Vishen Lakhiani walks through breaking negative thinking patterns: notice what you're focusing on, identify the repeated thoughts, question whether they're actually true, then pick a more useful perspective. The shift only sticks when you move from thinking to action with a concrete plan.

When someone is demotivated, they often get stuck in a loop of negative thinking. They might be fixated on how someone wronged them or a situation that didn't go as planned. If someone feels everything is going wrong in life or nothing is working out for them, it often is because they are focusing on the wrong thing on the wrong thought. If you focus on a negative, you tend to manifest more negative in your life. So how do you help someone who's stuck in a negative spiral? It's about moving their attention. The first step would be to bring their awareness to what they're paying attention to. Start by asking them, what are you focusing on right now? What are you paying attention to? Help them identify the specific thought patterns they're repeating. Then we introduce a new thought pattern. Once they realize what they're focusing on, gently but confidently ask them, is this the absolute truth? And is this a way of thinking helping you in any way? It's. It might take a minute, but they will eventually get to the place where they realize it doesn't help them. Which is where you ask what would be a more empowering perspective? Once they suggest a few other ways of thinking, help them choose the most empowered way of thinking. Encourage them to choose the thought that serves them best, one that propels them forward from there. Help them create a plan. Move from thinking to action. You can make a meaningful impact in someone's life if this speaks to you.
