A short spoken excerpt from a YouTube video by Vishen Lakhiani arguing that repeated verbalizing of problems in traditional therapy can reinforce those problems, whereas hypnotherapy accesses and reprograms the unconscious drivers of dysfunctional behavior. The speaker claims hypnotherapy can be faster, less painful (because it avoids revisiting traumatic memories), and typically relaxing/enjoyable.

One of the reasons why traditional therapy doesn't really work for some people is it's assuming that the truth sets you free. If you just keep talking about something, then you get over it. Now, there's something to be said for getting it off your chest. But also, if you keep talking about your problems over and over again, you're reinforcing them. You know, it's like taking someone with a broken leg and throwing them down the stairs until they feel better. Well, sure, it's nice to get things off your chest, but I meet people who've been in therapy for, like, 10 years, and they can talk to you in a sort of psycho babble about why they've got their problems, but it hasn't made any difference to their behavior. Now, the reason that hypnotherapy is better is because it goes to the unconscious mind. That's driving unwanted behaviors, dysfunctional behaviors, and it reprograms at the unconscious level. So in a sense, it's faster, it contains less pain because you're not going back over these awful memories again, and it's usually really quite relaxing and enjoyable.
