Dubarry was the first to put GORE-TEX inside a leather sailing boot, a move that came from a contract with GORE-TEX itself. Ocean racing teams in the Volvo Ocean Race still wear them today, often without any sponsorship deal.

we'll take these designs and we'll put them out under our own brand. And they would have been doing deck shoes, and they started into sailing boots. And they would have gotten, um, contract with Gore-Tex to make leather sail— sailing boots with the Gore-Tex lining. And they were first to market with that and would still be considered like, um, by a lot of ocean— like the Volvo Ocean Race and that— a lot of teams would wear the Dubarry boots unsponsored
