI, no dropshipping. So the merch store is open again, but for a limited time. It is at shop.todmaffin.com. All orders get a card from me and Jocelyn. The first few orders will get some free Mirror Falls stickers. There are 3 collections: Relentless Decency, I Stand With Canada, and Mirror Falls. Lots of colour options. There are shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, stickers made from recycled vinyl, and yes, there are some properly sized shirts for women. I'm sorry about that too, I have no idea how the real world works. And Americans, if you check "pick up at the store" when you order, they will bring your order with your name on it to the Nanaimo infusion event at the end of April. You won't pay for shipping. And yes, Canadians, this applies to you too. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for holding me to account. And thank you for supporting a small family-run Canadian business.
