So there's a tricky place that many of us get stuck, particularly this time of year, because this tends to be the time of year where we all set new goals and we've all got new things that we want to achieve and so on. But the catch for many of us is that we struggle to stay motivated, and we struggle to stay motivated because for most of us, it's actually quite challenging to follow through and do the things we know we need to do to reach our goals. Now, Although it is challenging and it can be difficult, the truth is most of the time it's actually very simple. Like with weight loss, it's simple actions in your diet, simple actions in your exercise, simple actions maybe with sleep and recovery and so on. There may be simple actions with hydration and things, but for many of us it's difficult to follow through and do those things. Same when it comes to business or in relationships. Like with your relationship, it might just be go on one date night a week and that will help your relationship. But we struggle to make that a consistent habit because it's new and it's something else I've got to think about. And we get very comfortable in our current habits. Now, the catch is when it comes to, well, how do I stay motivated to do these things, especially when they become challenging and difficult and so on? What we have to kind of look at is the fact that motivation is temporary, and that goes for all of us. There's always going to be this case, even quite often when we're getting results and, oh, this is actually quite easy, I'm losing weight and so on, and I'm moving towards my goals, even that at times can still become demotivating because it's boring, it's same old, it's same old, and I just get fed up with the routine even though I'm getting results and therefore lose motivation. So what we need to understand is, well, if motivation is temporary, what do I need in place of that? And the truth is what we actually need is momentum. Now, momentum of course comes from the accumulation of results, because once we start getting results, it's much harder for us to want to let go of them. It's different when you start taking actions and you give up before you see the outcomes, because it's like, well, I did it, it didn't make any difference, so what's the difference? It won't make any difference if I do give this up because I've stayed the same regardless. But if we can actually step up and follow through to the point of results, now it's like, hmm, okay, even though this is maybe boring and repetitive, or maybe it is difficult for me to do, I don't want to stop getting results. I'm actually quite enjoying the feeling of getting these results, the, the, um, and enjoying seeing my body change and, and obviously get better. And that will help us build momentum that enables us to continue taking action even when things are boring or we lose motivation or if it gets difficult and challenging. Now, that doesn't mean it now becomes easy necessarily, but it's certainly much easier for us to follow through and do those things because we see the benefit. We say, oh, okay, well, I'm doing this. I may be going through this, this harder time or these challenges because it's going to yield good results and benefit to me that I'm actually going to enjoy living with, rather than kind of always hoping and waiting for motivation or searching around YouTube looking for the latest crazy motivational video from your favorite celebrity, which some of us do. Um, but again, it's temporary. You might listen to something, find it completely inspiring and, and even mind-bending in some time, and sometimes, but again, it's temporary. We listen to it once, wow, it's awesome, and then you listen to it again, wow, it's awesome, and then over time it just becomes normal. You know exactly what they're going to say, you've heard it a million times before, and because it's now normal and no longer awe-inspiring, it no longer has that same motivational effect. And it's no different with our results and no different with the actions that we need to take. So instead, like I was talking about in yesterday's video, it's a simple case of making a decision. So I've made the decision, the choice, this is what I'm going for regardless. That way we need less motivation because motivation there or not, I've made a decision and a choice. That's what I'm doing, that's what I've declared, so that's what I will create. And then of course, as I say, we push through to the point of results so that we can actually build momentum. And once you accumulate enough results and start seeing the aesthetic changes or the, the monetary changes or the relationship and love and connection changes, once you see those benefits happening in whichever domain of life you're working on, it's much harder for you to give up on them because you see the benefit. You've built that momentum, and you're more likely to continue following through. So that's what I'll leave you guys with tonight. Don't worry so much about motivation. Instead, focus on building momentum, and you'll be far more likely to both get results and then maintain results. If you have any questions on this, drop them in the comments below.
