What's up everybody, Tommy Castano, founder of Outdoor Body, here in Sequoia National Park. Today we have a peak giant upper burn. I'm, I'm saying giant because we are amongst the giant trees in the entire world. The giant forest in the Sequoias right behind me, 3 massive Trunks. This place is magical, it's epic, and we are going to burn, shred up that upper body. We got our abs, we got shoulders, we got chest. This is going to be a 21-minute burner. This is going to be a good one. So how it's going to roll is you got 3 exercises, you're going to do it twice in a row. Each exercise is 30 seconds. We have 7 rounds. For instance, the first round, it's going to be 30 seconds of push-ups, 30 seconds of low plank, then 30 seconds of a Superman hold. We do that 2 times, then we move on to the next round.
We got 7 of those.
This is going to be the giant burn. Everything's giant. We're in the Giant Forest. If you've never been to Sequoia National Park in the Sierra Nevadas, This place is stunning. So we're going to get after it. I hope you're ready. Hope you got your mind right because we're about to burn it up. So starting off, 30 seconds of push-ups in 3, in 2, and 1. Let's go wild.
Here we go. Down, straight up, keeping that core tight. Remember, we got a lot of push-ups, a lot of shoulder stuff. So if we work on form— quality over quantity of the exercises. 5 seconds and we got low plank. 1, here we go. Low plank, just like that. Let's get it. Keep that core tight. 30, 30, 30. 2 rounds. Man, this place is so cool. These sequoias are outstanding. I mean, there's so many descriptive words for them. The largest is General Sherman right down the road. Here we go, Superman, straight up, and you're just locking out. Squeezing that corn back. General Sherman's 275 feet tall, over 1,300 tons. One of the many amazing things about the Sequoias is their roots don't go deep, they spread wide. So think of them as tall as they are, that's how wide their roots spread. Here we go, back to push-ups. Let's go, down and up. I was talking to a ranger yesterday, he said the General Sherman roots spread about 1.5 acres wide. Let's go, down and up, nice and easy, core tight. This is our peak workout.
Come on, and plank.
This is going to burn.
Woo!
Come on. So in the Giant Forest, obviously there's many, many giant sequoias, the biggest in the entire world.
Let's go.
3, 2, 1, here we go.
Supermans.
Next round we got tricep push-ups, side plank on the right. Whoo, come on, feeling good, looking good. Oh yeah. And then we got our back crunches. So tricep push-ups, keeping your hands— 3, 2, 1— nice and tight, just like that. Here we go. I want the legs super wide, straight down, straight up. These ones go slow. Squeeze those triceps, obviously chest and shoulders too. A lot of push-ups. That's why it's a giant upper body burn. Come on, squeezing tight. Last one. Here we go, we got side plank on the right. I'm gonna get dirty today. Let's go. Feeling good, looking good, making it burn.
Here we go.
Honestly, the one thing I'm worried about is the big pine cones coming down. 3, 2, 1, back crunch, squeezing just like that.
Imagining you have 100-pound dumbbells.
So these things just fall all the time. At least they're not heavy.
Let's go, squeezing.
10 seconds.
If you ever feel— I know this is a peak workout, but we have a lot of push-ups.
If you ever feel like you have too much pressure in shoulders, you can always go on your knees. Here we go, down and straight up, legs wide, tricep push-ups. Let's get it, baby!
Come on! Whoo!
15 seconds. Oh yeah, 10 seconds. One more, nice and deep. That's it. Side plank on the right.
Let's go.
Burning and churning this giant upper workout. Let's go. It is so quiet here. There's actually a little stream behind me. Let's go, 10 seconds. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Coming up, we got our crunches. So remember, squeezing that back nice and tight.
Oh yeah.
Next we have our wide push-up.
So super wide, nice and slow. Side plank on the left.
Oh yeah, let's go!
And shoulder raises. Oh yeah, stay with me, big burn, baby. Here we go. Whoo! So super wide, just like that. Legs tight and going straight down, straight up, straight down, straight up.
Core tight.
The peak, 15 seconds, nice and slow. 2, 1, here we go. Side plank on the left, just like that. Then we're gonna stay on our knees, we just have shoulder raises. To the front. Remember, those raises, it's just body weight, but you really got to concentrate on those shoulders, isolate those muscles. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Coming up, here we go. Core tight, straight up, straight down, squeezing as tight as you can.
Let's go!
Look at these trunks. I mean, it is crazy. I was saying, the weight of the General Sherman, the biggest in the world, is over 1,300 tons. That is heavy. Squeeze. Here we go, wide push-ups, super wide. Let's get it! Down and up. Core tight, belly button to spine. Come on, you got this. 15 seconds.
Woo!
2, 1, here we go.
Side plank on the left.
Oh yeah, you are doing great! I know those shoulders are burning. We're not even halfway done yet. Let's go, 15 seconds, stay with me. 10 seconds.
5.
4, 3, 2, 1.
Coming up, here we go.
Shoulder raise. Remember, squeeze those front delts. Core tight, belly button to spine. This is— get that giant upper body burn.
Let's go.
Next we have shoulder push-ups. So we're kind of in that down dog position.
Focusing on those top traps.
Then we got figure 8 crunches and side raise.
Here we go.
So listen, hands kind of on an angle just like that, in that down position. I'm just going straight down, straight up. Squeeze those shoulders, squeeze those traps.
Let's go.
Let's go! Squeeze it, kind of the top of your head going down into the ground. One, here we go. So we got that core figure-eight.
Let's get it! 15 seconds.
Oh yeah, then we got the shoulder side raise. Same thing, concentrating on those side delts. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, coming up just like this. Here we go, side raise, core tight, let's go.
Over-exaggerate the process. 15 seconds.
It is a fall morning, it's nice and brisk. We are burning this upper body. 3, 2, 1, we're back to those shoulder Push-ups, digging in deep.
Let's go! Ooh, side angle!
Come on, you got 10 seconds left. Oh yeah, here we go! Bigger 8s, locking out those legs. Come on, 15 seconds, 10 seconds. Oh yeah, do it for the Sequoias.
3, 2, 1.
We got our side raise.
Come on, straight up, core tight.
Next we got tricep dips, boat curls.
Come on.
And then we're hitting the upper abs for toe tap crunch.
Let's go. 2 and 1.
Here we go, on the back right here. So once again, you're tapping, locking out. You won't have too much room. You want to focus on the lockout of the triceps at the top right there, squeezing that horseshoe. Let's go. Doing good. Let's go, 10 seconds. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Those hips can lock up.
Here we go.
So in that boat position, squeezing.
I'm keeping the legs just like that.
If you want, you can lock them out also. I just want to focus on the curls. Concentration, over-exaggerate. Once again, it's body weight, so imagine you've got 100-pound dumbbells, you're squeezing them. Come on, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Here we go, just going straight back just like this, hands behind the head, and you're going to crunch straight up.
I said taps, but I like these better. Squeeze in the top. Don't put pressure on your neck, just hands lightly, then squeeze those top abs.
Let's go.
3, 2, 1, coming down.
We got our dips. Come on.
Woo!
We getting it. Giant sequoias are with us today. It's magical. Oh yeah, man, they are so tall. 3, 2, 1, we got our boat curls.
Let's go.
Remember, over-exaggerate, isolate those biceps. We getting it in, we're almost there. Make it burn. Hotter it burns, hotter it dries. Come on, 10 seconds. Remember, on those top crunches, don't jerk your neck. Nice and light, focusing on the top portion of those abs.
Let's get it. I'm on a little bit of an angle. 20 seconds, then we got shoulder taps right into our back swimmers and Russian twists.
10 seconds. Hitting some core.
3, 2, 1.
Nice.
Here we go. So we're back to that high plank. We just got shoulder taps just like that. Here we go. Oh, mommy. Then we're just going to drop it on our stomach. We're going to go swimmers nice and slow. Swimmers, just activating those lats. Remember, squeeze that core tight. 3, 2, 1, coming down just like this, swimming. You can just lock the legs up, bring those elbows in, squeezing those lats. Come on. Oh yeah. Over-exaggerate.
15 seconds.
10 seconds. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Switch it over. Now I want you to lock the legs right here, squeeze the hands tight.
We got our Russian twist.
What's your eyes facing? Those locked hands, squeeze them tight. Keep that belly button nice and tight. We getting it in. 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. We got our high plank taps. Let's go, go this way. Tap, tap. Doing great, looking good, feeling good. Come on, that giant burn, baby. Come on, 5 seconds. 2, 1, coming down. We got our swimmers locking out, bringing the elbows in.
Woo!
15 seconds. Woo! 10 seconds, come on. 3, 2, 1. One. On the booty. Here we go. Russian twist. What a magical place right here in Sequoia National Park. Always making sure the land's safe and protected. We're right along the Congress Trail. 10 seconds. Let's go! We're burning out with shifters. These are gonna be tough. Here we go. So we're going super wide, just like this, legs wide. We're going down, 1, 2, 1, 2, come up, break. We're only gonna be able to do a couple. Down, 1, 2, 1, 2, come up and break. Let's go. 1, 2, 2, come up and break. 1, 2, 2, come up and break. Here we go, we got our suitcase.
Lock it out, stretching out.
Come on.
Oh yeah, come on, get up here a little bit. Almost there. Let's go.
Oh yes. Oh yeah.
3, 2, 1. Hands below right here. We got big chops. Squeezing tight. Point those toes up. Finishing up chest and core. Oh yeah, 15 seconds, come on, stay with me. 10 seconds, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Coming over, one more round. We got our shifters. I'm on it, down, locking out. All day. Let's finish strong.
Coming up, 4, 2, 3. Whoo!
Come on, coming up. Oh yeah, 2, 3, 4. Let's go, last one. 2, 3, 4. Went a little over suitcase. No Nice and slow.
I'm with these slow. Remember, lock out and coming up, squeeze.
Oh yeah, 10 seconds.
Stay with me, we're almost there. Last one. And our big chops. Let's go, finish strong here in Sequoia. Let's get it, 20 seconds.
