Ep #44 | Transform Your Life with Dr. Barry Morguelan's Five Powerful Beliefs

Dr. Barry Morguelan left surgery to study alternative healing globally, eventually training with a Chinese grandmaster in energy work. He teaches five beliefs for transformation: life expands constantly, problems are solvable and fun, the body is an energy antenna, relationships work best as win-win, and opposing views can merge into a better third way.

So welcome to this episode with the real life Dr. Strange. And I mean that. What you're about to hear is a fascinating story of an American doctor who goes to China, learns from Chinese masters in the mountaintop the art of manipulating energy and the fabric of reality.
So I said, I got to find out how this thing works. So one day he said he. He actually would train me. He says, but you have to know you might die. But he was actually healing wounds in front of my eyes, and I was actually washing them clothes.
So he was like, shooting an energy from the. Wow. And you were watching. You were watching these healings.
I saw people with strokes who could move only part of their body, and they walked in like this, and then later they were completely normal. Barry, now for about 25 years, most people have no clue the incredible journey he went on. And he's come back with some extraordinary skills that can shift your ability to make energy inside your body in a way that's profound. And I was all about Western medicine, but it was just too many people were sick. And I could see that people were just continuing to come in after they.
Were ill. You're living on this planet only because you can experience what's going on in life. And without this body, there's no sensations. We don't have any machines that sense anything like that throughout 2000 years of science.
So let's get started on this incredibly unique episode of the Mindvalley show, where you're going to hear the story of America's real life. Doctor Strange with doctor Barry Morgan. Barry, welcome to. Thank you.
Thank you.
The mindvalley podcast. Barry, I want you to tell us about your adventures in China.
I went to China.
Not right away, actually.
I was very successful as a gastroenterologist, endoscopic surgeon in Los Angeles with two practices and head of departments in multiple hospitals and actually discovered a disease and a treatment. And I was all about Western medicine, but it was just too many people were sick. And I could see that people were just continuing to come in after they were ill. And it wasn't till the situation where I met my, you know, my patient on one day On a Saturday, Mrs. Rodriguez, and I said, you know, you're well, everything. We took out your tumor.
Everything's fine.
And she was a big, portly woman, and I thought she would be thrilled.
And she says, sit down on the.
Bed, you know, and all of a sudden, I knew this lady. I went, okay. She wants to ask me a question. And so I sat there and she said, Dr. Barry, you need to know.
That it took me four and a.
Half months to come see you. I went through so many doctors and I was hurting all the time and nobody would do what was wrong. I'm glad you're an expert and you knew what it was. But this system is crazy that I had to suffer for so long. Can't you do something about it? And I said, you know, and I took her hand, I said, I've been seeing so many sick people. I wish that people didn't get sick at all. I wish that people didn't have to come see me. I wish people would, could take care of themselves. And instead of going through life and looking as if your future is going to be downhill, because people do that, they look at it, as you get older, you're going to get sicker, which is wrong because you can actually do the opposite. It's just no one's discovered that except in ancient, ancient days. I said, I wish I could discover the way that people could get themselves well. And you could be your own doctor, you could be your own guru. She turns to me and said, Dr. Barry, if anybody can do it, you can do it. Go. And so I actually made it my choice. But this is 25 years ago. You have to understand, in Los Angeles at that time, we didn't have anything alternative. We had Winchell's Donuts, we didn't have. We had no coffee, we had nothing. But I went out on my own about every three months and went to a different part of the world. And I went for the next seven years, still maintaining my practice in Los Angeles, and was looking for what could be the thing. I learned about crystal therapy, even became a shaman for a while in South America and had long hair and painted and did all that, you know, everybody's doing plant based medicine now. We were doing plant based medicine beyond your big huge leaves and burning all these fragrances and things.
And so then I ended up, you.
Might think that it's a great story. It was almost like Indiana Jones. It was not good. Every place I went, people were really nice. But I could never get what I wanted, which was something I could give to you so you wouldn't ever get sick to come to me.
I wanted you to be your own.
Person, to be independent. I want you to be a tall tree in the forest, not have to lean on another tree. And that was my thought in my head all the time. And so even when I was in South America and I was working with healers there, or when I was in Africa working with the Healers there. It was all like people were coming there and they were all end stage.
They were all very sick people.
And nobody was staying healthy and well and vibrant, you know. And so I worked in London in England, there was the Bach remedies. In France, there was all the aromatherapy and the wonderful food and wine thing. And then finally Germany was machines and things and. But this was over seven years of leaving every three months. I ended up going around the globe 160,000 miles I tracked in those days on my own ticket and still didn't find it.
What year. What year was this?
This is back in the 80s.
And then eventually you ended up in China.
Yeah, eventually, after seven and a half years, I ended up in China and I'm working there teaching surgery. And the reason I was able to teach surgery is we were way ahead in those days at UCLA and West and doing endoscopy surgery. And so there was open door for me to teach in China. But, you know, when I went to China, it was not like it is today with everybody sort of in a good economy. Everybody was post Mao Zedong. In that time. There was mostly rickshaws. I was right around a rickshaw. There's very few cars.
And the.
The place was packed with people wearing the same outfit, just like in the movies, you know, they're all wearing these bow outfits. And so I had a great time teaching at the hospitals until one day I'm walking down the. The hallway after patients and I saw in the library there this book of.
This guy who's dressed in this wonderful.
Garb, who I later found out was their great, great, great grandmaster. The guy who's their national treasure, who's inherited all the vibrations since Lao Tzu, the guy who did the yin yang symbol, the black and white symb. The guy who invented that whole thing along with 1D back years and years ago. And that he was treating somebody like this, but he wasn't touching them.
And I'm like, he had a grandmaster, an energy grandma.
Yeah. They had photos of him. No, they had photos in the book. Okay, in the book. And so I saw the pictures and I went, hey. So I took it to the chief, who knew me very well, and I said, I want to meet this guy. He goes, impossible, forget about it. He says, you have no idea first place you're white guy, when white guy in Chinese means not good. In those days it was called guilau, which means ghost or lao wai. Either one is bad news. And in other words, we don't trust you and go away and he says, the only reason we tolerate you here now is because you make such a contribution and you're such a vial to our surgical community. But in the real China, we really don't respect anybody outside the Chinese culture. And up there in the mountain, there's no way you're going to see him. Plus, he charges something, like back in those days, $10,000 a visit. But then finally one day, I ended up treating this commissar with one of.
These big hats from Beij Beijing.
And I took a tumor out of his intestine, as I was telling you, and. And the tumor, when I finished, I walked out. It was a hot day.
And as I was sweating.
And his number two in command, who was also dressed in the military, says, how'd it go? And I said, I got the tumor out. He's fine. He can go back to work tomorrow and eat. He says, you're lucky. And I went, what does lucky mean? He says, you never would have left China if he hadn't done well. And I went, tough. But then I remembered, I said, you know, this is a crisis moment. This is a little bit difficult. Maybe I can turn this around. I said, do you think he can get me to see the Grand Grand Master? And he said, maybe. Maybe. Let me check. And so the guy said, I can get you a small visit, but he may reject you.
He doesn't like people.
He certainly doesn't like foreigners. And you're a foreigner, and so don't think that all your degrees and the fact that your chief of departments in the United States means anything to him, because he's comes from a completely different tradition. We'll set it up for you. So what does setting up mean? They gave me a guy who gave me to another guy who rode me up half the mountain on a motorcycle.
That was broken down.
And then I had to walk the rest of the way till I got to finally the temple where he was working. And I saw him working on people, actually healing them. And, you know, I can work in the emergency room. If you come in with a cut, I can sew you up. Okay? But he was actually healing wounds in front of my eyes, and. And I was actually watching them close without touching them. Now, that freaks people out. If you know anything about psychic surgery from the Philippines, they try to do.
That, but it's all hidden.
And the people are always saying whether it's a real or not, but they have something similar. But he was actually doing right out in the open. And he was also.
So he was like shooting an Energy from.
Right. Yeah.
And you were watching. You were watching these healings.
Watching healing. I saw somebody with a completely broken shoulder was like.
Like this.
And they said he'll never be able to raise his arm again. You know, it wasn't. It was unbelievable. Later, I saw the X rays, had, like, 14 fractures in there because he'd fallen off a building.
And after I had come back and.
Forth to China over multiple visits, the guy actually was back to work and able to lift heavy things in. His shoulder was still working. It was a miracle. I saw people with strokes who could move only part of their body, and they walked in like this. And then later they were completely normal, able to talk without any lisp, without any slur, their brain working. Right. It's as if they regained a new life. And actually, the discipline he represents is called new life energy. That every day, as I learned, because he finally allowed me to study him, and I kept coming back all the time. However, he didn't allow me send him right away. It was a very mean, nasty area up there. Every time I followed because there were so many other people around, and he didn't necessarily want to try to help me, but I just kept persisting. And so even though I was. He wasn't the honored guest like I am back in the United States, they tolerated me, you know, and. And I didn't care. I didn't have any ego on the thing. I just couldn't believe that this was actually happening. Actually, having seen everything in Western medicine.
That now you could do it without.
Sutures, you could do it without, you know, without a scalpel, and it was just wonderful. And without medications. I saw people were, like, absolutely nuts who were, like, freaking out and just coming in, and they were these crazy people like this. And he would just have them come in front of him, and he would just go like this. And in less than a minute, the person would just be normal. And the family would start talking to him, and they go, mom hasn't been.
Like that for years.
For years, but you can almost feel it. Then when I did that, I was bringing the energy in the room. So I said, I got to find out how this thing works. So one day he said he. He actually would train me. He says, but you have to know you might die. And I went, you know, okay. I went to medical school, and they say, you may not graduate. Okay, I can handle that. But he said, you might. You might die. And I said, why? Why do you say that? He said, because it's very rough. There's no Books. And I'd already checked that out. I'd gone to Washington D.C. on one of my trips in the Library of Congress and checked all these books about old China and have been looking up on is there something that talks about what Lao Tzu really did? And no, there's only people wrote about him. Matter of fact, the only book that he actually wrote is about this thin. So it's a very small thing. And other people have interpreted the Dao Te Ching and other things over years. But the fact is he's a person who is someone who was the first person to bring in quantum physics. And so I said, so then, so what I'm going to die? Says, well, because you're going to learn this only about challenges. And I said, what is challenges? Well, each challenge is going to be life and death. And I went camping. I was a basketball player. How bad could it be? It was bad. Every single thing was life and death. Like one time, you want to hear how what he did? So one time he sent me out at 4:30 in the morning and it's cold, cold, cold in China. And he says, you're going to get out there in your shorts and you're sitting the snow and he said, I want you to melt this circle all the way around here and I'm going to come out and see what kind of circle you melt. And actually he was looking for a certain design and sub and the thing and, and you know, you're going to sit there and personally it was cold and I had to bring in enough energy to generate enough heat so that your heat would go out in this distance and would, would actually create a space. And so when he came back, you know, after that, that instance, he looked at me and he went, now you would think in America or in someplace else, if you did something, they'd go, good job, you're making it. He came back and went, next, next challenge. It was always a challenge.
He was never melt snow.
I had a melt snow, that's nothing. And then one day expanding you because your energy is something you're supposed to be able to draw in in life.
Many stories about this of monks in the Himalayas who've been studied by my scientists. You can take a, a blanket, a wet blanket, put it on these monks while meditating in the snow, and they can generate enough energy through their body to cause steam to.
Absolutely, absolutely, yeah. And that energy is always available to you.
And he wanted me to find out or die.
And the other reason he said you might die is there's no Malpractice here, there's no lawyers. He says if you hurt yourself, you're.
Going to have a problem.
And actually, some people died. One of my best friends died, Kenny, along the way, and was thought wasn't happy about that.
And so you went through this training and this changes the way you're practicing medicine.
Absolutely.
And now one of the things that you do is you train high level entrepreneurs like me. You help. What, what, what I learned from Barry is this, and forgive me if I'm misquoting, but you said you want to be spiritual. Well, to be spiritual, all that means is that everything in life is really easy. Whatever you need to accomplish is just easy. Is that correct?
Absolutely.
And there were five beliefs that Barry shared with me over the years. We've been working together since 2019, four years right now. And there were five beliefs that really stick out. And these beliefs are unconventional, but these beliefs really shaped the way I showed up in the world. And as I took on these beliefs, what I noticed is that the reality that I experience shifted in many times in positive ways. So I'd love for you, Barry, to talk to our audience here and take them through a lecture on these five beliefs. I'm not going to interrupt. I want Barry to share, just like he shared with me, his wisdom. Now, again, remember, we're going to go through these beliefs in a very quick way. We don't have time for hours upon hours of conversation. But at the end of this, if you like what you're hearing, we will arrange to have Barry back, maybe to give a masterclass or a webinar, or we'll send you some information on how you can learn more from Barry. Just go and sign up at mindvalley.com forward slash Barry. Super easy to remember. Var y sign up at mindvalley.com Barry and we'll get you a PDF brochure on how you can continue working with Dr. Barry Morgan in the same way me and Dave Asprey and Ben Greenfield and Tony Robbins and many others work with Barry. Okay, now, Barry, the first belief has to do with the idea of life constantly expanding.
I'm so glad that you brought up this topic of always expanding, because most of us go to life and we're looking at life as a, well, what do I need to get done today and where do I have to go and who do I have to meet, and is it going to work out and am I going to have any time for myself and is it going to be fun or not fun? And then sometimes you think about it. Sometimes you just keep getting, being busy. And I call this the Matrix. This is just sort of this milieu where you're just sort of lost in this mechanism of just making it through life almost automatically. And the truth is that every moment in life is an opportunity for you to expand. And, you know, the universe is always. That's right, expanding at the same time that we're sitting here. It's actually been expanding since you were born, and it will keep expanding. And Einstein was one of the people that was part of that discovery. And the joy of that is that we're supposed to always be expanding also. However, you have another choice that goes along with, remember the yin Yang symbol, the black and white symbol, which is that you can choose to contract or you can choose to expand, but you must make a choice at every moment. And unfortunately, on this planet, if you don't choose to expand, it means that you get the default choice, which is often contraction. Which means that, like if you take a plant and you don't water it and you just leave it away from any nutrition, sunlight, soil of any good quality, and you turn the heat up on it, you know it'll shrivel and die. And so life is about movement. And expansion means you're constantly expanding your existence, you're constantly expanding your abilities, you're constantly expanding your solutions for anything and everything in a much more enjoyable and friendly way between you and, and your participation in life and other people and the environment. Contraction would be, I'm just going to force my way through it and gut it out and just push and just burn up all my, you know, internal qi. And then by the time that I'm there, you know, hopefully the reward will be at the end. And that you can't do that. You've got to be expanding every moment. So the expansion process is the joy throughout the entire process of whatever you're doing, of going from here to there. Are you actually creating something or doing any business? There should be every moment you should be expanding and learning and what you're contributing and what's being contributed to you. And in that case, you'll always be satisfied and have well being as you're going through the process of whatever it is, whether it's sports or whether it's talking to your significant other or whether it's creating something, writing a chapter or, you know, actually doing some manual labor or playing golf. All of those things require expanding in your prowess and in your ability. And then the joy comes as a secondary factor that just spills out of you, because you're just so thrilled with the opportunity to see yourself expanding in each thing you're doing so that that belief.
I gotta say, Barry, the idea of expansion has really shaped my life.
Good.
And more recently, this was. This was pretty recent. This was maybe in. This was just a couple of months ago. You shared with me an idea, and it has changed my life in a really unique way. So I want to explain what I experienced. And then, Barry, I'm going to ask you to share it with the audience in your words. So I was talking about problems that enter my life as a CEO. I run a company with 400 employees, and naturally, not everything is always going to be working well all the time. But I was telling Barry, well, you know, these problems come by, and it may take a little bit of hard work and struggle, but I'll eventually solve them. And I was bullish about it. And Barry flipped it around. He's like, well, why should it even be hard to solve these problems? What if you simply had a belief that every problem that comes your way, you would solve in a fun and easy way? So I was like, that's really curious. So I started repeating this mantra to myself in the morning as I meditate. I solve all problems that come my way in a fun and easy way. And what was really weird about it is the problems didn't stop. But when the problems came, my stress level never went up. And the problems would often resolve themselves in the most elegant way. And sometimes these methods of resolving themselves would be fun. They would be surprisingly easy, and there would be huge learnings that emerge from it.
Absolutely.
Barry, share this wisdom with the audience.
This is one of the key concepts that is so essential to physics and essential to you being successful, which is that every moment in your life, you are really, like it or not, up against a learning experience, because life's always changing. This is a changing plan. Nothing is ever the same. Everything's a little bit different. Today, tomorrow, even. You know, you're replacing this, your skin overnight. So these cells are coming off. Things are always changing. So that if your body's changing and life out here is changing, you need to be ready to change. But what is the change? Well, the change, as long as you're ready for it, won't be where most people go, which is in resisting change and being upset about it, because you know, anything you resist is going to persist. You know that. And. But anything that you resist also becomes more of a problem. You know, it's almost as if you let a fire go on and just keep resisting taking care of it. It gets worse and worse. So the thing that you need to recognize is that as each moment goes along, it's a learning opportunity for a solution. So if you could look at life as each moment, you're looking for a solution each moment, that's the game, then you're on the right track. But if you look at each moment as it shouldn't be, each moment, why am I here? Each moment is, this is unfair, or each moment, this is a problem and therefore I'm stuck, or this is a problem, therefore life's difficult. No, it's not a problem. What it is, is each moment is a change. And change is an opportunity for you to discover something new about yourself, about the environment, and about what you can contribute as you grow with the experience. So the solutions is each moment what you're discovering. That's what you're learning. And that's why you don't want to be contracting and not learning. You want to be expanding and learning with the changes that go on each moment. If I were to look at life, each moment as a problem, then I'm stuck. Because you already have made it into something that is something to fight against, that you're going to have to, like, push against. But if it isn't a problem, if it's an opportunity for a solution, something that's going to contribute to you, then really the mantra really works, that all problems that come my way, which is going to be every moment because it's problem, solution, they come together. All problems that come my way, I solve in a fun and easy way. Because that's your job. Being here, you're a human being, is to make that contribution to existence and to your own life.
So remember the mantra, I solve all problems that come my way in a fun and easy way. Write it down, put it on your wall. I love this mantra. This has become something I state to myself in the morning when I meditate. Now, Barry, let's go to idea number three, aptly named Nobody. Nobody.
So the third key teaching today is about this one concept, that you are set up as a body to really participate in life. And if you don't get that and you just ignore the body and push yourself through and just say whatever it takes to get to the end, that's what it's all about. Grit is what where it's at, then you're destroying your body, therefore you're destroying your opportunities. And therefore, even if you do succeed, the cost of what it takes out of your body, out of your sensorium out of your emotional state, and your results are always going to be not worth it. So I've had people who've pushed themselves through all kinds of things, and what happens at the end is they go, you know, well, I got the result, but I'm 100 pounds overweight and I have high blood pressure. And I had this other problem and my, I'm not really taking care of my total health at the same time. So if you're not focusing on all the factors which I know that many of you know are essential for you, which is that you must really get a certain amount of sleep every day. Really, it's not, it's not foolish. And you must find the diet that really works for you, that puts you in a place that you're getting more and more nutrition, and you must really, really do some kind of aerobic exercise and muscular exercise so that you're maintaining a certain amount of body fat. And also that your, you know, maximum VO2, your oxygen combusting ability is something that is getting better and better over time so that you're getting more and more fit. And if you're doing that, then what happens is this antenna, which is what this wonderful structure is, this sensory machine. Because you came to this planet, whether you believe you were born one way or whether you descended or whatever your concept is, you're living on this planet only because you can experience what's going on in life. And without this body, there's no sensations, there's no feeling. I mean, just imagine if you eat something, you have a taste, and sometimes there's maybe five tastes. And that has to be. The neuron has to go from your tongue all the way up into your brain, then all the way back down. And then you make a comment and go, oh, this tastes great. It tastes more this or that sour or whatever. We don't have any machines that sense anything like that. Throughout 2000 years of science, your abilities to be able to massively send information up and down is what makes up this body and to duplicate it. Nobody's ever done it. No robots can do it. They can do simple things, but nothing with all the complexity of saying, I want to move my finger two inches this way or that way and feel what's going on at the same time. There's, it's, it's beyond most people's comprehension. So you must make a commitment that my body is a sacred temple for which all these energy practices, which is the next thing that I really recommend people do, is to bring all These sensors that are in your body into their open state so that you can perform up until the ages of 80, 90, 100, whatever it is, into total physical condition, where you're improving each day, both in your mind and in your ability to remember things and calculate things, and also physically fit to be able to perform anything that you want to do so that life becomes something to you, that you get better each day physically, along with whatever other rewards you want to accomplish out here in terms of financial or success with other people or succession in what you want to produce in the world. Your body is key, and it's an antenna for you to open up all your sensors and bring in the energy that comes in from so many different directions. And that's what all these practices are about that you need to include along with your physical exercise each day so that you can constantly bring in the energy. And there's a lot of ways to bring in the energy. This is using the body. You can do physical practices like shaking your hands like this. This actually does release, you know, a lot of spaces in your body so that you can bring in more energy. You can take the hands and go like this and just go and breathe. Come on, you can do it with me. And just breathe. This is using the body to bring in more energy and then breathe and breathe. And some of this looks like, maybe it looks like something you've seen before, but actually using the energy, it's quite dramatic as you keep bringing in more and more energy. Keep breathing. Yes, that's okay. You can take in another breath and then take another one in. That's okay. Take another one in and then up here and then slowly let the air out. But your hands don't have to come down at any pressure. Actually, you can allow the energy of the entire environment that's feeding you to slowly support you as you're bringing your hands down. As you do that more and more. If you repeat this exercise, and we can do this with you on many of the exercise videos that I've got set up for you, that will actually allow you to keep energizing this body so that you recognize that your body is your key to keep it functioning and feeling fantastically in the zone and flow of participating in the experience of life itself, which is what life's all about.
Now let's go on to the fourth idea. And the fourth idea has to do with the concept of win, win and win, lose. So for the longest time, I would sometimes get into relationships, particularly business relationships, with business partners who were not people I should have trusted. You know, I had two business partners really screw me over. In one instance, a guy I thought was a close friend, someone I'd spent time in Burning man with and we were opening up a business. The deal was he was going to get the work done, I was going to fund it. I put 150k in a bank account, he ran away with the money and he came up with all of these excuses why he wasn't going to pay me back. And from Barry, I learned the concept of how to gauge partnerships, whether they are business partnerships, friendships or even romantic partnerships along the basis of win win. So here's Barry's take.
It's such a valuable fact and I've been able to teach this in major corporations, in companies that are so important that we all know their names to their C suite decision maker people. But it's not just for the top of the ring is for every single person. Everywhere you're going in life is you're making decisions all the time. Now how are you going to make a decision and just have it work out for you? Well, you can't just think of you. You've got to be able to think, how is it going to be a win for me? Then how's it going to be a win for the other person? How's it going to be a win for the environment? So with every decision you make, if you could just look to say, is this a win for me? Okay, I want to take care of me, but I also want to take care of you at the same time. So if I, if we're going to go get an ice cream cone, I'm going to say, do you want one? Also I'm not going to just sit there and eat an ice cream in front of you. So that's a category one person. That's the kind of people you want to be around. That's why people you want to marry kind of people want to hire and kind of person you want to be. As long as you're that way, the universe will keep feeding you back everything because you're always expanding in an equal way with your partners here in life. So win, win is the way to make your decisions. And in whatever you're going to do now, what if you're making a decision, win, lose, those are the lower categories of people that if they're unconscious about being win lose, it still can hurt you. So you need to be able to recognize a person who's always going, well, I don't care about you, I'm Just going to do what I want. And oh, that's just the way I was brought up or I was raised. I once met a guy who said, well, you don't know. I was raised on a dirt floor, you know, and so you expect me to be win win. I'm not going to do that. I'm going to take everything I can get. And these kind of people are feeling righteous about that. They have to play win lose, that they're always going to take more than other people. And then there's those people are just.
They have a good reason.
And then there's people that are worse than that that are not even interested. And you really want to stay away from those people also or protect yourselves. Who play win lose, not win win, but they play it very consciously. They know that they can be some, you know, like some people that are, what they say, car lot salespeople, that they know that if they can sucker you in that you're just going to fall for it. And so they get to win, you get to lose, and they laugh at you. And that kind of person is consciously working against you. And that's not win win. So you want to avoid those kind of people as far as your negotiations, as far as making your best friends, and find the percentage of people that really care about whether you win and they win together. And then you go through life with a cadre of people that really, really are worthwhile friends, worthwhile business associates, worthwhile partners, worthwhile significant others. If you can make that your baseline on which you're going to bring people into your life close in, then you're going to be very, very safe. And you're not going to get this, you know, surprise with certain people that.
You have relationship with.
All of a sudden, you know, they ended up doing something completely that you were unexpecting and that was not fair to you. And you've done your best and they were doing their worst, either consciously or unconsciously. But both of those approaches is something.
It'S up to you to be careful with.
So on that, Barry, one of the things I learned is now with my business partners, it's truly win win. With John Butcher, for example, we have a company together called Lifebook. When we're negotiating our contract between each other, we actually will point out things that the other person missed. We want each other to win because we know we're in this for the long term. And this new healthy way of doing a business partnership has been so, so powerful for me. I now only seek win win because I Know that that is possible in the world. And you help me strip away from dogma, past beliefs that were telling me that, you know, that I have to constantly be on God.
Yes.
Now this brings us to the final idea, which is called the third way. And this idea I'm still learning, but I invite you to share with our audience.
This concept that you have been able to implement over time and has worked so well for you is miraculous in that it allows us to grow together as a community. So that you and I are not just individuals who have to sort of figure out how we can get together. But actually was meant that we get along, meant that it work out, but it isn't done in a way that is sort of, you have this great idea and I'm just going to go, okay, I'll just do that. And it isn't that I've got this idea that's sort of okay, but maybe we could do it or we can't do it if we had other suggestions or something. It's actually always going to be that everything you say, I want to know what that is. I want to listen well and find out your point of view. And then that's one way. And then there's my point of view at the moment for how I see things. Okay, Believe it or not, neither one of those is the real solution. The real solution is always going to be a third solution, which is sort of this over encompassing. Got it. Umbrella, that is canopy, that's over both of those. That's a decision that takes in both your idea, my idea, and comes up with an idea that's even better than either one of us had thought up individually, but that works for both of us and is much more elegant, much more economical and much more satisfying for both of us to go through that choice. And what happens if you're always making decisions like that? So that there's the third why that you're going to find yourself a little bit slower before you make your decisions because you really got to listen to the other person and listen to yourself and then try to figure out between you two what's the elegant decision that you haven't even thought of yet, but it's actually better than both individually and satisfies both. You're going to end up with so many great solutions that are going to be something that you can stand on.
They'Re going to last and they're going.
To be something significantly wonderful because you're not rock solid about. Oh, it must be this way because you're opening to all the factors that are occurring in this changing world which allows you to keep up with the speed of life. And then you can trust yourself because you're actually participating with all the data that's coming in. Rather, it's going, it must be this way, or I took one glance and it has to be this way. You're going to actually find that there's a overarching third way that's going to be so valuable that you're going to have so many people who want to work with you, because you're really trying to have things fit according to the expansion process for human beings themselves.
