Brandon Finn, EVP of asphalt at Emery Sapp & Sons, explains how Edgevanta's software replaced their old system of tracking competitors with highlighters on highway maps. The platform lets them assess competitor backlogs within days of a letting and keeps bid notes in one searchable place.

My name is Brandon Finn. I'm the executive vice president for the asphalt group at Inrecept and Sons Construction. Elmersap is a heavy civil company. We do concrete paving, new construction, bridge rehabs, asphalt paving. Before Edgevanta, we have always tried to measure our competitors, but we were literally doing it on a physical state highway map and using highlighters. But with Edvanta, I think it's given us a definite advantage to be able to quickly assess our competitor backlog within a few days of the letting. For us, number one, it's a great storehouse of information. We have historically always kept great notes, and we'll sit down and go through those notes at the bid table. This program allows us to save those notes in the bid form, and anytime we want, we can go back and look at those. I think the biggest thing that stuck out to me was the ease of use and the support that we've gotten from the very first generation that we have. They have gotten us extremely comfortable with the data and the process that we're getting out of Edge of Athletics. For anybody that's not using edgevan, the one thing I would tell them is he who understands this technology best wins.
