You WANT it to be harder than it really is?🤔

People sabotage simple solutions by making them harder than necessary, then quit when the complexity becomes too much. The speaker shares how he does this with business tasks and content creation, driven by perfectionism and fear of judgment. He asks where you're over-complicating your own goals.

Now, one of the many struggles that many of you are probably facing right now and probably don't even realize it is that you're stuck within a paradox. Now, this paradox on one side says, I wish getting healthy, reaching my goals was easy. I wish it was easy because if it was easy, then I'd do the thing. The catch-22 is when we're presented with an easy option to get it, we think it's too simple and therefore it won't work. So what we then do is create complexity around it in our mind. It's like, no, it can't be as simple as just eat a little bit better, move a little bit more, and get a bit more rest and recovery. Surely this health game, losing weight, like I've been struggling with it for so many years, surely it's not that simple. It must be more complicated. So then we find all these fancy ways within ourselves to complicate the game because then in our mind it will seem like a greater achievement. Not only did I reach my goal, But I also did all of these fancy and complex things, which gave me a greater sense of achievement. I was able to boast about it and brag about it more because I pulled off this hard task that led to this almost impossible outcome. But the catch-22 is we obviously then can't maintain it. So we create the complexity not only to make it seem like a greater achievement, but also because it gives us an excuse to not follow through. Ah, fuck that shit, it's just too difficult. It's a nice idea, I'd like to have it, but it's just, it's not for me right now. I just, I don't have the time, I don't have the resources, I don't have the energy, and I just can't create the capacity within myself to follow through because it's just too complicated. I wish it was so much easier. Then again, we cycle around and eventually someone like myself comes along and goes, you know, this health game is really, really simple. It's really simple. But yeah, but I wish it was simpler. No, it's this simple. It's eat a bit better, move a bit more, get a bit more rest and recovery. And along with that, maybe just try reframing some of your ideas and your stories. So think a little bit better in relation to what you want to achieve. Done. Now, problem is, again, nah, that just sounds way too simple. Let me overcomplicate this shit so that I can then have an excuse to fall off the bandwagon again once I realize I've overcomplicated it and made it too complex. Now it sounds like a crazy cycle, but it's the type of shit that we do. And I've done this myself also in, in business especially. Um, with my body it's not been so bad. I've been able to, generally speaking, maintain pretty good consistency. But when it comes to my business, I fuck things up all the time. It's like, here's my big goal, all I need to do is 1, 2, and 3, but why don't I add in 5, 6, 4, 8, put in all these additional things, try and do all those, and then guess what? Not get the results I wanted because it's too complicated now, it's too many things to focus on, and so on. So my question for you guys is, where are you maybe even deliberately overcomplicating the game to, one, give you an out, but also seemingly give you this greater sense of achievement? But unfortunately, you don't reach the achievement because you overcomplicated the shit. So where are you doing that? Where are you fucking things up because you know you're overcomplicating? Mate, I can't speak, it's getting way late. So anyway, where are you overcomplicating the game far more than you need to? Now we all do it, so don't feel bad for it, don't beat yourself up, it doesn't matter. What matters is, will you stop doing it? Will you take the time to sit with yourself and go, you know what, you've been doing this for too long now, I actually do want this result, so you need to stop overcomplicating Wow. I never knew that overcomplicated was such a complicated word to say. But my point, of course, is where are you overcomplicating it? Maybe I'm overcomplicating what I'm trying to say and therefore can't get the job done. Maybe it was my excuse to not have a perfect video without me stumbling over my words. But anyway, that's the game we play. So when we do these things, it's not going to be perfect. Like you notice with my content, I regularly trip over my words where I've got so many things I'm trying to say so quickly. But there's this part of me on one side that's like, it must be perfect. Like, don't do this. That's what's taken me so long to get consistent with my content because there's this idea or story in my head that if it's not perfect, people will think I'm dumb. If it's not perfect, people will refuse to watch. If it's not perfect, I'm not going to get the results for people, which is absolute bullshit. They're just stories, beliefs, rules I've made up in my own mind to give me the excuse to not commit. To not go all in, to not go live daily, to not communicate with the people I'm trying to help, but instead stay stuck in my small little comfort of, of my box, you know, and, and not have to push myself, not go outside my, my barriers or my comfort zone. But the catch-22 with that is I don't then get what I want. So there's— there you go, guys. That's my question. As I say, where are you over— over— I still can't fucking do it. Where are you overcomplicating things and therefore making it way harder than it needs to be. I'm going to get off this video because I clearly can't say the word overcomplicate without stumbling. So that's it for tonight, people. I'm not even going to apologize for screwing up and messing up what I was trying to say. So thanks for watching. Any questions, as always, people, drop them below. If any of you know of a great speech therapist, drop their link in the comments and I'll contact them as soon as I can. And I look forward to chatting with you people in my next video. Take it easy, guys.
