Wanting to be happy can make you less happy. Happiness involves a paradox. Studies have revealed that those who focus on the pursuit of happiness, those for whom attaining happiness is really important, are in fact less likely to be happy. What do we do? Do we tell ourselves that we don't value happiness, but actually wink, wink, it really is to us? No, not at all. That would not be good. The resolution of the issue lies in the need to pursue happiness indirectly. My name is Tal Ben Shahar. For the past 30 years, I've been studying and teaching happiness. What excites me so much about the science of happiness is that it's not just about raising levels of well being. Happiness is a good investment. People are more likely to flourish. You become more creative, more innovative, more productive, more motivated. You become healthier. Your relationships, whether professional or personal, improve. Moreover, people are more likely to be kind, generous toward others. So when we are creating a happier world, we're also creating a more moral, better world for all of us. In my 12 day Mindvalley quest, I will introduce you to the five key elements that make up the happiness equation. This entire quest revolves around breaking down happiness into spiritual, physical, intellectual, relational and emotional well being. In short, spire. And then providing you with 10 indirect paths to the pursuit of happiness. Two paths for each of the spire elements. Every idea and every tool has been carefully selected, rigorously tested for the purpose of increasing your happiness levels. The happier you become, the more you are likely to help others become happier. And the more you help others become happier, the happier you will become. I'm Tal Ben Shahar and I invite you to join me on this happiness quest to be part of the happiness revolution. Sam.
