Promotion, Promotion, Repurpose, Promotion

Tracy Hazzard advises podcasters to actively promote their shows through constant self-promotion (mentioning the show in talks, emails, social media, and printed materials), by encouraging guests to share episodes using tactics like "ego bait," and by repurposing episode content into clips, YouTube Shorts, memes, and blog posts so search engines and audiences can find and share the show.

It always shocks me that podcasters aren't the best promoters of their own show. It happens all the time that I'm in the audience listening to a speech from a podcast client and they don't tell anyone about their show. They forget to self promote. One of the best things you can do is to be out there telling everyone about your show. Let them know you have a podcast. It's a great way to follow up with you. It's a great way for them to passively check you out later. You should tell everyone you have a show. I've got another show. It's called the Binge factor. I also have feed your brand, which is potatoes, tips. I'm always out there telling people I've got shows. You need to do the same thing. That's the best way you can promote your show. The second way to promote your show is to get guests to do it for you. Right. When you have your guests, make sure they want to share it. We do something we call ego bait, which I'll share for you on this page so that you'll be able to check out that episode that we've done and how we do it. But it's a way that I say something great about my guest so that they will share the episode that they were in on social media, because they will remember what a great experience it was and what I say sounds like a testimonial, so they're more likely to share it. So those are some great ways to promote. But forgetting to share it on social media, forgetting to tell all your friends, forgetting to put it in email, forgetting to shout it out from the stage when you're giving a presentation. These are all such great things that you can do. You can create QR codes, you can create stickers and pass them out. There's so many ways that you can promote your show. The one other way that I want to remind you is repurposing is a form of promotion. When we repurpose something as a video meme, as a YouTube short, as a clip somewhere, and we share that we're promoting our show. When we repurpose as a blog, we're sharing our show because we're making sure that Google can find us. So, so promote, promote, repurpose, promote, keep it going and make sure everybody knows about your valuable show. Because otherwise, how do you expect to get more listeners? How do you expect those listeners to turn it into even more of what you're looking for? More business, more followers, more emails on your list, more speaking engagements, more of everything. Happens when you remember to promote.
