There's this poem I want to read you today. I have been reading this poem on Mindvalley live classes and it's always causing people to shed a tear. Tears of joy. So if you woke up this morning and you were thinking, man, I wish vision would make me cry today. You're in luck. This poem is by Rumi, who is one of my favorite poets. 13th century poet from Afghanistan, Iran, and it's called the Guest House. This poem was introduced to me by a friend and I want to read it out to you. This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival, a joy, a depression, a meanness. Some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all, even if they are a crowd of sorrows who violently sweeps your house empty of its furniture. Still, treat each guest honourably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the madness. Meet them at the door, laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whatever comes. Because each has been sent as a guide from beyond. That is Rumi's Guest House now. That poem is one of the best poems I've read that points you to the idea of emotional mastery. Emotional mastery is the idea that you are so aligned with your emotions that you can welcome sadness, you can welcome sorrow. You don't judge yourself, you don't criticize it. But at the same time, you don't let those emotions overtake you or worse, spill out onto other people. It's a beautiful poem because it makes you understand that it's not about keeping negative emotions at bay. Rather, it's about welcoming them in for the gifts that they bear, but at the same time understanding the root cause, understanding why being able to heal yourself and not allowing these emotions to negatively ripple out to others. If you are fascinated by this poem with this idea of emotional mastery, I invite you to join me in a masterclass this week with Jennifer Partridge where we're going to be teaching you techniques on emotional mastery. These techniques come from a really remarkable methodology called Emotional Freedom Technique eft, sometimes called tapping. And you're going to learn how to apply this into your life. I'll see you at the masterclass.
