Your ability to endure Pain and Suffering is both your Blessing and your Curse!

Your ability to endure pain can trap you. Resilience helps you survive hard situations, but it can also make you stay in harmful ones because you know you can handle it. The speaker warns that accepting chronic pain as normal, or feeling you deserve to suffer, keeps you stuck and prevents real change.

Your ability to endure pain and suffering is both a blessing and a curse. Now, I say this because, of course, on one side it's a blessing in the respect that if you have the, the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical fortitude to deal with pain and suffering, that is of course a good thing. And in reality, it's something we could all benefit from having because we want to be able to deal with stressful times and chaotic times and so on. And times of deep pain and suffering. Because if we don't, especially with the chaos going on in our world these days, then of course it tends to take its toll on us. We find that our health starts to drift, our mental state starts to drift, and we become anxious or depressed, and we struggle to deal with things and keep up with it. On the flip side though, it's also a bit of a catch, because if we're kind of blessed with this gift or this ability to deal with and endure pain and suffering, it also becomes a bit of a curse in the respect that many of us get caught in this rut where we won't actually do anything to solve it because we can handle it. So it's like we have a pain, a stressor, some chaos and turmoil and shit going on. And because we can deal with it mentally, emotionally, and so on, we just let it ride out and we kind of hope that, oh, well, sooner or later this will pass. Rather than actually taking a proactive stance and doing something about it, stepping up and going, hang on a minute, I don't want to feel like this. I don't deserve to feel like this. I'm going to do something about it. So we get caught in this, this place, as I say, where because we're good at handling it, we allow ourselves to just deal with it. Now, the catch with that is sometimes that can become the goal, and that's when we tend to get stuck in there for long extended periods of time. And then we do reach a point where we want to get out. But now we're caught and stuck in the narratives and beliefs that we need to kind of stay there because there was some level of comfort that we were getting from being stuck in this, this pain and this suffering. So, for example, it might be a case of because you're constantly struggling or got things going on, people perceive you as being strong. Oh my God. Wow. Look, you've got all this stuff going on and you just seem to handle it so well. And we feel good about that. We feel good about the fact that people think we're doing well or we're handling it well. Oh, they think I'm strong. They think I'm tough. Or whatever it might be. So again, we allow ourselves to suffer because it serves an emotional need somewhere. Oh, people think that I'm handling this well, they think that I'm tough, or, you know, I can handle a lot on my plate and so on. So it helps to stroke the ego a bit. And unfortunately, as I say, as a result, the pain and the suffering becomes the goal rather than the outcome that we actually want, rather than getting over it and then getting to the, the happiness or the fulfillment on the other side, we'd rather stay stuck where we are. So of course, we need to be careful of that because when it comes to achieving our goals, that can hold us back because many of us, for example, we have bodies that we don't want to be in. We want improved health, we wanna be fitter, stronger, we want to be healthier, leaner, sexier, and all the rest of it, but we've gotten so good at just putting up with the pain and the suffering that we experience as a result of having this body that we're embarrassed by, ashamed by, disgusted by, and so on, that again, we just let it ride out. It's like, oh well, I can put up with it. I can deal with the fact that it is shit. I'm not happy, but oh well, I'm getting by day to day, so what's the point? And of course, this will bleed into other areas. When we have that mentality, particularly towards self, we then tend to express it in other areas of life as well. So we need to be careful about that because In reality, we don't want to end up basically creating this, this sort of never-ending cycle of moving from one pain to the next, creating more and more suffering as we go, all because we wouldn't just deal with the first one that came along because, oh, I can handle it, so I'll just let it ride out. So that's my kind of thing for you to, to ponder on tonight and think about. It's just, where in your life do you think you might be allowing yourself to to suffer or experience pain for too long. It could be the fact that you've let your body go and you're, you're now overweight, you're out of shape. Could be that you actually have a literal physical pain that you just won't go and get sorted. You won't see the right people to get it addressed so that you can get out of pain. It's like, oh well, I can deal with it, you know, it's only a 6 out of 10, so I'll just put up with this. And sometimes, unfortunately, there is this part of us that literally feels like we deserve it. Like we might have done something in our past, treated someone badly, or, or done something, or been or had certain experiences as a child that led us to believe that that was what we deserved, to be kind of punished, kind of thing, punished or, or reprimanded through life because of things that we may have done in the past. So we then allow ourselves to kind of create these situations, these scenarios, these experiences for ourselves, and we don't do anything about it because we feel like we deserve to be in pain more than we deserve to be happy or fulfilled. So that's what I'll leave you guys with tonight. As always, any questions, drop them in the comments. And if not, I look forward to seeing you guys in my next video. And as I drop out here, just remember, let go of the pain. Don't allow yourself— lost my, lost my words there. Don't allow yourself to stay stuck in the struggle and the suffering, because there are much better things on the other side of that if you allow yourself to pass through. Thanks for watching, people, and I shall chat to you later.
