Network Capital Community Building Fellowship

Utkarsh Amitabh introduces the Network Capital Community Building Fellowship, arguing that community is central to modern business and subscriptions. He recounts Network Capital's origin (Facebook group → NetworkCapital TV), explains the fellowship's goals—to teach participants to build micro-communities, scale without sales, and graduate with a minimum viable community within a month—and notes it's a high-touch cohort limited to 20 participants.
Chapters
Hi everyone, my name is Utkarsh and I'm here to tell you about the Network Capital Community Building Fellowship. Community is the essence of every single business, every single economic activity in the 21st century. One of my articles and one of my chapters in my book was called why Every Company is Going to be a Subscription Company. And the whole reason why subscriptions are becoming the future of business is because community is the essence of what everyone aspires to do these days. From LinkedIn, GitHub, Facebook, Twitter, to even governments around the world. What they are essentially trying to do is to look at how they can bring a bunch of engaged minds together on a common cause. Building Network capital has been one of the most transformational experiences in my life. As a young MBA from insead, I started working in Microsoft and even within Microsoft. One of the reasons why I was able to get unique opportunities within the company was because I had a community to fall back on, both within the company and outside that. So today I'm here to tell you about how Cass Community as a service is something that you can leverage in your day to day life, in your professional life, and build your category of one. In the Community Building Fellowship organized by Network Capital, I'm going to teach you how you can build your own network capital, how you can scale without sales, and how you can essentially bring people together on ideas and insights that matter to you. Network Capital for me started out as a passion project to help out those who would reach out to me for advice on careers, life, business, etc. But soon my friends joined in and their friends of friends joined in and the network effect set in. Some of it was by design and some of it was by default. By focusing single mindedly on few key design elements, Network Capital grew to become one of the world's largest career intelligence communities. It started out as a Facebook group, then we built out our own platform, NetworkCapital TV which which hosts thousands of hours of top notch content. Today we've not spent a single dollar on sales or marketing and essentially network capital survives because of the trust of all of you. How did all of this adventure come to form? What were some of the interventions that we made? How did we set the culture? What platforms did we choose? How did we look at data? These are things that you can't just hack it. There needs to be a structured learning methodology and I'm here precisely for that. Me and my entire team is going to come and teach this fellowship together. And at the end of the month you will have a micro community of your own now. It could be larger than Network Capital. It could be smaller than network Capital. It could be different than network Capital. It may not even be about a community that you want to build for professional reasons. Perhaps you're really fascinated by feeding stray dogs in your neighborhood. The cause can be many, but the fundamental building block of business and society is community. Community as a service is something that I can't make you master in a month, but what I can do is to equip you with the right set of skills and help you graduate with a minimum viable product. We call these fellowships cohort based classes on network capital. And the real power of that is the community. So in the community building fellowship, you will work with other people who are also interested in building their own community. And you will learn the art of uniting people across borders and boundaries based on a shared mission. This is one of the most interesting fellowships of Network Capital. Right before we start the summer school and I hope you consider joining us for any questions or clarifications. Feel free to check out the registration link. You can sign up there. This is going to be a very high touch fellowship, so we will only take 20 people. So the faster you finish your registrations, the better it is. And I'm really excited to get started. Have a wonderful day and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead. Thank you. Cheers.
