How To Grow Your Business In A New Way + Playing The Long Game In Your Business 🖤🥂🍾

In this live session Val Nichols, broadcasting from Central Oregon, explains the concept of "playing the long game" for entrepreneurs, especially multi‑passionate and ADHD founders. She uses a restroom‑line anecdote to illustrate how hopping between platforms or niches—what she calls shiny‑object syndrome—keeps business owners stuck and prevents real progress. Val stresses the importance of committing to one strategy, investing significant money in one’s business, and building a strong community to generate know‑like‑trust. She introduces the "3 Ms" (motivation, means, money) as a framework for qualifying ideal clients, and argues that a dedicated Facebook group is the most effective way to own real‑estate, beat changing algorithms, and convert followers into paying customers. Throughout she shares her own investment numbers ($45k in 2020, $80k in 2019) to model seriousness, and promotes an upcoming "Kick‑Ass Facebook Group" program launching August 30, offering prizes and a community‑building roadmap.

Hey, hey, hey! What's up, everybody? Val Nichols here, and I am coming at you live from beautiful Central Oregon, where I am back and so excited to connect with you guys. For those of you who don't know, I have been over on the East Coast for about two weeks, and I'm super pumped to be back because we have so many exciting things happening this week and in the months to come in Val Nichols. Company. So we are super excited. Today I want to share with you guys about playing the long game. And if you know what this is, let me know in the comments when you hop on. Let me know. Let me just adjust here a little bit. When you hop on, let me know, are you playing the long game in your business or are you playing the short game? If you don't know what that means, don't worry. I'm going to explain all of this to you. But let me just tell you a really quick story that is going to help you really expand and grow and, you know, really have that commitment and that focus in your business that you truly desire. Because I love to work with entrepreneurs who are multi-focused, multi-passionate. So you're kind of like all over the place, maybe you have a million ideas, and you just really need to focus on that one thing that's going to give you an edge in your business. If that's you, or if you are an ADHD entrepreneur just like me, you are in the right So let's talk about playing the long game in your business. When you hop on, I would love to say hello. Facebook is not telling me who's on here, so let me know. I do see a couple people on here, and I would love to just give you a shout out and say hi. So let's talk about, um, a couple weeks ago I was doing an event for one of my clients who is, uh, T-Mobile. If you guys know who that is, they're a nationwide, um, the non-carrier, right? And so I was working for T-Mobile a couple of weeks ago at this event. And the funniest thing happened that, you know, stick with me and you guys will understand what this has to do with your business. Okay, capisce? Let's do this. So I was working an event and the craziest thing had to happen, um, happened to happen. We were in— happened to happen. Yes, I think that makes sense. So I was in the restroom and, you know, there was a really long line. We were at this big event and there was a long line to get into the women's restroom because there always is a long line to get into the women's restroom. Can I get an amen for all my ladies out there? So there was a long line to get into the restroom, and there was like 2 separate lines going on. And there was a woman there that was very, um, let's say impatient, right? She was very impatient. She was waiting. She obviously needed to use the restroom really badly. If you guys know what I'm talking about, There was like that, that dance, right? Like that, oh my gosh, I have to pee right now dance. This woman was obviously in that space, as we all were. It was a really long line, and she was very impatient, quite frankly. And there was 2 separate entrances into this restroom, right? So the craziest thing was, as I'm watching this lady, this woman who seemed to be impatient and really needed to use the restroom, she kept like hopping back and forth. Right? Because obviously the line wasn't going quick enough for her in this area, so she would hop back over to the other line, and then she would see that it moved forward a little bit, so she would hop back to the other side. And this went on for about, I don't know, 15 minutes. She was hopping back and forth. So, you know, I was like, how crazy is this? And I was thinking about, you know, business, right? Because my mind is always focused on business. I am hashtag obsessed with all things business, marketing, sales, social media, all the things. So I'm sitting here thinking about business and I'm like, oh my gosh, this is so crazy because this woman who's so impatient keeps hopping back and forth between the 2 options because she is so afraid that one line's gonna move quicker than the next line. And you know, people are looking at her like she's crazy. And the crazy part of it is that as she was hopping back and forth between these 2 lines, she was actually moving nowhere. She was getting nowhere. She wasn't moving forward. She kept having to go to the back of the line, and she was getting nowhere fast. What does this have to do with business? What does this have to do with playing the long game in your business? Is that how often Are people out there in the entrepreneurial world, out there in the business world, maybe if you are promoting your business on social media, are you not seeing the results quick enough? So you're getting impatient, you're getting dissatisfied, and you're hopping back and forth between different platforms. Maybe you're hopping back and forth between being all in on, on Instagram, and then you're on Facebook, and then you're on Clubhouse, and then you're on, you know, whatever else is out there. You know, you're hopping back and forth, or or maybe you're even doing this in business, right? Like you're not seeing the results you want, so you're getting impatient because you're not seeing it happen quick enough. So you're hopping back and forth between this niche and that niche and this thing and that thing. And what ends up happening if you are an ADHD entrepreneur like I am, we can get this thing called shiny thing syndrome where we're like, oh my gosh, we're going to focus on this and we're going to focus on that and we're going to focus on this and that and this and this and all of the things. And before we know it, we've gone back and forth between so many different things, but we haven't actually moved forward in any one space. So think about that. Think about your own business. Think about your own life. Are you playing the long game? Are you investing in your business the way that you would invest in anything else? Right? Like, are you showing up and treating your business like an actual business, or are you just kind of like putting it on the shelf shelf and hopping back and forth between things and treating it like a hobby. Because, you know, in the short time that I've been in the online space with my business— it's only been 3 years, you guys— I've seen so many people come and go and start this business and do this business and jump all around and do so many different things, and they don't give enough time to actually see results, right? Or what they're doing is they're spending all of their time signing up for this thing and that thing and this thing, and they're not actually like solidly investing in one strategy and one thing. And you guys, here's the truth. I have spent, you know, in 2020 alone, because I know the number right off my head, in 2020 alone I spent over $40,000— no, it was $45,000 investment in my business. This is just in 2020, not to mention 2019, which was more around like, I don't know, $80,000 that year. Right? So in two years' time, I spent over $100,000 investing in my business. And there are people out there who won't even invest like two, three, five, six thousand dollars to move their business forward. And let me tell you guys, if you're that kind of person, like that's just that's not my people, right? That's not the type of people that I pour into and invest in because they're not going to see the results that they want. You know, if you're unwilling to invest in your business and, you know, really to take your business seriously and, you know, invest and, you know, get the help you need and, and, you know, really hook onto a great strategy, then how do you expect anyone else to take your business serious either? Right? I see people out there all the time spinning their wheels saying, well, I've done, you know, I've done so many webinars and I watch videos and I read books and all these things which are awesome and great and amazing. But if you really want to play the long game, what I encourage you to do is look at those areas where there's a gap. Look at those areas. You know, do I need help with sales? Right? Do I need help with a strategy on you know what platform to invest in? What platform do I spend the most time in? Where do I find my ideal client? How do I build my business out in a new way? Because things are constantly changing. Algorithms are always changing. What what works and what doesn't work on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, all of the platforms is constantly changing. And there's a huge shift that happened in 2020. You know, I saw this in a big way. And you know, that is that people want to buy from someone that they know, like, and trust. The psychology behind why people buy is completely different than it was back in like 2016, right? You used to be able to just get a Facebook business page, get a website, put an offer out, and boom, you get sales. But now things have shifted. People are sick and tired of the fake strategy, of the cold marketing, of, you know, just being infiltrated with so many different things. It gets to be this like confusing thing, like, oh my gosh, there's so much information, or there's so many, you know, fill in the blanks, there's so many of this, there's so much of that, like, how do I actually choose? How do I actually choose? And let me tell you guys that if you are looking to, you know, really build a long-term business that is sustainable, that you will create consistent leads in and you will gain traction, and you'll also gain the know, like, and trust that you need to actually convert your followers into sales, into paying customers, into continuous leads that will grow your business, that will, you know, allow you to create that impact that you truly desire, that's going to allow you to build a legacy and to create this empire that is going to leave something so much bigger than you, you know, like if you truly believe that your business is not just a means to make money, but it is actually like a mission and a purpose, right? That's what's going to propel you forward. That is what's going to magnetically attract the clients that you truly desire. And the way that you do that is by building a community of your ideal clients where you have people that have the 3 Ms, right? You guys hear me talk about this all the time, the 3 Ms: the motivation, the means, and the money to actually move forward and to buy from you, right? Because it's one thing to have a zillion quadrillion followers, but that doesn't always convert into actual sales. Your followers Do not pay your bills unless you're able to really capture that and monetize and build a community where you can now build out a consistent lead, a consistent following, and repeat customers who end up being your raving fans. Hello, Marsha! Hello, hello, my love! How are you? I would love to hear how are you building your business? What questions do you have about building a community? What is your business if you have one? I would love to know and would love to say hello, hello. Thank you so much for saying hi. It makes me so happy. So if you guys are looking to build a community of, you know, of hot leads, right? Because there's one thing to have followers, but how do you convert your followers into actual clients, into actual sales? Because it's, you know, one thing to have a million followers, and you know that doesn't pay your bills. That's something I call social media. Broke, right? Like influencer broke. You can have a million kazillion different like followers. You can have people who love your content, people who say you're so inspiring, but then you know it ends up being crickets. Like you're not actually monetizing on that paparazzi. Oh my goodness, girlfriend! I have to limit myself with paparazzi. I have some great pieces that I have, but let me tell you those five dollar pieces of jewelry whoo. Girl, oh man, I can spend a million dollars on that stuff. I've got a lot of different pieces and it's great because everything's $5 and it doesn't matter when you travel if you break it, like whatever. It's beautiful, it's gorgeous, and I love it. So I'm super excited to hear about that. And yes, what I'm talking about absolutely works for paparazzi. I've had 2 clients in the past that were paparazzi and then a couple of people in my Facebook group who are, you know, really following these strategies and doing these things, and they can build out a beautiful following and, you know, create that like, know, like, and trust, and people who are raving fans of yours and your jewelry. So this absolutely works. I love it. And so, you know, if you guys are really looking to build that community, let me share with you guys a couple of reasons why building that community is so important. Because number one, you're going to beat the algorithm. Right? Like, it's no— like, it's no secret that the algorithm here on this platform, on Facebook, on Instagram, it's all changed, right? And it's happening so fast that, like, really, who can keep up with all the different things that are happening? And if you build a community, if you're able to actually, like, you know, um, own a little bit of your real estate, right? Because, um, social media is a public platform. There's people who are competing for the same audience. There's people who are, you know, everyone has access to the same resources, everyone has access to the same audience. But you want to be able to create this beautiful, gorgeous, um, like own a piece of the real estate, right? You want to beat the algorithm and you want to do all the things you can to really move your business forward, to do those things. Thank you so much, Marsha. Oh my goodness. So awesome to see you on here. And number 2 is you want to be able to really create that know, like, and trust, right? Like you want to be able to create that know, like, and trust because the shift in the way people are buying is so different. And no matter what you're in, there's competition, right? Which is great. Competition is very healthy. It tells you that there's a market out there for what it is that you're doing. So competition is great. I actually don't even believe in competition because I believe more in collaboration. There's enough like clients for everybody as long as you know the right strategy and how to convert your followers into sales, then you can absolutely 100% do that. But you want to create that know, like, and trust. Marsha says have to go back to work till— okay, you'll watch the replay. Okay, great, good to see you. Thank you for hopping on. And number 3 is you want to create a space where people— like, you're positioning yourself in your niche and in authority, right? So if you can create a niche that you are 100% in it and you can position yourself in the authority as the leader, this is how you're going to propel yourself forward. You are going to create those raving fans and you're going to see your following turn into actual sales like this, like magic. And yes, it can be easy. My dog's like freaking out in the background. Hope— I don't know if you guys can hear that or not, but he's like making some weird noises.
