The BEST way to stop BEING Fat, is to stop ACTING Fat!

Stop overcomplicating weight loss with fancy diets and equipment. The speaker argues that adopting the daily habits of fit people—consistent workouts, basic nutrition, the right mindset—is what actually works. You don't need hours at the gym; 15 to 60 minutes a few times a week is enough if you're consistent.

So there's this, this tricky place that many of us get stuck. And what often happens when we're trying to get in shape is we overcomplicate the process and we, we start worrying about, well, what should I be eating? How many times should I be training? What's the best type of exercise? Should I do cardio? Should I do weights? Is kettlebells the best thing to use, or should I use a barbell, or should I use a treadmill, or actually get out and run, or maybe I should cycle? But then am I better off on a static bike, or should I get a real bike? And then should I do off-road or on-road? And we just overthink the fuck out of it all. Now, in reality, as offensive as this comment can sound, the best way to stop being fat is to stop acting fat. It's no different from what my coach says when he says, well, the best way to stop feeling old is to stop acting old. So what it essentially means is that regardless of the specific tactics that we're going to use to try and lose weight, to get in shape, to get fitter, leaner, stronger, healthier, and so on, Regardless of those specific tactics that we decide to use, the ultimate goal is to stop acting in the ways that led us to where we are. The reason we end up overweight or out of shape or feeling tired or with an achy body and so on is because we act in ways that lead to those outcomes. Whereas if we were able to step back and go, oh, hang on, I'm not fat just because of how I eat, I'm not fat just because of how I do or don't train and so on. It's actually this combination of habits, behaviors, and, and ways of thinking that have been going on. Basically, I've been acting fat, and that's therefore led me to being fat. My habits, my behaviors, and so on are those of a fat person— someone that's overweight, unhealthy, out of shape, unhappy, unfulfilled. That's how I've been acting, so therefore that's the outcome that was given to me. That's the outcome I created for myself. So actually, the way to get around this is to act like a fit person, act like a lean, strong, healthy person, act like somebody who's not fat. And therefore, as a result of doing so, I will naturally stop being a fat person. Of course, it doesn't happen overnight. We don't suddenly go, oh, well, I ate one healthy meal and suddenly I lost 20 pounds of fat. Of course, it doesn't happen in that way. But the truth is, it's those consistent habits and behaviors that are in alignment with being fit, lean, strong, and healthy, that's actually going to create that fit, lean, strong, and healthy body that we're looking for. Now, of course, we have the headache and the stress of the rest of life that's in the way. Sometimes we're hectic and chaotic in our business, and as a result, our clients or, or the daily processes and things that we have to do in our business take all our time. Then, of course, we have the compound of family, partner, kids, and so on. It's like all these other things that we're trying to juggle and manage that get in the way and prevent us from being the fit, lean, powerful version of us that we want to be. But the catch is, we'll notice with anybody else that is fit, lean, strong, and healthy, that has the body that we want, they show up and do those things regardless. Now, of course, they may have different specific things going on in their business, in their balance, in their being, and so on that is different to us, but they still find a way to make it work so that they can have the body that they want. Now, of course, if we did the same, if we were like, you know what, I could just carve out maybe 5% of my day, 5% of my day where I actually act like the fit, lean, strong, healthy version of me, that might be enough to get me where I'm going. Now, that sounds like not a lot, but that's actually an hour of our day. So if we were to say, okay, well, I'll take 1 hour a day, which is actually less than 5%, that will actually make massive differences for you and help you get to where you're going. We don't have to do 3 hours and 4 hours, or multiple training sessions and so on. And it doesn't even have to be every single day, but what we do need to do is pick at least 2, 3 days and be consistent with it, whether this is in our training, whether this is with our nutrition and so on. Now, nutrition, ideally we do for more than 2 or 3 days, of course, but in regards to exercise, many of us are like, well, I don't have the time to train. But if you were to just give yourself 2 or 3 days where you take 30 to 60 minutes You could even do it in 15 minutes if you have the right type of program, such as my 12 at 12 workouts and things like that. You could do it in 15 minutes a day. You don't even need the whole hour. But if you were willing to say, you know what, I don't have the time because I won't make the time— not a, not a case of actually I don't have the time because the time isn't available, it's available. It's just a case of whether you will take the power that you have and use it to take back time for yourself. And if you do that You can open up an hour, maybe 90 minutes, maybe 2 hours, maybe more, but it's irrelevant. We only need an hour to get started. We only need 30 minutes to get started if you're willing to do that. But we have to get into this, this mind frame of I cannot continue to act in ways that fat people act because if I do, I'll continue to be fat, overweight, unhealthy, and unhappy. So what I need to do is start showing up in the ways, or at least in similar ways, to the way that fit, healthy, lean people do. And therefore, that is the outcome that I will create for myself. So that's what I'll leave you guys with today. My question for you, though, just before I wrap up, is where in your life have you been showing up as the wrong version of yourself? The fat, the tired, the unhealthy, maybe even the lazy version that you know you need to shift and move into this newer, healthier version, acting in ways that are in alignment with your goals so that you can actually open up this next year and become the version of you that you know you're meant to be.
