Your Home Base and Why it's a Must Have for Business Growth

Tracy and Tom Hazzard explain why podcasters need their own website instead of relying on hosting platforms or social media. About 70% of listeners discover podcasts through Google, and a WordPress site ranks better there, converting visitors into subscribers, email signups, or customers.

Here at Potatoes, the one thing we really know is that having a home base for your podcast is one of.
The biggest power plays in getting more.
Business, more speaking engagements, more authority building, more of whatever it is you're looking for. Bigger email list could be any of those things that you're looking for. But most business podcasters, what they're looking.
More for can happen better and faster if they have a home base. And that home base shouldn't be provided.
By your hosting platform like we talked about in the Hosting Hijackers.
It shouldn't be somewhere on social media because those things belong to the social.
Media channel, they don't belong to you. They're not you in isolation. There's lots of distractions and other things being sold and being pushed and being moved around there.
That's why we say your best home base is a website. And because we've been in and supported over a thousand websites for our podcast clients, we also know that the best home based website is a WordPress website.
Can't stress that enough. I know it's not as easy and as fun and as simple as Squarespace and Wix and all of those other things. And there are definitely some that are better and worse. And we have a whole podcast episode on that, so we'll share that here for you as well. But the reality is is that a WordPress website is ranked by Google in a better way. It plays well with YouTube, so if you've got a video cast, it's playing really well there. In addition, and what happens is it's.
Another way for you to get more and more people who are out there looking for you, searching for information and.
Seeking to find you.
And when you have a website, especially.
A WordPress website that's highly Google ranked.
What we find is about 70% of listeners come from Google and find their next podcast. So you're going to get more podcasts through your website and into being subscribers and they might come onto your email.
List, they might buy a program from you, they might buy your next book.
So by getting them there, you have an opportunity to connect with them further and not leave them in that podcast.
Ecosystem that where you don't know who they are and what they're doing.
The website is your best friend and it is your biggest business builder as a podcaster.
