Hi everyone. I hope you're doing well and taking good care of yourself, your loved ones and everyone around. These are challenging times, but these times also reveal the importance of communities. Today I'm going to tell you about the Network Capital side Hustle Fellowship, which begins on June 5. Almost 500 million people have lost jobs since the start of this pandemic. These jobs, unfortunately, are not coming back. If even if they do, the timing is hard to predict. So the time for all of us is to identify our true calling, our inner superpower, and create a framework where we can monetize something that we are truly passionate about and create a new kind of a job or a new kind of employment. In the Network Capital side Hustle Fellowship, we'll explain to you how you should pursue a passion project, create a minimum viable product on top of it, build your community, and then create a suitable revenue stream or an income agreement where you can create a new kind of employment for yourself. There is no point pursuing a job that you don't really care about. This is the time to, you know, take in the pain, take good care of yourself, your mental health, your family, but really think of re pivoting your career. You have one life. And I constantly go back to Confucius saying that all of us have two lives and the first, or this, the second begins when we realize that there is only one or some version of that. Essentially, it's too important for us to take our work, which we do, seriously and instead of just jumping ship and taking up anything that comes our way, which we often tend to do when we are pushed against the wall, or in the case of the pandemic, perhaps we've been fired or let go or furloughed or salary has been reduced by half increments, gone out of the whack. This is the time to, you know, ask yourself, what is the problem that you're most motivated to solve? What are the kinds of people you want to solve these problems with? What is the job that you would do even if you were not to get paid for it? I know it sounds really hard because there are so many physical, mental, emotional, social issues that each of us is going through on a daily basis. But, you know, some of the greatest tragedies can also be huge opportunities. I constantly go back to this podcast on Network Capital by Laura Huang, an Insead mba, now a Harvard professor, business school professor, where she talks about the frameworks for transforming adversity into a competitive edge. I know that even among a bright, motivated and curious community, many, many of you have, you know, have, you know, been axed or furloughed? I don't think actually it's such a bad thing. It could be an opportunity for you to reinvent yourself, ask yourself what matters to you most and why, and use this time that you have to, you know, figure out if there were one thing that you could do today, what might that be? In my case, I'm a huge beneficiary of the power of side hustles. Network capital for a long time was a side hustle, a passion project for me, and I took the bold step of committing to it full time in the middle of the pandemic. Some of you read my Harvard Business Review article on it and you know, six months in since, I've been doing it full time. One year since the launch of NetworkCapital TV. You know, I am ever so grateful both for Microsoft, where I learned a lot about business and corporates, etc. But now that I see my side hustle, my baby take wings and go to a different strata, it fills me with a lot of satisfaction. Not because of, you know, just like simple achievements and hard stuff, but the softer side of employment. They say that there are three important elements of work, and these three elements are autonomy, mastery and purpose. And the advantage of working on your side hustle and creating a full fledged employment out of it for you and for others is that you get to work on your own terms. You get to master things that you're truly passionate about, and it gives you a sense of purpose which is very hard to match if you're in a job that you don't really care about. In my case, Microsoft was a job that I actually really loved. I loved working with a wide range of teams and the time that I spent there was truly special. But they say that every story is a happy story when you know where to put an end to it. Through the Network Capital side hustle Fellowship, our focus isn't going to be that you quit your job today. You know, in my case, again, I worked in Microsoft for a very long time building network capital as a passion project. So nights and weekends, but at the right time, I made the jump, I took the call. The results are in front of you. I also want to commend and compliment many of you who've come forward in thousands to help those in need. It's charming and endearing to see you work relentlessly to help others, the country in need, the world at large, and this peer to peer support network that you're building. The way you're scaling trust the way you scaling kindness. You're basically building the foundations of a really strong country. And I think all great ideas essentially start from a single tiny step. To give you a sense, I invested in a company called Gumroad. It was built over a weekend. YouTube, the first version of it was hacked over a few weeks. Patreon same story. So these weekends are special. These side hustles are special. But now the 21st century tools, the way the economy is today gives you the opportunity to look at these tools and create categories of one for you and your near and dear ones. So as always, Network Capital's lines are open to you all the time. If you find this interesting, please do sign up. The link is there in the comments section or you can go on NetworkCapital TV and check out the fellowship chat. We've also decided to make this fellowship need Blind because we wanted to make sure that people who can't afford it for financial reasons can still participate in the program. So please feel free to write to VaryatWorkCapital TV with specific requests for a financial waiver or a scholarship explaining your financial condition. It's our attempt to make all of Network capital services need blind and we are taking concrete steps towards that with fellowships like these. In the D2C fellowship, as some of you would remember, who participated in it was a beautiful fellowship curated by Arjun and Trisha Vaidya, who had one of the most successful exits in the D2C space recently. And they came forward and made some of the fellowship seats from their personal fund. And I just want to take a moment to realize or recognize or reflect upon the fact that talent is equally distributed but opportunities are not. Network Capital is trying to change this equation and create a level playing field through content, community and career intelligence. But the community, all of you, are at the center of it. And I'm ever so grateful to be able to do the work that I love, working with people that I love, and it's all because of you. Please take great care of yourself. These are tricky times, but you're not alone. We are in this together. Take care. Talk to you soon.
