I never ask but...

Vanessa Van Edwards has sold well with three books but never hit the New York Times bestseller list, despite making the Wall Street Journal list twice. Her latest book's sales window closes tomorrow, and she's asking viewers to buy it now to help her finally reach the NYT list, which she says is partly editorial rather than purely numbers-based.

Okay, I want to share something with you that I wasn't planning on sharing, but it just, it's so real for me that, and everyone's been so supportive and kind about the book that I just, I want to tell you the whole picture. So I had a book that was traditionally published in 2011 and it didn't do well. It totally failed. I thought I would never write a book again. Then my publisher, amazing, Portfolio, took a chance on me in 2015. That was Captivate in 2017. And that book came out and it did great. Thank you so much if you bought it. It was like my first, like my first real try. And we had amazing sales. We actually had enough sales to hit bestseller lists. We hit Wall Street Journal, but we didn't hit New York Times. And I was sad, but I was told that was pretty typical, even though we had enough sales. So with Cues, that came out in 2022, and I was, I so wanted to hit New York Times. Like that was, you know, as an author, it just It's weird to say what you want out loud, but I really, really wanted it. And we had great sales and we didn't hit it. I was, I was pretty devastated, to be honest. Um, I was so proud of that book and it sold so well and we hit Wall Street Journal, but we didn't hit New York Times. So for this book, there's no more Wall Street Journal list and I've never hit New York Times even though we've had all the sales. And this is really weird about the publishing industry, but Sales stop counting tomorrow. So basically the only sales that count for that list are through tomorrow, which is why I've been begging everyone to read, and everyone's been so kind, and like everyone's starting to read it, and I love it. So if you're thinking about buying the book, I would very much appreciate if you would consider buying it today or tomorrow. I am really, really trying to go for the list this time. I don't want to get emotional about it, but It's just one of those marks that I've just been working for for a long time. So we're doing the best we can. If you've already bought the book, oh my gosh, thank you. If you're thinking about buying the book, I'd be so grateful. And, you know, just if you could just like send me some like vibes and some prayers and some wishes. The bestseller list is actually— the New York Times bestseller list is not numbers-based completely. It's also editorial. So we need those. We need those good vibes. We actually have the numbers to qualify, so every sale really helps. And I just wanna tell you the real story of kind of what that means and why I've been pushing so hard up until tomorrow. That's why. And we find out next week. So thank you. Thank you.
