This guy built a smart collar that herds cows with sound and vibration, no fences needed

This billion dollar company created a technology to virtually herd cows. Meet Halter, a New Zealand based tech company making waves with an innovative system of smart collars helping herd cows and manage pastures. All from your phone, these collars use sound and vibration to guide cattle. With no physical fences needed, Halter is now live in over a thousand farms including 18 US states. But it all starts with the co founder Craig Pigott, who grew up on a dairy farm. While working at a company called Rocket Lab, Craig became inspired with technology and how it could transform traditional industries. Background of getting up early every morning to bring the cows in for milking while also seeing how hard his parents worked. With little flexibility, he knew he could design a system to help farmers all over the world. The Halter collar acts as a gentle guidance system. Sound cues to let the cows know a direction change is coming and vibration on the right or left side of the collar acts as a gentle tap on the shoulder to let the cow know to move. Over time, the cows learn to associate the cues with movement, saving farmers hours upon hours walking the fields just by using a mobile app that acts as a digital shepherd. Herding the cows wherever you need them. More entrepreneur stories and information like this follow UBK.
